Big K.R.I.T Barks at Critics in 'Mt. Olympus' Video

These days, you can do a lot with a green screen and a good director. Just ask Big K.R.I.T, since he uses both for his new video, ‘Mt. Olympus.’

In the visual, the southern lyricist uses an array of special effects to accompany the song’s rapid flow and dramatic backing music. An animated K.R.I.T. spits sharp verses towards his critics and those people who’ve ever doubted him.

“Now you wanna hear a country n—- rap / Five albums in I swear a country n—- snap / Thought they wanted trap / Thought they wanted bass / Thought they wanted molly / Thought they wanted drank,” spits the MC on the self-produced track.

Clearly, K.R.I.T is being pulled in all directions by fans and the music industry alike, and ‘Mt. Olympus’ is a song dedicated to all of those outside forces.

The video also contains several wardrobe changes by K.R.I.T, and he even goes the Run-D.M.C. route by rocking a black leather jacket and black fidora, and some might say he’s looking way more stylish these days compared to the past.

Director A KRSP Visual does a good job of bringing attention to the rapper’s lyrics by infusing cool imagery that comes off as pure eye candy. And that’s all you can ask for from a music video director, right?

Air Jordan 3 'Wolf Grey'

Shoulee81

Wolf Grey is one of the most powerful weapons that Jordan Brand has in its arsenal and when you combine that with one of their more celebrated silhouettes the weather conditions are correct to create the perfect storm. The Air Jordan 3 ‘Wolf Grey’ is the result and chances are it will be reigning over anything else that drops this summer.

The Air Jordan 3 is given a Wolf Grey tumbled leather upper that is flanked by black and metallic silver elephant print on the heel and toe. Plainly put this model is absolutely electric and the translucent silver outsole continues to keep things shocking.

To ensure that the fireworks don’t stop on July 4th Nike is set to drop the Air Jordan 3 ‘Wolf Grey’ on July 14th and will retail at $170 in a full size run. Heat like this will ensure that it will be a hot summer.

T.I. Tackles Relationship Issues on Remix of Jhene Aiko's 'The Worst'

T.I. Jhene AikoFrederick M. Brown/Imeh Akpanudosen, Getty Images

With all the rumors going around about whether or not T.I. and Tiny are headed towards Splitsville, the Hustle Gang rapper seems to throw some hints on a remix of Jhene Aiko‘s ‘The Worst.’

The southern rhymer jumps on the song and starts spitting out a response to a woman who’s been bashing him. After he lays down the verse, Jhene’s vocals float over the sped up melody. So instead of a tranquil ballad, the R&B track is something that one can groove to despite T.I.’s strong and vengeful lyrics.

“Yeah, I know I was clowning / I know you wasn’t just going to take that laying down and / I’ll be the first to say it, I was dead wrong… / But if it isn’t worth shooting my in the head don’t / take to social to try me / Putting folk all in our BI all on IG / Nah, I don’t believe it, I don’t wanna see it / Maybe I wake up tomorrow it’ll be deleted / You out the country in bikinis on beaches / While I’m in the studio doing features like…,” he delivers on his second go at the mic.

His words do seem to address that time Tiny decided to upload a photo of her booty on Instagram, which lead to the rapper blasting her for doing so. This isn’t the first time we’ve been hearing about the tiffs between the couple. Earlier this year, divorce rumors spread when they had a disagreement about attending the 2014 Grammy Awards — she wanted to and he did not. Is this just the precursor to more drama between the two?

Take a listen below to be the judge of that.

Listen to a Preview of a Song From Wu-Tang Clan's Secret Album [VIDEO]

When Wu-Tang Clan founder RZA announced that he created a one-of-a-kind album that he would auction off to the highest bidder, critics were skeptical about the concept. Forbes magazine just released a brief documentary about the secret album, ‘The Wu — Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,’ and unveiled a snippet of one of its tracks.

Reporter Zack O’Malley Greenburg traveled to Morocco to see first-hand what this highly guarded project looks and sounds like.

First off, the packaging — designed by British-Moroccan artist Yahya — is very exquisite. The CD will be encased in a handcrafted silver-and-nickel box, which comes in another handmade wooden treasure chest.

