After releasing ‘Christ Conscious’ earlier this week (Oct. 30), Joey Bada$$ debuts the visual for the track and shows us a very enlightened version of himself.
Directed by M-I-E, the video starts off with the rapper walking through the tight hallways of a building and cuts to the streets of New York. Initially, you think that this is just going to be one of those videos where a rapper walks through the streets of his hometown and deliveries rhymes. However, things start to take a different turn when shapes and graphics flare out of him and animations take form in the background.
Things are taken to another level when Joey stands on a rooftop and levitates by some power. As he’s lifted into the sky, the Brooklyn native transcends space and time and is brought to another consciousness.

Chris Brown Remixes French Montana's 'Don't Panic'
French Montana‘s ‘Don’t Panic’ is one of the hottest songs in rotation right now and frequent clubgoer Chris Brown decided to add his flavor to it with a remix. On Wednesday, Funkmaster Flex premiered Breezy’s remix of the DJ Mustard-blessed track.
Instead of singing, Brown dons his MC cap and spits a hardcore verse after French’s infectious opening hook.
“Strapped up, pistol with the bandanas / Extended clip, gotta hide it from the damn cameras / Man, I’m only smokin’ Cali kush / When I’m on the plane, I got your bitch rollin’ the blunts, I call it high standards,” he raps.
Brown’s latest remix follows the crooner’s reworkings of club songs like ILoveMakonnen’s ‘Tuesday’ and Snootie Wild’s ‘Made Me.’
In the meantime, Brown’s ‘X’ album fell down four notches from the No. 2 to No. 6 position on the Billboard 200 chart. In other good news, his R&B ballad, ‘New Flame,’ featuring his good pal Usher, is the No. 1 song on urban radio.

Tiara Thomas might be singing about having a fling in her track, ‘One Night,’ but she’s living more dangerously in its accompanying video.
Set mainly in an old bank, Tiara and her girls come in dressed in some of the most fashionable bank robber ensembles you’ve ever seen. While the video does look like an updated version of 1996′s ‘Set It Off’ — her favorite movie — the Indianapolis-bred singer and rapper takes some time to perform for us and show us the woman behind the mask.
Midway through the visual, the bad girls take one of the employees hostage. He just so happens to be the guy Tiara was previously on a date with. Just when you think he’s been punked, it’s revealed that he’s actually part of the heist. And although it seems like they got away with it, the video ends with police lights filling the room.
‘One Night’ is the new single off Tiara’s forthcoming debut album, ‘The Bad Influence.’

DJ Quik Debuts 'Pet Sematary' Video
As he gears up to release his ninth studio album, ‘The Midnight Life,’ and celebrate more than 20 years in the game, DJ Quik drops ‘Pet Sematary,’ a new single from the effort.
Peculiarly named, fans might not know what to think when first seeing the cover art for ‘Pet Sematary’ since it easily reflects the 1989 cover to Stephen King’s similarly titled horror novel.
But don’t let the fading yellow cat eyes and fiery lava seeping through the ground’s core take away from Quik’s signature Compton twang. He spits over a smooth, Chicago-like stepping music beat with a touch of Harlem Renaissance jazz to top things off.
“Anything I do for music’s never celebrated / Y’all killin’ the game like pesticides / But DJ Quik is unpasteurized / Our music is flawless, my lyrics is lawless / You’re hood wouldn’t be eatin’ / I’m the reason for all this…I ‘m just tryin’ to be the R&B savior with the instrumental,” Quik raps.
In the accompanying video for the track, the rapper hits the Compton streets, showing what a chill day in his life is really like. He takes a trip to the store, hangs with his homies and even highlights two gal pals that seem more like bullies than babes.

Flying Lotus Explores Life After Death in 'Never Catch Me' Video Featuring Kendrick Lamar
Flying Lotus sticks with the morbid theme of his forthcoming fifth album, ‘You’re Dead,’ in the visuals for his Kendrick Lamar-assisted track ‘Never Catch Me.’
The Hiro Murai-directed effort explores life after death and takes the fantastical dream state imagery in the producer’s 2012 video for “’Until the Quiet Comes”’ a step further. A funeral sets the tone for the clip, but sadness soon turns to joy for the young boy and girl in the caskets as their souls jump out and they get their groove on.
While their family mourns in the church, the two kids celebrate the afterlife by kicking up their feet and swinging their arms to the music only they hear. “This that life beyond your own life, this ain’t physical for mankind / This that out-of-body experience, no coincidence you been died,” Kendrick raps.
After heading outside, they continue the fancy footwork and drive off in a hearse with a smile planted on their faces.
The song appears on ‘You’re Dead,’ arriving Oct. 7. Snoop Dogg also delivers rhymes on a track, ‘Dead Man’s Tetris.’

French Montana Divorces Deen Kharbouch
French Montana is officially a single man. The New York-bred rapper has finalized his divorce from his now ex-wife Deen Kharbouch this week.
The former couple finalized the split in a New Jersey courtroom on Monday (Sept. 29), Hollywood Life reports. The couple’s divorce was amicable and profitable for Kharbouch. An insider ells the gossip website that a $2 million settlement was reached during the proceedings.
“He will have to pay her a large chunk of his fortune but come on they had a son together while married too,” said the source.
Although Montana and Kharbouch were living separately and dating other people, they weren’t able to finalize the divorce because of the rapper’s hectic schedule.
“[Montana] was in court on Monday and basically they wrapped up his divorce peacefully,” said the source. “They had been together for a long time and they were with each other when neither had money. It’s all wrapped up.”
Prior to his divorce, Montana was dating Khloe Kardashian, who, ironically, is still married to Lamar Odom on paper. They recently separated after eight months of courtship and there’s no word if they will rekindle their relationship.
During an appearance on MTV’s ‘Rap Fix Live,’ Montana told Sway that his main focus is to take care of his son and family.
“As long as I take care of my family, make sure my son is good. I feel like that’s a weight off my shoulder, you know, I could sleep good,” he said.

One of Boston’s oldest rock institutions is the Rathskeller, or more affectionately ‘The Rat’ as dubbed by bands and fans alike. The important venue is paid even further homage by yet another Boston institution with the Concepts x Vans Old Skool ‘Rat Hunter’.
The tricked out silhouette is given an upper that feels both punk and high fashion for a very unique blend. A cream suede heel, toe and lining plays the bookends to denim paneling and grey cracked leather detailing as an ode to duct tape. The red checkered midsole is a funky addition that adds an extra ounce of pop and is continued on the insole with special ‘Rat King’ graphics as well.
Look for these to be available at Concepts on Oct. 4 retailing at $90. For those about to rock them, we salute you.
