Nike Air Trainer SC Sneakerboot 'Camo'
The Nike Air Trainer SC is a model that’s good for turning a few heads when it drops. This time, the silhouette gets in on the same act as the Nike Air Trainer 3 we saw the other day by receiving the camouflage treatment.
The shoe is given a ballistic mesh upper, which is treated with a camouflage print that runs from ankle to toe. Brown suede and olive leather heighten the military feel and give the shoe an undeniably utilitarian vibe. This pair is actually a sneakerboot as well, which makes it apt to handle the current weather conditions in style. A beefed up outsole and rugged metallic lace loops will handle harsh conditions.
The Nike Air Trainer SC Sneakerboot ‘Camo’ is available now at select retailers including Oneness, which has them priced at $145. We’d suggest copping a pair as soon as possible because you never know when a Nor’easter will hit.

Nicki Minaj Freestyles With Shaq on 'Inside the NBA' [VIDEO]
Nicki Minaj has been one busy Barb since her third album, ‘The Pinkprint,’ dropped on Monday (Dec.15). She appeared on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ and ‘Today,’ to name a few.
Her Minajesty keeps the momentum going by stopping by TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA,’ where she and hosts Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson and Grant Hill took part in a hilarious cypher.
Kenny Smith kicked off the battle with comedic bars about his accomplishments and dough. Then he passed the torch off to Grant Hill, who cheated a bit by reciting his freestyle from a paper he had stashed away in his pocket.
Shaq, who is no stranger to the rap game, switched up the beat and channeled the ‘90’s with his throwback bars. The former rapper had fun with the rhymes and even proposed to Nicki — she declined. But it was all laughs until she shut ‘em down with a verse, spitting lyrics a cappella.
“The know Nicki gon’ kill ol’ girl / Plus they no G gon’ kill those deals / I give zero F’s/ I ain’t got no chill / And I ridin’ the bassline like ‘Quille O’Neal,” she raps.
They even got a reluctant Ernie Johnson to spit a few bars. Leave it to Nicki to bring out the MC in everyone.

Sneaker of The Week: Nike Air Stab – White / Emerald Green
Love at first sight best describes how we feel every time a new Nike Air Stab colorway pops up. Can you really blame us? The iconic runner has become a bit of an anomaly in the sneaker world, thanks to its spotty release schedule. We bumped into this pair recently and immediately fell hard for them, giving us no other choice than to make them our Sneaker of the Week.
The iconic pillars jutting across the air bubble are what give the runner its fun name — ‘Stab’ is short for “stability” — and they are fully in tact on this pair as well. When it comes to the colorway, this is a pretty standard one due to blocking, which finds white micro-suede and mesh toggled against bits of navy blue and emerald green.
The lightweight runner is set for a big return in 2015, as it looks to celebrate an anniversary of sorts. If you want to beat out the hypebeasts, hit up Sneaker Politics to grab a pair today.

Elle Varner Finds the Answer in 'Cold Case' Video
Love is picture perfect at the start of the relationship, but somewhere along the line, things chance — for better or for worse. Elle Varner highlights the latter in the new video for her song ‘Cold Case.’
The RCA songstress doesn’t appear in the visual, but instead she shows a couple who starts out blissful and ends up in distress.
“‘Cause you went and changed up on me much too fast / Talk about lightning speed, lightning speed / But it ain’t no unsolvable mystery / I gotta get down to it,” she sings.
The entire clip centers on black and white objects — even the couple is interracial. The director uses a slew of random images, like a bottle breaking and a page being torn from a book to symbolize a relationship gone bad.
But despite the artistic approach, the story line seems a bit complicated and leaves you scratching your head in confusion.
However, the song is solid, as Varner does a wonderful job of penning true-to-life-lyrics, while hitting beautiful, heartfelt notes at the same time.
Her new album ’4 Letter Word’ should be out in 2015. The project is a follow-up to her impressive first release, ‘Perfectly Imperfect.’