As for the music, Tarik “Cilvaringz” Azzougarh handled all of the production on the album.

“Despite everybody thinking that this is some great publicity stunt or marketing ploy, this has been a genuine concept from the get-go,” he tells Forbes. “It happened to get a lot of publicity — great — but it is a genuine concept with a genuine core and a genuine goal.”

With the help of the RZA, Cilvaringz handpicked which Wu rapper’s verse would go on each song based on his vision.

Cilvaringz lets the Forbes writer hear a snippet of one song that features Ghostface Killah and a surprise guest.

Overall, it will be interesting to see the response once this secret album is available for someone to buy for million of dollars.

From getting that confidential marriage license in California and getting married in their home to eyeing wedding locations in Paris, the reports are endless.

Either way, Kardashian and West have done a wonderful job of keeping people guessing and keeping the news of their nuptials a secret, which may surprise those folks who believed the affair would be documented considering Kardashian has lived her life in front of cameras for years.

The gorgeous reality TV star and the eccentric rapper were in New York City this week since they attended the annual Met Ball Monday (May 5) and one big rumor was finally put to an end. The pair have not been married yet.

“[I'm] still Kim. Mrs. West soon,” she stated to Vogue. The dark-haired beauty also sent out a bunch of tweets debunking the other marriage rumors, which can be read below.

Jason Derulo Gives Behind-the-Scenes Look at Poolside 'Wiggle' Video With Snoop Dogg

Like ‘Talk Dirty,’ Jason Derulo‘s new single, ‘Wiggle,’ not only celebrates the female body but also makes you want to get on the dance floor. And while the singer previously performed the flute-laden track for The Boombox’s Off the Record series, now he’s giving a sneak peek of the official video in a new behind-the-scenes clip.

The 24-year-old takes viewers to a pool party to honor a woman’s backside. With most of the guests being curvaceous ladies in bikinis and booty shorts, clearly Jason’s outnumbered, but he doesn’t seem to mind.

“It’s exciting times,” Jason reveals on the video set. “The album just came out in America. It’s called ‘Talk Dirty.’ And ['Wiggle'] is a very special song… and I got my homie, big Snoop Dogg featured on this record, which is really exciting as well.”

Snoop, who delivers his rap skills on the song, makes an appearance in the visual as one of the lucky guys enjoying the party and, most importantly, the view. The 98-second clip shows cuts of what we can expect from the video including the song’s signature dance move, lots of skin and even more twerking.

Jason Derulo is clearly celebrating the arrival of summer here.

Alicia Keys is bringing the sweet smell of success to a store near you. The R&B singer has been named the new face of Givenchy perfume.

This is Keys’ first beauty contract ever in her career. The Grammy-winning artist and mom will appear in advertising for the still-untitled perfume in September.

“I’m honored to introduce the world to the newest scent by Givenchy said Keys in a statement (via Women’s Wear Daily). “Givenchy has long been one of the world’s most iconic luxury fashion houses, and a personal favorite of mine.”

She also shared her excitement on Twitter.

The ‘Girl on Fire’ singer joins such music artists as Erykah Badu who posed for Givenchy’s Spring 2014 collection and Justin Timberlake, who promoted Givenchy’s Play Ads back in 2012.

In addition, the New York City native is working on her sixth project with Pharrell Williams. “She’s gonna get ready to do something super next level,” he says.

Ziggy Marley Performs 'I Don't Wanna Live on Mars' on 'Arsenio' [VIDEO]

If you’ve had the chance to listen to Ziggy Marley‘s new album, ‘Fly Rasta,’ you’ll quickly notice that the reggae artist has been influenced by many different genres. And when he dropped by ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ Tuesday night (May 6), he showcased one of those new sounds with ‘I Don’t Wanna Live on Mars.’

While keeping with the calm and relaxed vibe of reggae music, the track has a more pop-rock feel as Ziggy sings while playing electric guitar. The song is one to sway along with that special someone as the reggae crooner details a sweet and lyrically quirky love letter to the one who’s taken his heart.

“I don’t want to live on Mars / I don’t want to drive space cars / I just want to be with you / Do the things we do / Don’t want to escape to the moon / Even if the world went boom / I just want to be with you / And do the right things to you,” he sings on the chorus.

