Since news broke that a Celebrity Boxing Match between George Zimmerman and DMX was officially set for March 15, social media went into a frenzy with a myriad of emotions. There were many who felt Zimmerman got away with murder were excited about the idea of seeing DMX pummel the Florida man. Though some were repulsed by the thought that anyone would want to profit from the death of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old boy Zimmerman shot dead in his neighborhood back in February of 2012.
But one woman didn't just react emotionally on social media, instead she got organized. Five days ago when she caught word that boxing promoter Damon Feldman was looking for an opponent to fight Zimmerman, she started a change.org petition in an effort to stop the fight from happening.
"I thought it was a complete demonstration of disrespect to Trayvon's parents, to Trayvon himself and to the many people who feel impacted by this injustice," Janet Dickerson told NewsOne. "It became clear that people were really outraged by this, so I thought that it would certainly be worthwhile to put up this petition. And I see on his Twitter feed that he is trying to create a racialized event."
"I'm not trying to start a personal thing with Mr. Feldman," she said. This is about community building. This is about organizing people on an issue that everyone is outraged about and urging them to tweet about it. Of course he will be included in my tweets and I'm pretty sure at this point that he knows he has been put on notice. But I didn't want to make it a person thing. I wanted to keep it where it was, which is a community issue, something that we have an obligation to speak up and out about and honor the memory of Trayvon and his family."
What do you think about a petition to shut down the upcoming boxing match between George Zimmerman and DMX? Is it justified? Or should the match go on? Sound off below!

Fail Games: Journalists Tweet About Awful Sochi Conditions
The 2014 Winter Olympic Games don't kick off until Friday, but already they're looking to be a debacle. At a cost of $51 billion, this year's Games in the Russian city of Sochi are far and away the most expensive Olympics ever. However, despite the astounding amount of money already spent (the IOC estimates that up to one third of the entire budget was embezzled by contractors and officials), by all accounts the infrastructure is still far from being up to the task of hosting the biggest sporting event on earth.
As journalists from all over the world descend on Sochi, they've been taking to social media to reveal the abhorrent conditions they're encountering, and many of the tweets have been intentionally hilarious.
Stray animals everywhere, hotels missing entire lobbies, and toxic tap water are just some of the current perils the media faces in Sochi.
Take a look up top at some of the photos and tweets from journalists.

Rihanna Offers to Cover Funeral Costs for Murdered Teenage Fan (@rihanna)
14-year-old Thiago Sobral Valencia was a huge fan of Rihanna, and when the singer learned of his tragic death she shared her condolences on Twitter.
"R.I.P. To one of our fallen soldiers, brutally murdered yesterday in Brazil! 14 year old Thiago, will forever be in our hearts! #Navy," she wrote.
However, it was much worse than that. Thiago was stabbed to death by his drunken stepfather, but so was his 9-year-old brother Santos Osvaldo and their mother Vanessa Sobral.
"Just learned that Thiago's mother and sibling were also murder victims in the horrible and tragic turn of events! Dear God! #Navy#RIPThiago," the Barbadian singer tweeted upon learning the news.
It appears Rihanna then had her people get in contact with Thiago's biological father to offer her sympathies. Eronilton Santos said Rih Rih's camp went above and beyond with the support they offered the devastated family.
"I was surprised that they're concerned about it. The representative said that it was a request from Rihanna herself, who wanted to offer all kinds of help. They wanted to pay for the funeral, but I only asked if she would provide a tribute to him. The only thing I thought is that from heaven, where he is, he's going to see this gesture. The impact of the message she posted about it on Twitter was huge."
"He never went [to Rihanna's concert] because of the lack of money. Since last year, when he knew she would come to Brazil, he began to save money in a safe to be able to see her."
Rihanna still keeps in contact with the family and hopes they will accept her donation.

