Did French Montana Say The Kardashians Brainwash Women? (@FrenchMontana @KhloeKardashian)

French Montana's old tweet about the Kardashian won't sit well with his current rumored love interest.

The internet dug up some of the rapper's old tweets, with one mentioning his disgust for the Keeping Up With The Kardashians. In the alleged tweet, the rapper says "I don't like the kardashian show, it got every girl thinking she gonna marry a basketball player or some kinda entertainer #brainwash"

The date of the tweet is the same year Khloe had a reality show with estranged husband Lamar Odom, but the tweet is still questionable.

French and Khloe dating rumors have been buzzing for a few weeks now, with the two enjoying dinner together in NY over the weekend.

Beyonce Gives an Assist to Boots on 'Dreams'

Boots DreamSoundcloud

Boots has been one of the songwriting and production masterminds behind Beyonce‘s latest self-titled album. Now the producer has just released his own song, ‘Dreams,’ and, of course, got Bey to add her voice to the track.

Like the song’s title, the mid-tempo effort has a dream-like feel. Boots, who co-wrote many of Bey’s well-known tracks including ‘Drunk in Love,’ ‘Partition’ and ‘Haunted,’ tells the eye of his affection not to worry and that he’ll be there for her. Meanwhile, Beyonce joins in mid-way through the song and fluidly expresses her acceptance of his love and how they can take over the world.

“‘Cause baby we’ve got a lot of life to live / You’re the only one that I could stand by / And baby we’ve got a lot of love to give / And baby we could put the whole world on standby,” she sings.

There’s clearly love all over this track, and Boots wanted to make sure to spread that feeling as far as he can by donating the proceeds from the song to Day One, a New York City-based non-profit that focuses on ending dating violence.

“I feel that protecting women from these horrible and unthinkable acts should take precedence in our society,” he wrote on Facebook. “I feel passionate about this because if more women knew that safe places existed from the turmoil they experience, it could possibly prevent these situations from occurring or reoccurring. Every cent made from this song will go directly to http://dayoneny.org.”

“It’s hard to put into words how thankful I am for everything and everyone who helped get this together,” he continued. “I’ve experienced a lot in my life. Good and bad. But through it all, I’m certain every one of those things had to happen to get me right where I am today. I feel very fortunate for that. Thanks for all of your love and support.”

‘Dreams’ is a track off Boots’ upcoming mixtape, ‘WinterSpringSummerFall,’ which is set to release later this fall.

Flatbush Zombies Debut 'My Team Supreme 2.0′ Video With Bodega Bamz

Brookylyn rap trio Flatbush Zombies have released a new video for ‘My Team Supreme 2.0,’ their latest single from their ‘Day of the Dead’ online song series.

The tune itself, produced by Architect, features a creepy piano groove and a plodding beat. The clip, however, is upbeat as the group spit gritty rhymes in front of graffiti-sprayed walls, rooftops and other locations in New York City.

Tanboys leader Bodega Bamz also makes a cameo in the clip, which was directed by The Last American B-Boy.

‘My Team Supreme 2.0′ is a simple video that gives viewers a brief glimpse of the Big Apple.

The original song, ‘My Team, Supreme,’ is featured on the Flatbush Zombies’ ‘BetterOffDead’ mixtape.

A$AP Twelvyy Releases Solemn Track 'Xscape'

We’ve been waiting patiently for the new A$AP Mob album. Aside from A$AP Nast’s ’90-influenced banger ‘Trillmatic,’ it’s been rather quiet. On Tuesday (April 22), Mob member A$AP Twelvyy released a solemn track called ‘Xscape.’

Over sad guitars, the Harlem rhymer details what it’s like trying to survive on the mean streets of New York.

“Man, they killed that boy Trayvon / I got the right to carry firearms / Bill of rights, I know my s— / Bunch of books and some loaded clips / Tell the law to suck my d—,” he raps.

On the chorus, Twelvyy spits, “It’s mad stress around here / I got my bulletproof vest and my tech around here / I just want to get away, but I can’t get away.”

If you like the song, you can cop it at iTunes. No word on when A$AP Mob will release their compilation LP, ‘L.O.R.D.’

Future vs. Trey Songz — The Boombox Battle

Future Trey SongzThe Boombox

The Boombox Battle‘s first round featured Future‘s ‘Move That Dope’ and Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy,’ which ended in a close race. However, Future scored 55.44 percent of the votes — just enough to beat Iggy’s 44.56 percent.

Future enlists the help of Pharrell, Pusha T and Casino for ‘Move That Dope,’ which debuted in February. Whatever you feel about the substance, there’s no denying how catchy the track is. Each artist delivers witty rhymes and the posse cut serves as a great debate starter on who has the best verse. But Pharrell is the one that takes our vote on this one.

“Whippin’ the yam, whippin and flippin’ the yam / Turn the whole brick to a Lam / Re-rockin’ the dope, soon as it get off the boat / Keepin’ it soft like a mink / Gold on my link, coke in the sink,” Future spits.