Fabolous Performs 'I Don't F— With Christmas' in Funny or Die Skit [VIDEO]
With Christmas being less than a week away, the holiday cheer seems to be at an all-time high, but not for Fabolous. The rapper hates Dec. 25 and he created a hilarious rap to let the world know just how he really feels in a new Funny or Die skit.
Over a head-nodding beat, complete with a choir and big drums, the Brooklyn rapper directs his anger towards Santa Clause in a song called ‘I Don’t F— With Christmas.’
“Tis the season to keep it real, and tell these motherf—ers how you feel / Put your f—in’ hands in the air / If you like me and hate this time of year,” he rhymes. “Let me catch Santa creeping through my mama house, eating cookies and milk and farting on the couch / I’m gonna kick his ass and tell him give me all the goods / How the f— you get in here? Ain’t no chimneys in the hood,” he spits.
What makes the skit even funnier is that Fab performs the song in a serious manner, despite the hilarious content. It’s amazing that he was able to deliver the lyrics and keep a straight face at the same time, especially with lines like this: “Hey, you old fat man in the sleigh, how the f— you make it ’round the world in a day?”
Watch Fab perform his diss-mas song above.

Budweiser x Alife Footwear Collection
Remember that time Jay Z essentially let Budweiser shoot a music video for ‘Show Me What Ya Got’ and used it as a commercial? Well, this latest Alife collaboration is about as subtle as that was, but if you happen to be a beer drinker, it’s something you do not want to miss out on.
Three pieces of footwear are emblazoned with the King of Beers’ logo and both a slip-on and five-eyelet lace-up are done as all-over print. A different lace-up model is given a red-tipped toe and dual branding. Cork foot-beds add to the allure, and probably ramp up the comfort as well, to make these all around winners.
While they’re available now, the collection feels more appropriate for the spring/summer — unless you live in California. At any rate, hit up A.R.C. to grab a pair and one of the accompanying totes or skateboards as well.

Soulja Boy Scores Plea Deal in Loaded Gun Case
Bobby Shmurda isn’t the only rapper dealing with gun charges this week. ‘Love and Hip Hop’ star Soulja Boy, who was arrested in January for carrying a loaded gun, made a deal with the L.A. County District Attorney.
Soulja entered a plea of no contest for the loaded weapon charge and in return, the D.A. dropped the possession charges, according to TMZ. The ‘Crank That’ rhymer was sentenced to 24 months probation and 170 hours of community service.
This was not Soulja’s first weapons-related arrest. Back in 2011, he was caught riding in a car with marijuana, guns and wads of cash.
However, it looks like all is good for now. “Everything Gucci,” the rhymer tweeted on Thursday (Dec. 18).

Air Jordan 5 White/Metallic Silver Remastered Retro to Arrive in 2015
Don’t get it twisted; Nike‘s remastered Air Jordan silhouettes are still a big deal. We’ve only seen them in pictures so far, but it’s pretty hard not to be floored at every glimpse. With that said, here’s a look at what we can expect from the Air Jordan 5 next year.
The white and metallic silver that dropped in 2000, is set to return and before you consider anything else, look at the quality of the leather used. It’s beyond buttery and the way the metallic silver bounces off of the upper is just magnificent. An ice blue outsole and 3M tongues punctuate this look perfectly, bringing things to a close.
These don’t drop until sometime next year, which means that you’ll have to distract yourself with the other releases that are on the horizon. It’s safe to say that the anticipation is absolutely killing us.

Rihanna Runs Into Sea of Fans in Paris [VIDEO]
Rihanna usually keeps secrets from her fans when it comes to the projects she’s dabbling in, but this time, she welcomed a few to join her in a secret adventure in Paris.
The beautiful Bajan singer was in the famous French city Thursday (Dec. 18), shooting an editorial with a large crowd of people. One of the attendees posted the moment on Vine, which shows RiRi sprinting towards a sea of supporters, who eventually embrace her.
The footage was shot directly in front of the Eiffel Tower. But what was the shoot for? Perhaps it was to promote her upcoming album, ‘R8,’ or her new deal as creative director for Puma.
Apparently the 26-year-old was excited to get close to her Navy, which she detailed on her Instagram page. “Ran off set of an editorial shoot, straight into the arms of my fans,” she wrote. “Thank you French Navy.”
The Roc Nation artist also posted a photograph, showing her sitting on the shoulders of her bodyguard, as she’s being carried through throngs of people. Fans are smiling, taking pictures and seemingly thrilled that they’re just inches away from one of the most popular singers on the planet.