Ziggy Marley Adds Reggae Vibes to Cody Simpson's 'Love' Video
Seeing Ziggy Marley and Australian pop star Cody Simpson work on a track together seems a little out of the reggae artist’s element. However, on the their new collaboration, ‘Love,’ the two blend their sounds seamlessly, delivering a warm summery track that will warm anyone up this winter. The video for the effort does much of the same.
Sitting by the fireside with guitar in hand, Marley looks cool and the wiser of the two as they sing about love. The acoustic pop reggae track, which carries Marley’s signature Jamaican sound, is a rather simple song. However, he proves that there is a sweetness and wisdom in the simplicity of lyrics as he starts to walk around singing about the joys of the heartfelt emotion.
“Love can be amazing / So let me start by saying / Let me start by giving all the love I have / Hey, love is a lovely thing / So come on, let’s embrace it / Know that it can take us to another space, another place,” Marley sings in the visual.
While there is no news of any upcoming live performances with the two or future collaborations, it is nice to see Marley show the Aussie singer his reggae roots.
Ziggy Marley, who scored the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album at last month’s ceremony, is currently on tour to promote his latest LP, ‘Fly Rasta,’ as well as his first children’s book, ‘I Love You, Too.’
Exclusive! T-Pain Angered by Homophobia in Hip-Hop (@tpain)
T-Pain addresses a previous comparison he made concerning Ray J after seeing his sex tape with Kim Kardashian, which led into a conversation about people being homophobic. The "Up Down" rapper believes that "if you aren't gay, then gay things shouldn't bother you."
The conversation then turns to T-Pain's gay assistant, which the rapper says has made other people uncomfortable to approach him in the club or any time they are together. He believes that there is so much homophobia in hip-hop that it stops people from working with talented artists like Frank Ocean, which T-Pain says is "terrible, because they need Frank Ocean on the song." The Florida native adds that he doesn't work with anyone who's homophobic in the business and who cut others off over the way they want to live their lives.
Prodigy Makes a Horror Flick With 'IMDKV' Video
Prodigy is a veteran New York gangsta rap legend, but what is perhaps too slept on is that he can do horrorcore well. Picture a brain stabbed with a nose bone for a second. The lyrical half of Mobb Deep again channels something gruesome in the video for ‘IMDKV,’ a track off his ‘Albert Einstein’ collaboration with the Alchemist.
The record features Prodigy detailing murderous fantasies like being “on some brutal crime s—, get your eyeball sliced.” It’s visualized here.
The rapper poses with a spiked bat and a bloodied, blindfolded male in Tha Profitt-directed clip. This is the result of a plot conspired with actor Tray Chaney, who’s better known as Poot from ‘The Wire.’ It’s not known why the man is victimized, but he crossed the wrong person apparently.
Prodigy will release his next solo effort, ‘The Most Infamous,’ later this year.
Melody Ehsani x Reebok Pump Omni Lite Sneakers
Hey ladies, take a look at these kicks! The Melody Ehsani x Reebok Classics Pump Omni Lite “Love Me or Hate Me” sneaker has to be the oddest shoe we have ever seen thus far. And like its title, some people hate them while others love it. What’s even more shocking is the frenzy over these sneakers.
When Ehsani released them for sale at her official webstore Saturday (Feb. 1), it crashed her website. Six hours later, she had the site up and running and her Reebok pumps sold out within minutes.
If you are still scratching your head at the design of the sneaker, we’ll break it down for you.
The Persian designer chose Reebok’s classic Pump Omni Lite, which NBA legend Dee Brown wore to win the 1991 Slam Dunk contest, to create her masterpiece.
She gave the upper a multi-colored python-inspired print with matching laces (there’s also three sets of laces included as well). She then added two gold “Love” debrays and a rubber padlock hangtag, which can also be used as a bracelet or necklace. Fashionable and functional — we love it!
The “Pump” tongue stays true to the original sneaker and has a dark gum-colored bottom.
The limited-edition Melody Ehsani x Reebok Pump Omni Lite sneaker will be available at select retailers this Friday (Feb. 7). You can cop them at Extra Butter in New York and at Wish in Atlanta. The kicks retail for $200. Good luck!

