Model From The Weeknd Music Video Reveals She Was Born Male (@geenarocero)

Model and activist Geena Rocero left many shocked after she revealed at a TED Talk last week that she was born a male. Rocero then announced the launch of Gender Proud, a campaign aimed at bringing awareness to the fact that only a few countries allow transgender people to update the gender on their legal documentation without first having to undergo forced sterilization or genital surgery.

Having legal documentation that doesn't match one's appearance can be a major source of anxiety for transgender individuals and opens the door for discrimination.

Rocero is probably best known as the woman who stars alongside The Weeknd in the super trippy music video for his song "The Knowing."

Nike.com

If you were wondering what to wait in line for at retailers this weekend Nike has made your decision a little tougher with the Air Jordan “Wolf Grey” Collection, which is our Sneaker Of The Week.

The two-for release includes an Air Jordan 9 and an Air Jordan 1 and both silhouettes draw inspiration from Michael’s days spent on the baseball diamond. A stark black and white palette is broken up by hits of wolf grey and subtle details like a pin strip lining really drive the point home.

The set of sneakers comes complete with apparel including jerseys, tee’s, caps and shorts that further illustrate the point that Mike was twice as nice when it came to his dual sportsmanship. The set will be available starting tomorrow at Nike.com as well as select retailers.

Flatbush Zombies Continue the 'Day of the Dead' Series with 'Get Yours'

Facebook

The Flatbush Zombies have announced they would be releasing a new EP later this year, but the Brooklyn trio are holding fans over with a new weekly series called ‘Day of the Dead’. The Beast Coast group offers up their second entry into the series with ‘Get Yours’ featuring singer Diamante.

Like most of their work, this latest Flatbush Zombies cut is produced by group member Erick “Arc” Elliott. But this time around, the familiar voice of Meechy Darko is missing. Luckily, Elliott and Zombie Juice do a fine job handling the rhymes on this one.

Zombie Juice raps, “A hero, destiny, I’ll be on my soon / together we can bloom, one off to the moon / it’s not whatcha thankin’ / I ain’t my mom’s a spankin’ / anxious, impatient, taught myself how to face it / to the brothers, and the sisters, no wishlist, no Christmas / just a witness, of a vicious, abusiveness system.”

The Flatbush Zombies will continue to release weekly tracks as part of the ‘Day of the Dead’ series as they prep for the release of their ‘It’s All a Matter of Perspective’ EP.

Fashawn Drops Anthemic Track 'Champion'

Fashawn ChampionSoundcloud

Fashawn is one of the most respected lyricists from the West Coast. His 2009 debut ‘Boy Meets World‘ has even been compared to Nas’ 1994 classic LP, ‘Illmatic.’ Despite that, he hasn’t churned out much new material in the form of an album but 2014 could see a change in that. Today, the rapper returns with a new song ‘Champion,’ inspired by his friendship with WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.

The anthemic song, produced by Fashawn’s longtime collaborator Exile, was recorded specifically for Bradley’s entrance when he fights Manny Pacquiao on April 12 in Las Vegas.

Over stirring orchestral strings and a punchy beat, Fashawn spits braggadocios rhymes about his prowess on the mic and his victories in rap battles.

“My momma should have name me victor / Cause victories is all I see when I look in the mirror, couldn’t be clearer,” he raps. “Undisputed, youngest to do it / Nice with the jab like Tim Bradley / Any weight class / Light or heavy I’ll be ready / Y’all rhymers ain’t even kinda deadly, check the medley.”

On Instagram, Fashawn speaks highly of Bradley, whose boxing record currently stands at 31 wins and zero losses.

“Shout out to the champ Tim Bradley. He might be one of the deadliest men alive but, he’s also a really down to earth dude. True champion,” he wrote recently.

You can cop Fashawn’s ‘Champion’ on iTunes.

Trick Daddy was arrested for cocaine and firearm possession in Miami last night (April 3). According to NBC 6, the rapper, whose real name is Maurice Young, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon and driving with a suspended license.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies found cocaine and an illegal handgun at Trick Daddy’s home in Miramar, Fla. The Broward County Drug Task Force obtained a “sniff warrant” to search Trick Daddy’s home according to the arrest affidavit. Police stopped him as he was leaving in his car. The veteran rhymer, famous for songs like ‘Nann N—-’ and ‘I’m a Thug,’ admitted to having powder cocaine in his home and told deputies he is a convicted felon.

Deputies reportedly found one gram of cocaine, a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol and ammunition during their search of the house. Trick Daddy was booked into jail and later released on $6,100 bond according to court records obtained by CBS Miami.

This is not Trick Daddy’s first time being arrested for cocaine possession as he served two and a half years in prison back in 1991, for similar charges. Of course, this was well before his rap career took off as it was 1996 when Trick Daddy (then known as Trick Daddy Dollars) made his first notable recoding as a guest artist o 2 Live Crew founder Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell’s ‘Scarred’ single.

The southern entertainer is best known for his run of hit singles in the early 2000s including ‘Shut Up’, ‘Take It to Da House’ and ‘Let’s Go,’ among others. In recent years, he left his longtime home of Slip-N-Slide Records and created his own imprint known as Dunk Ryders. His latest project was a mixtape titled ‘Dick & Dynamite,’ which he released in 2012.

Pharrell Avoids 'Happy,' Retires Hat in 'SNL' Promo [VIDEO]

Catching the promotional videos leading up to a new episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ is just as exciting as the actual episode. This week’s promo featuring Pharrell Williams and Anna Kendrick as the host is no different.

From his infamous hat to his even more popular single, ‘Happy,’ there are tons of things to poke fun at on the new ‘SNL.’ And after watching the promotional video, it’s obvious the singer is up for the antics.

When asked about where his hat was, he replies, “Uh, I couldn’t fit it in the elevator. Besides it just got cast in a new Roy Rogers film.”

While he’ll most likely be performing his chart-topping hit, we’re not sure if the hat will be taking some time away from its filming schedule to make the appearance on Saturday night (April 5).

Jennifer Lopez won a fierce bidding war against her ex-boyfriend Diddy to buy Madison Square Garden Company’s Fuse TV.

According to the NY Post and further confirmed by Bloomberg News, J.Lo’s NuvoTV offered MSG $226 million in cash and 15 percent equity stake (reportedly worth $50 million) in the deal.

Diddy came up short by reportedly offering $200 million for Fuse.

“This is a real blow to Diddy and Revolt,” said ex-Fuse chief Eric Sherman, who has also worked with Lopez on ‘American Idol.’ “Fuse was such a perfect fit for them. But having worked with Jennifer on ‘Idol,’ I’m not surprised she and her team prevailed.”

For Lopez, the deal will help expand NuvoTV to a broader market. Currently, the network reaches 34 million households. Now, with the Fuse TV deal, her network will be distributed to 75 million homes.

“Music is my first love so the acquisition of Fuse is near and dear to my heart,” Lopez said in the statement. “It’s exciting that between NuvoTV and Fuse we’ll have the ability to deliver a broad array of terrific content both from a Latino perspective and across multiple genres, including music, to a broader audience.”

Congrats to Jennifer Lopez on her acquisition of Fuse TV.
