J. Cole Announces '2014 Forest Hills Drive' Tour
Today is a great day for J. Cole fans. The North Carolina-raised rapper just announced the “Forest Hills Drive” tour, which will kick off next month.
The performance trek will begin in Eugene, Ore., and hit other cities like Boise, Idaho; Salt Lake City, Utah; Santa Ana, Calif. and Tucson, Ariz., just to name a few.
The Roc Nation artist is touring in support of his critically-acclaimed 2014 Forest Hills Drive album, which he released at the close of last year. The album opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving the 30-year-old his third No. 1 album of his career.
Songs from the project including “Apparently” and “Fire Squad” will likely be performed in addition to those from Born Sinner and Cole World: The Sideline Story.
In an interview with Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Frannie Kelley on NPR‘s Microphone Check, Cole said 2014 Forest Hills Drive was supposed to be a double album, but he later changed his mind.
“People don’t understand the decisions that go into making the album,” he said. “Like, the scenes I had to cut to make this album. At one point this was a double album, and making those cuts was soooo hard. And certain decisions like that are so hard to do.”
Opening acts on the upcoming tour, beginning March 2, will be Cozz, Bas and Omen, all Cole’s artists on his Dreamville label. The tour will run through March and continue until first the week of April.
Cole will close out the tour on April 7.

Songs of the Week: Kendrick Lamar, Madonna and GZA
February is off to great start as far as the music world is concerned. The Grammys came and went, Iggy Azalea didn’t win the Best Rap Album award and Katie Perry brought out Missy Elliott and danced with sharks during the Super Bowl half-time show. But more importantly, we have a fresh batch of tunes for your listening pleasure with our latest edition of Songs of the Week.

"Iconic"
Madonna Feat. Chance the Rapper & Mike Tyson
The original naughty girl, Madonna, has captivated the music world for three decades and continues to evolve her artistry. This week, she released her new single, "Iconic," which will live on her upcoming "Rebel Heart" album, set to release March 10. Following a short intro courtesy of Iron Mike Tyson, Madonna holds court over the futuristic production with her lush vocals, creating a motivational number worthy of a few spins. A long-time supporter of rap, she decided to enlist Chicago trippy-kid Chance The Rapper to lay a verse on the track, who makes the most of his opportunity, dropping a stand-out eight bars that will surely be getting him even more love in the pop world. Score one for Madonna and company.