10 Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2014
The first half of 2014 was a mixed, but mostly stale bag of music. However, Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’ and Wiz Khalifa’s ‘We Dem Boyz’ were surefire staples throughout the year as is evident in our initial Best Hip-Hop Songs of list. Thankfully, since then, more songs have dropped and things are picking up before heading into 2015.
Many of the hits were surprises and sleepers. Big Sean messed around and gave us a four-track EP with some of his best work, including a track that immediately stuck as soon as it hit Soundcloud. Out of his hometown came a diminutive newcomer with an ear for beats and a penchant for violence. Baking soda, one of the most slept-on food additives of all-time, is also having a moment.
Make no mistake, though. The highlights did come in the earlier months. See where rise of the booty and one day of the week falls in the 10 Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2014.

‘Tuesday’
ILOVEMAKONNEN Feat. Drake
Drake was on top this year without dropping an album as ‘0 to 100’ ran clubs and his small beef with Jay Z became the center of blog gossip. This might just be one of the important years of his career, too; 2014 is OVO Sound’s breakout year. PARTYNEXTDOOR has amassed a following and has been quoted on countless tweets. ILOVEMAKONNEN is more ubiquitous thanks to ‘Tuesday’ -- a joint that’s great in its novelty and execution. The song has even earned a Grammy nomination. Over a warbly, instantly recognizable riff (Metro Boomin and Sonny Digital with yet another success), MAKONNEN rises to make the rare club hit that’s both exciting and acutely aware of the journey to the bar. He’s genuinely sympathetic if you listen closely enough: “I've been workin' graveyard shifts every other weekend / Ain't got no f--- time to party on the weekend.” So tonight, on a Tuesday, we dance.
It’s very clear that capriciousness lies at the center of the minimal keys and constant bass heard on ‘Bitch U Guessed It.' That’s nothing new -- see Young Thug -- but there’s a precision with which OG Maco navigates his bipolar presence that truly makes this song stick. The raucous “I’m still with my n----“ comes within seconds before he slyly muses that he’s “Still in that place and I'm flexin’.” There’s a charisma that connects the two points; we’re rioting and flexin’ for no reason other than the fact that he’s OG Maco.