Trey Songz is Future’s opponent for this week’s battle with his big hit ‘Na Na.’ While Future is celebrating getting high, Trey is busy getting action between the sheets. Produced by DJ Mustard, the track has been moving up the Billboard charts and has already been remixed with the help of Troy Ave.

“I’m feeling lucky tonight / When we leave this party you gon’ love me tonight,” he croons on the song, which will be featured on his sixth studio album, ‘Trigga.’

Will Future hold on to the win? Or will Trey Songz’s sensual ode push him ahead? Vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., April 29, at 10AM ET.

Reggaeton Mogul Boy Wonder Talks Persistence, Hustle, and Success

Even during hip-hop’s nascent days, the genre had its champions. They would — from sidelines and behind the scenes — make sure that it got the respect it deserved as a culture and the dollars it deserved as a business. It happened with Russell Simmons creating Def Jam Records, Puffy creating Bad Boy Records, and even the contentious Suge Knight creating Death Row Records. Throughout hip-hop’s history, there have been creative and business savvy executives who’ve helped guide the art form on its course. For the fast-growing genre reggaeton, it’s no different and that’s where Queens NY’s Boy Wonder comes in.

Boy Wonder, born Manuel Alejandro Ruiz, is known in the reggaeton circuit as the mastermind behind the successful ‘Chosen Few’ compilation series. An artist himself, he’s served as executive producer and producer of the notable compilations that have been steadily released since the first in 2004. The series is now on it’s sixth edition, ‘Boy Wonder Presents: Chosen Few Urbano Continues.’

In this interview he tells us his name came from “always daydreaming, always wondering” when he was younger. When asked what makes a legend he assuredly answers, “I do whatever it takes to make it happen.”

The producer also shares what inspired the platinum-selling compilation series. After college, an investment in an artist that didn’t fully come to fruition prompted the New Yorker to head to the Dominican Republic. There he was introduced to Latin urban music as we know it. From there he was energized to compile all artists and tracks that highlighted what made the genre so great.

He’s even veered from the ‘Chosen Few’ compilations. In 2005, he co-created the compilation, ‘El Draft,’ which served as a launching pad for popular reggaeton artists RKM y KenY, Jowell y Randy, and his own artist at the time, Fuego.

Get to know the persistent and driven producer/artist and what he thinks makes a legend.

Brooklyn MC Papoose chopped it up with VladTV about superstar Drake, saying his last album was "sweet," and he believes that several people agree with him, but are too afraid to say it publicly.

"A lot of people felt like that, that was the energy at the time about his album. I just spoke about it, everybody was saying it behind the scenes...but they scared to say it publicly. I'm not one of them dudes. That's not to say that he don't make some good records from time to time, but that particular album, I felt like it was sweet."

Method Man Calls Out Imposter for 'Catfish' Antics

Method ManFrederick M. Brown, Getty Images

After the movie-turned-MTV-reality-show ‘Catfish: The TV Show’ premiered in 2012, the computer savvy are more careful about who they talk to online. However, even those who don’t use certain social networks fall victim to the “catfish” trend. Method Man included.

Earlier today (April 22), the Wu-Tang Clan member took to Twitter to call out the person responsible for creating a fake Facebook profile to pose as him in an effort to meet women.

While it looks like the page has been removed, the person who created the Facebook profile has yet to be revealed.

This isn’t the first time an artist has been involved in a catfish scandal. MTV’s ‘Catfish: The TV Show’ detailed just what can happen when someone believes they’re dating a rapper. For some time, Keyonnah had an online relationship with a person she thought was Bow Wow. However, hosts Nev and Max proved that it wasn’t actually the rapper at all. Instead, it was a girl by the name of Dee Pimpin. Not only was Keyonnah furious but she also made it clear that she did not swing that way. A few weeks after the episode’s premiere, Bow Wow invited all parties to BET’s ’106 and Park’ to sort it out.

In other catfish news, one man posed as a woman to attempt to convince rapper Romeo as well as NBA players Paul George and Kenyon Martin to send him naked photos. Rap group World’s Fair have also admitted to being catfished while they were at SXSW.

Brian Williams Sharpens Rap Skills With Snoop Dogg's 'Gin and Juice' on 'The Tonight Show' [VIDEO]

Brian Williams is flexing his rap skills again. On last night’s episode (April 21) of ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,’ the ‘NBC Nightly News’ anchor did a rendition of Snoop Dogg‘s classic 1994 track ‘Gin and Juice.’

Thanks to Jimmy Fallon and his video editing crew, we find a number of Williams’ newscasts spliced together to cover the Snoop song. While Williams does most of the song solo, fellow anchor Lestor Holt makes a cameo as well as a couple of other foreign correspondents who add more energy to the cover.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the anchor rap on TV. He’s also done Sugar Hill Gang’s ‘Rapper’s Delight,’ Young MC’s ‘Bust A Move,’ Warren G’s ‘Regulate’ and another Snoop track, ‘Nuthin.’