"The Mexican"
GZA Feat. Tom Morello
The surprise entry this week comes via the new GZA cut, "The Mexican." Getting assistance on the production tip from Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello on the production tip, the Genius crafts the beat and handles the verses without breaking a sweat. Morello's show-stealing guitar riffs and the GZA's top tier mic-skills make for a perfect marriage, resulting in "The Mexican" being the epitome of audio dope. Be on the lookout for The GZA's upcoming LP, "Dark Matter,' which is sure to deliver more greatness such as that displayed on this number.
3
"The Blacker the Berry"
Kendrick Lamar
The biggest musical splash of the week came in the form of Kendrick Lamar's latest release, titled "The Blacker The Berry." Featuring production by Boi1da, with additional boardwork by Terrace Martin, "The Blacker The Berry" is the first official release from Kendrick's ominous sophomore effort, which seems to be right around the corner and could be announced any given day.
A barrage of high-octane bars, "The Blacker The Berry" see Lamar spitting lyrics of fury without any regards for feelings or an ounce of remorse. The release was met with praise as well as critique, getting the conversation going about race and politics, as well as being compared with transcendent works by the likes of Tupac Shakur.
With all of that said, "The Blacker The Berry" has officially set the tone for Kendrick's return and if the LP is anything like what we've heard thus far, it's a safe bet that K Dot's impending album will be another classic in the making
25 Facts You Probably Didn't Know About August Alsina
Let August Alsina tell it and he believes most people — aside from his adoring legion of fans — are giving him a bad wrap. He’s not the arrogant, conceited, self-indulgent guy that outsiders believe him to be. Quite the contrary, actually. He may not have a filter (we’re not talking the Instagram kind), but the 22-year-old R&B singer with the New Orleans accent is transparent. And there’s nothing better than that within the music industry — which is known to be, pretty much, all smoke and mirrors.
The crooner’s honest and adamant about who he is and how he’s being portrayed. We all saw the clip of the Testimony creator on 106 & Park and his heated response to host Keshia Chante after she asked about a possible reconciliation with Trey Songz. Alsina’s definitely not one to be played with, but even with all of his honesty, there’s still more to learn (and love) about the crooner. Check out 25 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About August Alsina.
1
When August turned 21, he hit Vegas like most 20-year-olds. Then he ended up just going to sleep in his room on his birthday.
2
He "stole" his first girlfriend from another guy at their high school. August says that he and the young lady were in the same class and his persistence eventually paid off.
3
The first album the singer bought with his own money was by Ohio crooner Lyfe Jennings, which is pretty interesting because he and Jennings have a similar style. They both are known for implementing "the struggle" within their lyrics.
4
August says that if he regrets anything in life, it's having sex with certain women -- that's his biggest fault.
5
The ladies love August. Although he may not know exactly how to refer to them, the crooner admits to having sex with some women without getting their names.
6
August kicked off his career via YouTube, but the day he found people posting videos of themselves singing, it was new to him -- he really just wanted to watch a fight online.
7
He wanted to sign with Young Money long before Def Jam came calling. The singer says that Birdman is "like an uncle" to him. "I felt like it was the place for me to be. It’s home. These people, I know these type of n----s. I grew up around these type of n----s..."
8
As of September 2014, August has only had one girlfriend that he’s claimed. "The rest were just side pieces."
9
Women "going crazy" over him never gets tiring. However, it does take up a lot of his energy. "It gets exhausting, but nah, not tiring because I’m here for them to love me. I want them to love me."
10
The "No Love" singer has admitted that he prefers not to kiss the girls he's not seriously involved with. "Kissing is way more intimate than having sex..." He's also revealed that he isn't into pleasuring a woman beyond a certain point.
11
August thinks most of the women who attend his shows are "badder" than those he works alongside in the industry. He told DJ Scream in Atlanta that, specifically, he wouldn't deal with either Rihanna or any one of the Kardashians.
12
The-Dream cosigned August up at the Def Jam building when he was an A&R -- a move that landed the young singer his deal.
13
The "Make It Home" crooner says that his hometown of New Orleans is his favorite place to perform and that it was the first city where he jumped into the crowd. Birmingham is an honorable mention because "the girls are all ‘ready.'"
14
One night, August was dozing off in his hotel room and a young lady that he’d seen earlier had found a way to get back into the room. He believes she stole the key, among other unspecified things.
15
After hanging out with Jay Z and Beyonce, August hopes to find a girlfriend and develop a relationship like the power couple. "What Jay-Z got? You don’t find that everyday," he says. Maybe he's discovered that in actress Keke Palmer, who he's rumored to be dating currently.
16
He quit high school in his senior year because he was going through some personal hardships. That was just before he was homeless and sleeping on the floor of his local corner store, where the owners would sometimes feed him gumbo.
17
Still, even while homeless, the crooner always made sure he had enough money in his pocket to go and buy a clean T-shirt.
18
When asked who his least favorite person is in the industry, August told Sway’s Universe, "I don’t like anyone on Twitter. Too many fake ass celebrities." Well, than that just about means everyone.
19
If August had to give up one thing for Lent, it would be weed: "I could do without it but... Why?"
20
The movie 'Sister Act 2' inspired August to start singing. No one else in his family is gifted musically. The "Downtown" creator says that Lauryn Hill’s singing inspired him, although he swears he wasn’t good at all when he started out.
21
He believes that he’s the most interesting person he’s met. "You can't really meet yourself but I would say me. I still don’t even know myself like that. You learn as you go. So it’s real interesting to find out who you really are."
22
The entertainer once showed a picture of his manhood "print" to Angela Yee, Gigi Maguire and Stephanie Santiago on Yee’s "Lip Service" radio show. The ladies agreed that it’s sizable. August blushed.
23
August’s favorite thing to do on a day off from running from city-to-city and performing is to stay home and hit the sack.
24
Singing negro spirituals on the spot is what he would do for people before he "made it."
25
The Def Jam signee has a self-described complex about sneakers. He plans to start buying two pairs at a time -- one to "dog out" and another as backup.
Lil Wayne Possibly Dropping "Free Weezy" Album Tonight (@LilTunechi)
Lil Wayne's frustrations with former mentor Birdman and Cash Money not releasing "Tha Carter V" prompted the New Orleans spitter to drop "Sorry 4 the Wait 2" as an apology to his loyal fans.
Nike LeBron 12 Wheat
We may be paranoid but does anyone else get the feeling that LeBron James wants you to only wear his sneakers at all times — no matter what the weather forecast is? Case in point is the fresh new Nike LeBron 12 colorway that is clearly meant to replace those 6″ Timberland Wheats you’ve been rocking.
The sneaker is given a makeover that finds its full upper dipped in wheat with golden accents, providing a bit of a regal feel. However, the gum outsole gets the transparent treatment, which finds those colorful pods peeking through for an added pop of color.
No word on when they’ll be on shelves, but the good news is that you don’t have to search far and wide for them. Download the Nike SNKRS App for up-to-the-minute information.

Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill Joint Tour Rumors Heat Up
Jay Z and Beyonce aren’t the only hip-hop couple who can put together a tour. Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill are headed down the same road.
According to TMZ, the two rappers, who are rumored to be dating, are performing together in Nicki’s hometown of New York City at the Copacabana club on Saturday (Feb. 13) for NBA All-Star Weekend. They’ll also head to Charlotte, N.C., later this month to do another gig, where they’ll likely perform their collaboration “Buy A Heart,” off her The Pinkprint album.
There’s even talk of a world tour for the pair, with the Young Money rapper serving as the headliner. News is that Queen Barbz will make twice as much Meek during the performance trek, which makes total sense based on the number of albums she’s sold so far — he only has one LP out compared to her three.
The tour rumors come on the heels of new Instagram photos that show both lyricists being affectionate towards each other. One images shows them at a video shoot getting cozy while another finds the Philly native holding his lady close.
So far, they’ve never admitted they’re dating — Minaj said they’re just friends. Accoridng to her, it’s weird that people are talking about them so much because they’ve been friendly for several years.
“Sometimes we hang out, and when we hang out, we have fun,” she said in an interview with Vogue . This is what I want to say about him: People think for some strange reason that we just started becoming friends recently. We’ve been friends for a very, very long time, and he’s been around for a lot of things that I’ve gone through. And that’s all I’ll say about that.”

