Rihanna Delivers New Song 'Towards the Sun' From 'Home' Soundtrack
Rihanna releases a new song that’s a big departure from her folksy tune “FourFiveSeconds.” The R&B singer, who has been working with Kanye West on her R8 album, dropped a bombastic song called “Towards the Sun,” which is from the soundtrack of the upcoming DreamWorks animated flick, Home.
The movie features RiRi voicing the character of Tip, a sassy little girl who befriends an eccentric alien named Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons). Home is based on the popular children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex.
The song itself features a marching beat, a children’s choir and haunting sounds as a brokenhearted Rihanna sings about pursuing a new love and not letting fear get in the way.
“And you know I’ve been burned / I’ve been burned / You see me lose control / It’s not worth my soul,” she sings.
The highlight of the song is the infectious chorus, which goes, “Turn your face towards the sun / Let the shadows fall behind you / Don’t be afraid, just carry on / And the shadows will never find you.”
Rihanna is still working hard on her eighth album, R8, which is expected to hit stores this spring. In the meantime, Rihanna’s animated film, Home, will arrive in theaters on March 27.

If you’re one of those people who can’t seem to put down your cell phone, be on the lookout because Raury is coming for you.
The Atlanta native, who’s making a name for himself as a stellar singer, songwriter and rapper, debuts a visual PSA centered on America’s obsession with technology. Playing in the background is his song “Seven Suns,” off his Indigo Child Project EP, released in 2014.
The clip starts out with the Columbia Records signee standing with a gang of accomplices right before they go on a mission to snatch cell phones from unsuspecting owners’ hands. The whole idea behind the caper is to stop people from being dependent of their phones and have them communicate with each other in the traditional way — you know, actually talking face to face.
From there, Raury and his team run around town and grab the devices, using sheer force and a few weapons. The eclectic artist even carries a sword throughout the video.
As far as the actual song, it’s a unique blend of rock, hip-hop and pop, which works wonderfully. Directors Carlon Ramong and John Merizalde do a stellar job of making the scenes cinematic, which grabs your attention from beginning to end.
The Indigo Child Project is currently available via iTunes and Spotify. In addition, you can catch the crooner in concert on Feb. 24 at the University of Georgia, Athens. Then he’ll perform in New Orleans on March 13 and 14. After that he’ll head to Austin, Texas for SXSW from March 17 to 20 and rock two more shows in Dallas (March 21) and Washington D.C. (April 3).

Big Sean‘s fourth album, Dark Sky Paradise, debuts today and so far, he’s released some pretty strong singles with “One Man Can Change the World” and “Win Some, Lose Some.”
Now the rapper drops the visuals for “Skyscrapers,” a cinematic-sounding track on which the Detroit MC recounts his early days and his journey to the top.
Directors Dylan Knight and Andrew Hines create a dark and sullen world for the G.O.O.D. Music rhymer as he delivers his lyrics. Gone are the dancing women and the big gold chains. Instead, Sean rhymes in an elevator, moving from the basement to the roof.
“Imagine stuck in the D and you trying to find a way out / And yeah, your music been bumping and you just waiting to break out / And I’ve been waiting all God d—- year, all year, I can tell that it’s near, but near ain’t here / Man, them bills is here right now, I guess you shine brightest when the lights down, like now,” he spits.
“Skyscrapers” is just one of the cuts that showcases Sean’s progress from 2011′s Finally Famous. The 26-year-old rapper has been through his fair shares of ups and downs — a failed engagement being on of them — and those experiences are reflected in his writing.

Opening with the recognizable refrain from Kanye West‘s “Bound 2,” “I know you’re tired of lovin’, of lovin’ / With nobody to love, nobody, nobody,” Charlie Wilson was officially in the building at the BET Honors Monday night (Feb. 23), taking the stage to perform in front of the night’s honorees including Usher.
He provided his tried and true brand of soul, but first paid respect to West, who all but helped revive his career by collaborating with him on “Bound 2″ and reintroduced the legend to the younger generation. “I love you, Kanye, you’re the best,” Uncle Charlie said with an air of genuine appreciation in his voice. “Thanks for putting me on.”
Dressed in a velvet tuxedo with a matching pocket square, white shirt, black tie and shades, the crooner looked exactly like the old school player he is. He performed in front of a montage of fireworks during the first song of his set, then prepared to leave the stage but did an unexpected encore of the Gap Band classic, “Yearning For Your Love.”
Wilson stepped off the stage and walked to the front row to give West a big hug before getting the rapper to come to the stage and kick a quick impromptu freestyle. Yeezy dropped a few dope rhymes off the top of the dome. He hilariously ended his appearance by rapping, “Got me going crazy though and they ain’t even pay me though,” before going back to his seat and giving wife Kim Kardashian a hug.
Uncle Charlie’s indelible performance was definitely an honor to witness. West, who received the Visionary Award at the ceremony, delivered a moving acceptance speech centered on personal expression and the damaging effects of racism.

For 30 years, Ronnie DeVoe has been making the ladies swoon as a member of New Edition. Now the R&B singer hopes to swoon people into buying homes through his growing real estate business.
DeVoe, whose been a licensed realtor since 2002, is giving real estate another try with his DeVoe Real Estate company in Georgia. The 47-year-old Bell Biv DeVoe singer told TMZ that once he’s finished touring with New Edition, he plans to expand his business and open up a branch in Los Angeles.
This is good news to hear from a veteran singer who’s been in the R&B game since the late ‘80s. We often hear stories of singers squandering their money and going broke. Thankfully, this is not the case for DeVoe as he’s smart enough to invest in the future.
Since DeVoe wants to be a realtor in L.A., maybe he can help Jay Z and Beyonce find their dream home in La La Land. The power couple are currently renting out a 16,000 square-foot mansion for $150,000 a month. Maybe DeVoe can also write a song for Queen Bey. Hey, it could happen.