Fallon has started with the ’80s and has now gone into the ’90s when it comes to these Brian Williams rap renditions. We’re curious to find out which current track he’ll get Williams to do next.

Jay Z's Stolen Master Recordings at Center of Extortion Plot

Jay ZOtto Greule Jr., Getty Images

A collection of Jay Z recordings, valued at $30 million, is at the center of an extortion plot after being stolen by a former studio intern over a decade ago.

According to Billboard, producer Chancey Mahan allegedly demanded that Hov pay him over $100,000 to get them back.

Mahan, who worked with Jay from 2008-2009, was in possession of the 1998-2002 recordings, which went missing in 2012.

The former employee told police that he reached out to Live Nation to tell them that the recordings — which included master tracks of Jay’s songs like ‘Holla’ and ‘I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)’ — were in storage and he planned to auction the recordings unless he received a $100,000 “storage fee.”

When Mahan went to the storage facility on Friday (April 18), he was arrested by LAPD and detained for questioning, but not arrested. Authorities then contacted Jay Z.

TMZ reportedly talked to Chauncey who denies that he tried to extort the Brooklyn-born rapper.

The producer told the gossip website that Hov “was a stupid kid smoking blunts” who was irresponsible with his creative works.

Chauncey said that he requested $100,000 as compensation for keeping the recordings safe for over a decade. He also added that the master recordings sounded terrible.

As of now, LAPD will hold on to the recordings until a judge decides who is the rightful owner.

New Music Releases — May 2014

IamSuHBK Gang

It’s just as they say: April showers bring new hip-hop releases in May. Or something like that.

After celebrating the 20th anniversary of Nas’ ‘Illmatic’ and finally seeing Future’s ‘Honest’ hit stores, there are plenty more albums to indulge in. One of the more notable efforts is IamSu!‘s ‘Sincerely Yours,’ which drops May 13.

The Heartbreak Gang’s leader is naturally next in line to continue the momentum YG’s ‘My Krazy Life’ gained for the West Coast scene when it dropped last month. IamSu! has yet to achieve solo mainstream success but he’s been featured heavily on hits like Sage the Gemini’s ‘Gas Pedal’ and LoveRance’s ‘Up!’ The fact that he’s a prominent figure in the Bay Area scene means you shouldn’t count him out.

Atmosphere will represent hip-hop’s underground sect when ‘Southsiders’ drops May 6. This will be the duo’s first effort since 2011′s ‘The Family Sign.’ Fellow rhymer Blu will debut ‘Good to B Home’ on May 20.

Rounding out the list of new releases is hip-hop’s rebellious veterans. The always busy Tech N9ne will drop ‘Strangeulation,’ which also features artists from his Strange Music label. Anti-establishment rapper-turned-movie star Ice Cube will follow-up that release with ‘Everythang’s Corrupt’ — his first album since 2010′s ‘I Am the West.’

Another possible release to keep an eye out for is Chris Brown‘s ‘X.’ The ‘Loyal’ singer announced that the project was finally seeing the light of day on May 5. However, the lack of promo and no word of a tracklist or cover art makes this date seem highly unlikely. This would be the latest of multiple delays for what’s supposed to be Brown’s last album. He obviously has more pressing matters at the moment.

Check out the all of the May release dates below.

May 5

Chris Brown, ‘X’

May 6

Tech N9ne, ‘Strangeulation’

Atmosphere, ‘Southsiders’

May 13
IamSu!, ‘Sincerely Yours’

Ice Cube, ‘Everythang’s Corrupt’

May 20
Blu, ‘Good to Be Home’’

Nas Teams Up With Microsoft, Google to Offer Tech Scholarships

NasLarry Busacca, Getty Images

Nas is empowering the youth through technology. The veteran rhyme-slinger is partnering with Microsoft, Google and others to give tech scholarships to African-Americans and Latino students.

According to Betabeat, Nas’ company, QueensBridge Venture Partners, is participating in the Opportunity Fund program, which provides financial aid for minority students who want to become programmers, engineers and developers in the tech world.

General Assembly (GA), a New York tech vocational school, created this initiative to bring diversity to technology.

“This is the start of what hopefully will be a contribution to what will be a more diverse and accessible community worldwide,” said GA CEO Jake Schwartz.

“One of the biggest concerns is that what we’ve seen is that the students who do the best are the ones with the most skin in the game,” he continues. “It’s very hard otherwise for students to succeed. It requires commitment and focus.”

Students who attend GA through the Opportunity Fund will also have to spend over 100 hours teaching coding to kids in underprivileged neighborhoods.

“Being able to sort of create a program where these scholarship students have to tutor, we kill two birds with one stone,” said Schwartz.

Now that’s illmatic.