Missy Elliott Dance Tribute Created by 'Work It' Star Alyson Stoner Is Awesome [VIDEO]
Missy Elliott’s unexpected Super Bowl XLIX comeback not only ignited new interest in her return to hip-hop but also inspired those who have had the opportunity to collaborate with the “Work It” rhymer in the past.
Alyson Stoner, the little girl who showcased her breakdancing movies in Missy’s 2002 “Work It” video, decided to thank the rapper for the chance to shine with a special tribute.
The three-minute tribute begins with children busting out the Harlem shake and b-boy moves to “Work It.” The music switches up and goes into Missy’s “Gossip Folks” (Stoner also starred in that visual when it debuted) and that’s when Stoner enters the picture. Even though it’s been over 10 years since her hip-hop heyday, she’s still got it.
At the end of the clip, Stoner gives her mentor a shout out. “I dedicated this video to Missy Elliott herself. Missy, thank you so much for the opportunity to dance for you,” she said. “Thank everyone for making this possible, we love you Missy!”

Sneaker of the Week: Adidas Originals Yeezy 750 Boost
To say that Yeezy season is approaching would be a vast understatement as it is clearly here. Between crashing Beck’s Grammy speech and collaborating with Sir Paul McCartney on a few tunes, he also found time to launch a server crashing Adidas collaboration. The main event of the collection is the Adidas Yeezy 750 Boost and it is also our Sneaker of the Week.
The sought-after sneaker was finally unveiled and internet chatter is pretty polarizing regarding its design. Boost technology hits the outsole and its grey suede upper gets the standard midfoot strap along with a zipped-up side for easy entry.
The shoe is set for a release of 9,000 pairs on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14) and will be followed by a worldwide release on Feb. 28. The Adidas Originals Yeezy 750 Boost will retail for $350 a pair. If you want to cop them, your best bet is to download the Adidas Confirmed App and hope that supplies aren’t as limited for the second run.

The Weeknd Performs 'Earned It' on 'Tonight Show' [VIDEO]
Everybody has the “Fifty Shades of Grey ” movie on their mind since it premiered last night in theaters.
The film’s soundtrack is also getting a lot of buzz due to The Weeknd’s song “Earned It,” which he performed yesterday on “The Tonight Show.”
Rocking some black jeans, a black and white jacket, and the new Yeezy Boosts, the Canadian crooner sang in varying octaves, switching back and forth from falsetto to mid-range quite seamlessly.
He didn’t move around a lot, he just used his powerful voice to draw in the studio audience, singing every word clearly and hitting each note precisely. It was truly a solid performance.
A piano player started things off before the band kicked in, and once The Weeknd hit those hard-to-hit notes, you could almost feel the song’s impact through the television screen.
The song itself is about a man telling a woman that she’s earned his devotion, and the 25-year-old does a splendid job of conveying the heart felt words through his performance.
It was also good to hear him sing the song in front of a live audience without any studio effects. It only proves how much vocal range he has and how talented he is.
The OVO affiliated artist will be playing tonight (Feb 13) in Las Vegas at the Drais Rooftop Nightclub, according to SongKick.com. Then he’ll be playing Coachella in Indio, Calif. from April 17-19.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” soundtrack is in stores now and you can also purchase it on iTunes.
Drake and Tyga's Feud Sparks Hilarious Reactions From Fans
After Tyga took a few lyrical jabs at Drake on the song “Make It Work” last year, the rappers are reigniting their feud following the release of Drizzy’s new project, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late .
At issue is Drake’s verse about Tyga on a new track called ‘6PM in New York.’ On the song, the Toronto native takes a swipe at T-Raw and his rumored boo, Kylie Jenner.
“I heard a lil homie talking reckless in VIBE / Quite a platform you chose, you shoulda kept it inside / Oh you tried, it’s so childish calling my name on the world stage / You need to act your age and not your girl’s age,” he raps.
An hour after Drizzy released his new mixtape, Tyga went on his Twitter account to make it clear that he’s not tolerating any disrespect from him and purportedly wrote a threatening tweet to Drizzy. “U still a bitch,” he tweeted. “All that sneak dissing is weak.” The tweet has since been deleted so we’re not sure if Tyga actually wrote it or this is a silly internet prank. However, it isn’t too far-fetched considering their feud last year.
As far as reactions, the consensus is that their beef is lame and their soft (read them below). Some have mockingly called the pair’s tiff the “light-skin wars,” while others want Tyga and Drake to duke it out in the boxing ring once and for all.
What do you think of Tyga and Drake’s feud? Should they settle their differences in the boxing ring? Tell us in the comments below.