French Montana Explains Arrest During 2014 Super Bowl Weekend
The mystery behind French Montana’s arrest during Super Bowl Weekend in New York has finally been solved.
The Coke Boy leader, along with Chinx Drugz and Jadakiss, was placed in handcuffs while leaving Funkmaster Flex’s pre-Super Bowl Tunnel “Revival” party at BB King Blues club in Times Square early Feb. 1.
The ‘Ain’t Worried About Nothin’ rapper told TMZ that police were out to give him a “reality check” and busted him for a 5-year-old warrant for driving on a suspended license. He was later released and performed at Diddy’s Super Bowl bash with Drake at Time Warner Studios.
“I had to let the people know that no matter where you come from [or] how big you make it they (police) still waiting on me,” he told TMZ.
“I do a party every weekend, this one weekend, they grabbed me,” he added. “F— ‘em.”
Despite his arrest, Montana is in good spirits.
“I’m doing good, I’m doing excellent. I got a good lawyer,” he said.
Hooligan Boyz Rapper Killed by Fellow Group Member During Fight
In a bizarre twist of events, a rising San Antonio, Texas rapper has allegedly died at the hands of a fellow artist. Hooligan Boyz rhymer Miguel Silva (aka M.I.G.) was killed last Saturday (Feb. 1) after he got into a fist fight with a group member.
According to KENS5.com, the Hooligan Boyz performed a show in Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday (Jan. 31). After the performacne, the trio went to an Embassy Suites hotel in the area. Then police received a call early Saturday morning that one of the three band members was unconscious.
When officers arrived, they discovered Silva unconscious on the hotel floor and immediately performed CPR, but it was too late.
Hooligan Boyz member Christopher Garza was arrested and charged with the murder of Silva. Authorities have not revealed the reason why the two members were fighting in the first place.
On Tuesday (Feb. 5), a judge denied Garza’s request for bail and will remain in custody at the Neuces County Jail in Corpus Christi.
Friends and family are grieving over the loss of Silva, who was well-respected in his San Antonio hometown.
“You might see all these tats and all that say ‘Hooligans’ or say ‘Say-Town,’ but he just wanted to represent who he was and [represent] San Antonio,” said Steven Silva, Miguel’s cousin.
Although Steven forgives Garza, he added that he must be held accountable for his actions.
“I forgive you Chris…I really do forgive you, man, but I don’t think you had to exceed that limit… you didn’t have to push it that far,” he told KENS5.com.
To help with Miguel Silva’s funeral costs, the family has set up a memorial fund. A special tribute concert is being held tonight (Feb. 5) in Miguel Silva’s honor in San Antonio.
We send our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Silva family.
Exclusive! Young Scooter Details Sharing Cell With Gucci Mane (@gucci1017 @1youngscooter)
Rapper Young Scooter opens up about sharing a cell with Gucci Mane, and recalls how they talked about getting out. He also speaks about Gucci not being on his new mixtape, but explains it's because "He's locked up, what's he supposed to do." Scooter adds that he's not worried about beef between Waka and Gucci because he's focused on the success of Black Migo Gang right now.
NYC Mayor Boycotts St. Patrick's Day Parade for Rejecting Gays (@deBlasioNYC)
NYC's new mayor, Bill de Blasio has confirmed that he won't march in this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade, because the parade doesn't allow gay groups to march. He told reporters, "I will be participating in a number of other events to honor the Irish heritage of this city and the contributions of Irish-Americans, but I simply disagree with the organizers of that parade in their exclusion of some individuals in this city."
Bill de Blasio did emphasize he didn't march in the parade as Public Advocate. However, responding to the call from gay rights groups and city officials like Public Advocate Letitia James to ban uniformed city employees (like cops and firefighters) from marching, he said, "I believe that uniformed city workers have a right to participate if they choose to and I respect that right."
The Catholic League was outraged at de Blasio's stance, with its president Bill Donohue saying, "This is the first time in New York City history that its mayor has decided to boycott the St. Patrick's Day parade. Personally, I am delighted: I lead the Catholic League contingent every year, and I do not want to march with a public official who does not want to be associated with Irish Catholics."

Kelela Releases Pulsating New Song 'The High'
All eyes are on Kelela Mizanekristos right now. The Los Angeles-based artist made a big splash last year with her mixtape, ‘Cut 4 Me.’ Her contribution on Solange’s ‘Saint Heron’ compilation didn’t hurt either. Now she’s back with a new single titled ‘The High.’
The song, produced by Gifted & Blessed, is a pulsating track on which the 30-year-old songstress coos intimate sexual metaphors to her lover.
“Your hands are firmly around my waist / Then moving south my savin’ grace / Patience was wearin’ oh-so thin / A surge of adrenaline,” she sings.
During the six-minute track, there are moments where Kelela is sighing and oohing for sexual contact. “I’ll do anything for the high,” she yearns.
‘The High’ is certainly a slow-burning love song that will make you feel tingly inside.
If you want to see Kelela live, she’ll be performing at the SXSW music conference in Austin, Texas from March 12 to March 14. That’s followed by a Los Angeles show on April 2 and a concert at Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Rough Trade venue on April 3.

2 Chainz Working on 'B.O.A.T.S. III' Album, Releases 'Ima Dog'
Thankfully, 2014 has the rap return of 2 Chainz. After releasing two albums in the past two years, the Atlanta rapper says he’s working on the third album in the ‘B.O.A.T.S’ series now.
Deuce made the announcement via Twitter and also offered a preview of what’s to come on the upcoming project. He delivers more punchline party rap goodness in his new song, ‘Ima Dog’ featuring Skooly.
Although his sophomore effort sold less than his debut LP, 2 Chainz is still in good spirits on this DJ Spinz-produced track. Examples of how well-off he is include, “My flow is ’bout money, and I still ain’t got no ceilings,” “I got acres, I never met my neighbors” and “See I’ma dog, come in your yard and take a s—.” At least the Feds aren’t watching him this time, since he’s allowed to take a poop in people’s yard.
2 Chainz kicked off his 2 Good To Be T.R.U. tour last night at Boston’s House of Blues.