'About The Money'
T.I. Feat. Young Thug
On one hand, credit should go to London on da Track for crafting an elastic production that stretches from a woozy synth representation of the neon light district’s plush corners to the condensed space occupied by T.I. and Young Thug's taunts. There’s also the connection between Tip and Thugger, which isn’t just regional. They juxtapose each other: Thug’s tiptoeing from slick delivery to a cartoonish singsong that somewhat resembles a pop star (“I want them birds 'til’ next May / Never let 'em fly away”) and T.I.’s dose of reality (“Catcha witcha betcha heat will blow your brains bout that”). The Atlanta connection and Benjamin rule once again.
Sometimes you just know when you got one. Even though the lyrics to ‘CoCo’ come off like a drug dealer's all caps text demand, O.T. Genasis knew. “It’s a feeling,” he said in an interview with Complex. “You know it when you feel it. ‘Baking sawda, I got baking sawda.’ I felt that, you know what I’m saying. That’s why I said it.” In other words, there’s a legal high in ‘CoCo.’ It works in the same way you feel in the excitement of ‘Scarface’’s final scene instead of explaining to yourself that doing a shootout while incredibly high on cocaine isn’t a smart choice. It’s a thrill that makes grown-ass men like Busta Rhymes do head-first dives off stages.
“Rock that all white when I'm feelin' godly,” Dej Loaf says as she simultaneously describes DDS’ twinkling beat and the tonality of her Detroit twang. The religion ends there, though. The ethereal earworm quality only partially sheaths the fact that this is coming from a gritty, Detroit perspective. It’s clear Loaf doesn’t live in the clouds as she lets off violent quotables with a deadpan that can by described as Dipset-esque: “Put the burner to his tummy, and make it bubbly,” “Leave a bitch n---- head in pasta,” “Turn a bitch to some macaroni.” High carbs, murder and the come-up have rarely sounded this sweet.
5
‘Anaconda’
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj has been pretty sharp and direct when it came to her feminist agenda this year. This time she gets wacky with it. In a way, this is a continuation of Sir-Mix-A-Lot’s 'Baby Got Back.' But instead of the one-hit wonder standing on top of a giant ass, you get Minaj turning that hump into a ship, capsizing it and possibly killing Sir-Mix-A-Lot in the process, then piloting that ship into some Amazon utopia. While ‘Anaconda’ doesn’t reconcile Minaj’s hip-hop cred and pop ambitions like ‘Super Bass,’ it’s charm lies in how it trades in the austerity of either side for a playful riff of its ideology -- from its line of quotables (“D--- bigger than a tower, I ain't talking about Eiffel's”) to the outro’s playful riff (“F--- the skinny bitches”).
4
‘No Type’
Rae Sremmurd
Mike WiLL Made-It’s slight fall from being the game’s top producer has a lot to do with its characteristically short attention span. Some of it is on him, though. In his quest to switch up his style to maintain his uniqueness, he’s ended up sounding similar to other producers who’ve switched up their style to maintain uniqueness. His work and his ambition never quite met up, resulting in washed out instrumentals. ‘Buy the World’ should’ve been a hit. His union with club wunderkinds Rae Sremmurd somehow inspired him to return to the basics: trunk-rattling, but melodic bass combined with woozy, metallic synths. Mike WiLL has been so focused on establishing his legacy that he’d forgotten the carpe diem philosophy that put him in position to do so. Rae Sremmurd symbolizes it: “I’m just living life / And let my momma tell it n---- I ain't living right.” Here’s to more highs like these.
There’s this famous scene from ‘The Wire’ where Detectives Jimmy McNulty and Bunk Moreland are investigating a murder scene, and they manage to give paragraphs-worth of dialogue by simply using different intonations of ‘f---.’ Big Sean’s hook is like that sans the morbid nature. In “I don’t. F--- with. You,” he’s transferring sudden realization into middle finger-waving rage. In “Idon’tgiveaf---,“ it’s reactionary defiance. In “Don’t give a f--- about you or anything that you,” transfixes ‘Return of the Mack’ in one line. Sean has captured the audience on a wide level before -- multiple times, in fact -- but he’s never been able to hit so many readily available emotions with this level of concision. It turns out DJ Mustard’s five-keys-or-less productions are a good influence.
2
'Lifestyle’
Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan
If Young Thug didn’t reach critical mass before, he did when Birdman asked him to do a song with a simple, constantly tread topic: We made it. Even with the models, Ferraris and the yacht, it’s made abundantly clear that this gender-bending eccentric is of his own cosmos. This is not just done through Thug’s presence, but through an utterly nutty diction that seems to transcend the English language. Through him, the song works on two levels: A viral sensation even Tracy Ellis Ross is hip to and a victory lap given extra elation by Thugger’s extraterrestrial touch. You get the typical Birdman outro after Rich Homie Quan’s functional verse. Even with the song's wide-reaching charm, it’s clear Baby again gets the spoils.
The joy of ‘Hot N----‘ isn't the pocketed bliss of the ‘Nae Nae’ or ‘Stanky Leg’ -- we’ve lost a bit to get here. Some would make the case that Bobby Shmurda’s shimmy is a cause of desensitization. But he’s too specific for that. There’s a sense of vigor with which he hits those bullet points: he’s been selling crack since like the fifth grade, Meeshie and Breezy’s incarceration, Mitch’s potential murder charge. It all becomes moot in these three minutes; what connects the Shmoney Dance, and ‘Hot N---‘ by association, to its audience is its in-the-moment mode of catharsis. We all know losing a hat is annoying as hell. Here, it’s a minor inconvenience along with everything else.
Producer Larry Smith Dead at 63
The hip-hop world was hit with some very disheartening news this morning with the death producer Larry Smith, who passed away Thursday (Dec.18).
Combat Jack, host of ‘The Combat Jack Show,’ revealed the news of Smith’s passing on Twitter. “Just spoke to his family. RIP Larry Smith, the original King of Beats who passed away last night,” he wrote.
While official details on the cause of death are currently unavailable, at the time of his death, Smith was recovering from a stroke he suffered in 2007, leaving him partially paralyzed and unable to speak.
Born in 1951 in St. Albans, Queens, Smith attended Andrew Jackson High School while honing his musical talents in his spare time. Teaching himself how to play bass by listening to James Brown records, he would eventually perform with other musicians, hitting the road during the ’70s to tour with Jerry Washington, among others.
He found his way into producing hip-hop through a mutual connection to then-emerging rapper Kurtis Blow. Smith helped concoct Blow’s early classic, ‘Christmas Rapping.’ Taking off from there, he would partner with a young Russell Simmons and help mold Run-D.M.C. into musical icons, lending his talents to ‘Sucker MC’s, ‘Rock Box’ and a bevy of other timeless rap tunes.
Larry Smith is also one of the pioneers of mixing other genre’s with rap, with tock-tinged records such as ‘Rock Box’ helping rap cross over and reach other demographics. He is also credited as one of the first rap producers to utilize sounds and music from overseas, particularly the U.K., where Smith spent part of 1984, during the recording of Whodini’s ‘Escape’ album.
Eventually deciding to split ways with Russell Simmons for personal reasons, Smith signed a deal with Jive Records, doing work on projects such as the ’80s flick, ‘Rappin” before fading away from the industry by the early ’90s.
In his heyday, Smith was an original super producer and the architect of some of rap’s greatest early hits, setting the foundation of the genre’s sonic template and helping the sound of hip-hop evolve.
Several members of the hip-hop community have shared their reactions to his untimely passing. Check out what Q-Tip, Rev Run, Chuck D and more have to say about their peer.