Aside from the performance, Ziggy also takes a moment to chat about a number of topics with Arsenio Hall including gardening, ganja and the love he has for his late father, Bob Marley. He also talks about his first meeting with Pres. Barack Obama.

“It was fun,” Ziggy starts. “It was good. It was at the Easter Egg Roll a few years ago. Cool, coolio.”

Arsenio even asks if he mentioned the legalization of marijuana to the president. “No, I think he already knew what’s up with that,” Ziggy responds laughing. “He knows what’s up.”

He continues diplomatically, “Most of us know the truth that the plant is a natural plant that nature’s provided us with for many different uses. Smoking is one of them, but it’s not the only use.”

He also chats about his children’s book, ‘I Love You, Too.’

“Well, this was penned one day after going into the kitchen one day, and my daughter, she was coloring in her book. She two or three years old at the time. And out of nowhere she just said, ‘I love you!’ for no reason. She just said I love you. And I said, ‘I love you, too.’ And so we started creating the words for this. It was sung from the ‘Family Time’ record and the kids record. Then it became a book. It’s just an expression of love.”

Nothing warms our hearts more than Ziggy expressing his love for his family. Catch the rest of the interview below.

50 Cent Showcases Violent Abduction in 'Irregular Heartbeat' Video

50 Cent may have been kidnapped in his video for ‘Smoke,’ but the tables have turned in the Eif Rivera-directed visual for his new song ‘Irregular Heartbeat.’

This video shows 50, Kidd Kidd and Jadakiss (who are both also featured on the track), walking through an abandoned building spitting rhymes that intimidate and put fear in enemies. As they deliver their lines, a man is violently abducted from his home. Not only do we see him get beat up, but it’s all done in front of his family. Although the kidnappers remain masked throughout the whole video, there is a correlation between the rappers’ lyrics and the visual’s storyline.

“N—-, you p—-, you scared / I can hear your heartbeat / Why the f— would you come around here, I can hear your heartbeat,” Fiddy delivers on the hook.

The video arrives just hours after Fif shared the track with fans. The song will be featured on his new LP, ‘Animal Ambition,’ arriving June 3.

Monica Lewinsky: Thanks Beyonce, But You're Wrong (@Vladtv)

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, former Presidential scandal girl Monica Lewinsky had a slight correction for Queen Bey's "Partition" lyrics. In one of the more popular songs from her self-titled, surprise released, fifth studio album, Bey spit-sings over the throbbing beat:

"He popped all my buttons and he ripped my blouse, he Monica Lewinsky'd all on my gown!"

While we all went a little crazy over this new sexual side of Beyonce we weren't prepared for, Ms Lewinsky had a few words of her own. "Thanks, Beyoncé," said Lewinsky. "But if we're verbing, I think you meant 'Bill Clinton'd all on my gown,' not 'Monica Lewinsky'd.'"

Aside from fact checking pop songs, Monica's legacy has maintained a near constant level of relevancy due to songs like last year's "Rap God" from Eminem (one of a few references the rapper has made), as well as nods from Kid Cudi, Kanye, Raekwon and Migos. In the interview Monica also discusses how much that one moment has hurt her reputation, but that she's also starting to take a stand to move her life forward and reshape the public's perception.

Exclusive! Stars of "Divergent" Talk Strong Female Leads (@MekhiPhifer)

Maggie Q and Mekhi Phifer sat down with VladTV to discuss their film "Divergent," its strong female leads, and how the temptation to join a certain group in the film can parallel our need to join certain groups in our own lives.

Maggie Q acknowledged her love for lead character Tris and how vulnerable she is, saying that a character (or person for that matter) who exudes confidence at all times doesn't necessarily mean they're strong.

Mekhi feels that the divisive nature of the Sci-Fi film directly reflects our culture, and she compares it to teens being forced to make lifelong decisions based on little knowledge, with kids seeing the flash and wealth of the streets and choosing that path, not knowing that it may not be as glamorous as it appears.

The-Dream Arrested for Felony Assault, Strangulation

The-DreamChristopher Polk, Getty Images

The-Dream turned himself in to New York City police Wednesday morning (May 7) for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

According to TMZ, the R&B singer walked into a New York City police department around 8:30AM ET to answer to the charges made against him by ex-girlfriend Lydia Nam.