SWV Team Up With Sean Garrett in 'SWV Reunited' Sneak Peek [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]
As the ladies of SWV solidify themselves in the world of reality TV with the upcoming fourth episode of their WE tv series, ‘SWV Reunited,’ The Boombox is here to give you an exclusive first look at this week’s saga, which includes arguments over songwriting.
With so much riding on the trio’s comeback, Coko, Lelee and Taj decide to meet up with renowned singer-songwriter Sean Garrett to talk about working on a forthcoming track. But before the girls can step through the door, Lelee can’t help but take notice of the Atlanta native and all that makes him a “cute little chocolate man.” There’s no question Lelee always has sex on the brain, but when it’s time to get down to business, she knows how to put the blinders up.
Infatuated with Twitter and other social media avenues that open the gateways for computer thugs, SWV tell Garrett they want to write a song about “chicks hatin’ on other chicks ’cause they man like that chick.” What will the song be called? Guess you’ll have to watch the new episode to find out.
Tune in to ‘SWV Reunited’ Thursdays at 10PM E/P on WE tv.
French Montana Laughs Off Super Bowl Arrest
TMZ recently caught up with French Montana, where they asked him about his recent arrest over Super Bowl weekend, and the rapper couldn't seem happier. French revealed that he was popped for a warrant dating back to 2008 for driving on a suspended license, but said he wasn't worried about anything, because he's "doing great" and has a great lawyer.
Drake Previews New Songs at New York City Nightclub [VIDEO]
Drake offered patrons in a New York City nightclub a treat Monday night (Feb. 3). The Toronto rapper previewed two new tracks as he and French Montana were turning up at Griffin.
One of the songs features the smooth vocals of none other than Aaliyah in addition to some singing from Drake. The song heard in the first clip below sounds very similar to the Aailyah-featured track the rapper previewed last year. It’s possible there’s more stray projects like these from the canceled posthumous Aaliyah album.
The other song is more braggadocios Drake. This effort has the potential to be banger not just because of that beat (although it’s excellent), but also because it’s a Drizzy song and he’s had a perfect batting average these past few months. After all, bachata might be hitting the mainstream thanks to him.
While hearing new Drake songs is always a pleasure, there’s still no word on when that ‘Wu-Tang Forever’ remix will arrive.

"I love it. Y'all weather's a bit gloomy right now, I like gloomy weather," said K. Dot. "I work best and do most of my album under gloomy weather, so you'll hear a lot of dark tracks in there."
What do you think about Kendrick's next album possibly having a 'dark' undertone? Is that something you'd be looking forward to hearing from K. Dot? Chime in below.

Breast Augmentation Surgery Leaves Woman Brain Damaged
A 19-year-old woman fell into a coma following breast augmentation surgery in August of last year, and today, the young woman is unable to move and speak.
An hour after Linda Perez underwent breast augmentation surgery last year, the then-18-year-old suffered brain damage and slipped into a coma for a few weeks. Six months later, Perez is extremely thin and frail, and her family must take care of her around the clock.
"I'm sick that she can't be like she used to be," said her mother, Mariela Diaz, to the Miami Herald. Diaz says that her daughter has had small "victories" since the surgery, and although doctors say that she may never recover from the brain damage, Diaz and the rest of her family are all holding out hope.
Still, the road has not and will not be easy. Perez is apparently aware of her condition and has fallen into a depression because of what happened to her. "She goes into depression and crying," said Diaz. "She sees that she cannot walk, and when she realizes what happened to her she cries."
The family reportedly plans to file a medical malpractice suit against the cosmetic surgery center where Perez underwent the procedure.

Pusha T: Macklemore Had One of the Best Grinds Ever in Music (@PUSHA_T @macklemore)
Macklemore's Grammy wins are still a topic of discussion, and as with everyone Pusha T was recently asked what he thought on the controversy surrounding Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' wins, which included Best Rap Album and Best New Artist during an interview with Montreality.
Pusha gave props to both Kendrick Lamar, who was seen as a favorite, and Macklemore who has been met with a lot of criticism.
"I look at Kendrick. You know, I look at Jay Z. I look at the nominees. It was a wide spectrum," the Virginia rapper said. "Macklemore, he won as well. People are sort of in an uproar about it. And I just think that's a personal opinion thing. I think Kendrick had the best album to fall within that timeframe, but it's cool. Macklemore won and I think Macklemore had one of the best grinds I think I've ever seen in music, so it's whatever. You can respect it from either way."
Pusha T also offered some details regarding his anticipated "King Push" album, which is due out this year.
"It's in the beginning stages. I been in with Pharrell and Chad," he said. "And people been seeing me—I was in Miami for a little while, so any producer that was down there I'mma try to link up with in between time with The Neptunes. Just see what everybody got, but it's in the beginning stages. And I think everybody's gonna be really happy with this album. I'm really taking my time with it. So, that's the plan, but I'm not forcing any of this music. It has to live up to the title King Push."