Wale Goes Go-Go on 'Miracle on U Street'
Wale has a new mixtape on the way, ‘Festivus,’ and before the effort arrives, the rapper is offering a song that won’t appear on the project, ‘Miracle on U Street.’
The track is an obvious play on the classic holiday film ‘Miracle on 34th Street.’ The MMG rapper delivers precise, fiery lyrics over a fast-paced go-go beat.
“My percussion a loud level / Yeah, that of which a lot of n—-s cannot handle / Who got this year popping / Shawty the Kerry Washington for so long, they probably cried ‘Scandal’ / St. Laurent that’s just to make it rhyme, yeah / Richie Paul my No. 8 LeBron / All this Balmain I have yet to wear / F— your whole label these songs may be a label whore,” he raps over busy drums and live instrumentation.
Based on the title of the song, it appears the Washington, D.C. rapper just wanted to bless the streets with something for Christmas.
As far as upcoming shows, Wale will be at the Fillmore, in Silver Spring, Md., on Jan. 1, 2015, then he’ll head to Philadelphia on Jan. 9, followed by Irving Plaza in New York City on Jan. 10.

Miguel Debuts New Songs 'NWA,' 'Hollywood Dreams' and 'Coffee'
It’s been two years since Miguel released his Grammy-nominated album, ‘Kaleidoscope Dream,’ but he’s been keeping himself busy in the studio. On Friday (Dec. 19), the R&B loverboy surprised fans by releasing three new songs.
The talented crooner is presenting his next batch of electric soul music the same way he did early in his career when he released three ‘Art Dealer’ EPs before his full-length album. The trio of new tunes are ‘NWA’ featuring Kurupt, ‘Hollywood Dreams’ and ‘Coffee.’
The artwork accompanying the songs on his Soundcloud page finds Miguel’s fingers, tattooed with the word “Wild,” resting inside a woman’s mouth. Talk about sexy.
The standout track on the EP is ‘NWA,’ which gives a hat tip to legendary Compton rap group N.W.A with its acronym. Miguel sings of a woman who has an appetite for bad boys.
“She just want to have fun, she just want a wild n—- / Wild now / She just wants to f— crazy, she just wants to f— ’til she can’t move no more / She don’t want to fall for me, she don’t want to fall for me / But it’s too late,” he sings over twangy guitars and conga slaps.
There’s no word if an album is coming soon, but it’s clear that the ‘Adorn’ singer is planning to bring more of his sexy ballads to the R&B game next year.
Currently, Miguel appears as a featured guest on a number of songs by other artists including Ludacris’ ‘Good Lovin’,’ Lorde’s ‘This is Not Game’ and Jessie Ware’s ‘Kind of Sometimes Maybe.’

Nike Air Max 93 'Cool Grey'
It may not be a landmark year for the Nike Air Max 93 but that doesn’t meant it can’t get a little bit of extra love. That added adoration comes in the form of a multi-textured new model that employs one of Nike’s most beloved shades: cool grey.
The upper of this sneaker mixes a slew of materials — nubuck, two types of mesh and two kinds of textured leather — for effect and the result is far more subtle than you’d imagine. Cool grey falls into the mix by way of the neoprene sockliner for just the right amount of contrast, giving this colorway a very chill feel.
The runner is available now at select retailers including Sneaker Politics for $125 a pair. Consider these Nike Air Max 93′s the perfect gift for any sneaker lover.