Dream has been charged with assault, as well as strangulation, which are both felonies. He was also charged with three misdemeanors: reckless endangerment, assault and child endangerment since Nam was pregnant with his child at the time of the alleged incident in 2013.

Last week, The Boombox reported that the NYPD was investigating The-Dream for hitting, kicking and choking Nam in 2013. The charges are emerging now because she didn’t notify authorities until seven months later. This isn’t the first time police were called to deal with a violent situation involving the two. A previous fight between the couple in their California home ended with Nam deciding not to press charges.

The ‘Black’ singer is still in custody. As of now, there’s no word on The-Dream’s bail and he’s yet to comment about any of the accusations.

Ray J Is Getting Rid of Donald Sterling-Owned Apartments [VIDEO]

Ray J is an angry man. Why? For the same reason a lot of folks are since Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling made those racist remarks.

According to TMZ, Brandy’s little brother is getting rid of his Donald Sterling-owned apartments. Apparently, he rents two units and subleases both to other people.

In a 49-second video, the R&B singer and current host of the Oxygen channel’s ‘Bad Girls All-Star Battle’ said getting rid of both apartments is the right thing to do. He’s also sporting a Los Angeles Clippers cap, but the logo of the team is turned upside down, which is obviously another way that Ray J is showing his disdain for Sterling.

“F— Donald Sterling,” yelled the ‘I Hit It First’ crooner. “I got two apartments that I lease out to other people. I’m canceling that s—.”

Since audio leaked of a racist-filled conversation Sterling had with his then-girlfriend, he has since been served with a lifetime ban from the NBA.

TMZ also asked Ray J about the lack of black comedians at President Obama’s recent dinner event. “There’s no room for race,” he said in response. “It ain’t about white, black, Mexican. It’s about people.”

It’s safe to say that most people would probably agree with Ray J. Well, at least we hope that’s the case.

"Everybody told us that we weren't supposed to be her we moved from apartment to apartment, by ourselves. One of the best memories I had is when we moved into our first apartment. No bed, no furniture, and we all just sat in the living room and hugged each other. We thought we made it."

Prince Covers Essence Magazine's June 2014 Issue

Prince EssenceEssence

Prince gave Essence magazine a rare interview ahead of his headline performance at the 20th anniversary Essence Festival during Fourth of July weekend.

In a cover story for the June 2014 issue, the Purple One discusses his life as a musician and why he doesn’t curse in his music.

“Did you ever hear Muhammad Ali curse? Would you curse in front of your kids? To your mother?” he asked the publication (quotes via Today). He names several female artists, including Janelle Monae, then continues, “They’re all my sisters. We shouldn’t curse at them. We need to treat all of them, and all people, like royalty.”

When asked what was the one secret to his longevity in the music business, Prince says being spontaneous helps fuel his creativity.

“A real musician is always in creative mode,” he says.

‘The Breakdown’ artist enjoys the spontaneity of performing with his new band 3rd Eye Girl as opposed to the structural, well-rehearsed format with his former band The Revolution.

“[To] ask them to do what we did tonight? To improvise? There would be a problem,” he explains. “That’s what I love about this new arrangement. The energy. They’re in the moment.” He pauses, and continues, “I’m not putting down The Revolution, even though people would love to see us together again. I owe a great debt to them. But I’m doing something else.”

Speaking of The Revolution, Prince has secured a deal with his former label Warner Bros. to debut a 30th anniversary reissue of the ‘Purple Rain’ soundtrack, which will feature previously unreleased material.

However, the 55-year-old music icon is still cautious about working with major labels.

“Every time I talk to the heads of large companies, they’re always at the beach. Middle of the afternoon. ‘Oh, I’m at the beach with my kids,’” he said. “So we’re working to send their kids to college. And to the beach. We’re not supposed to accept that.”

Essence Magazine’s June 2014 issue, with Prince on the cover, will hit newsstands on May 9.

Along with Prince, Ledisi, Mary J. Blige, Lionel Richie, Erykah Badu and 112, among others, will perform at the 2014 Essence Music Festival. For tickets, head to Ticketmaster here.
