Tupac Biopic Will Feature His Original Music, Begin Filming This Summer

Tupac ShakurFrank Micelotta, Hulton Archive

When a biopic about your favorite musician is released without their music featured, it’s an odd sight to see and hear. Sometimes it works (‘Jimi: All Is By My Side’ featuring Andre 3000) and other times, it fails miserably (Lifetime’s ‘Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B’).

The upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic won’t have to put up with that obstacle. Randall Emmett, one of the producers, tells Collider that the legendary artist’s original music will be used in the film.

“Morgan Creek [film studio] bought the rights to the music, and we share 50 percent of the rights with Morgan Creek,” Emmett says. “So Morgan Creek acquired all the music rights from the estate when they partnered with Tupac’s mother, who has executive control of the estate.”

Emmett also revealed that the biopic, which is currently untitled, will start filming in June. John Singleton, best known for directing the 1991 classic ‘Boyz N The Hood,’ is still signed on to produce and direct the project. Shakur’s mother, Alfeni, will serve as executive producer.

Christina Milian Opens Up About Lil Wayne: 'It's a Relationship to Be Protected'

Kevin Winter, Getty Images

Is Christina Milian turning up with Lil Wayne? The singer has reportedly been dating the rapper — on and off — for months. However, when asked about the romance, Milian remains coy, dubbing their relationship as “cool” and one that needs to be “protected.”

During a chat with Singersroom.com, Milian opened up about her link to Weezy, which seems to consist of a little more than just work. “I really respect him and enjoy working with him,” she says. “We’ve definitely grown closer in the last few months. I feel very fortunate to be working with him, and I admire him as a musician and what he’s done with his business. Being his artist, I feel fortunate that he believes in me. People definitely see us around a lot together [laughs], but we have a very cool relationship.”

The songstress, who is signed to Wayne’s Young Money collective and will be featured in the new reality show ‘Christina Milian Turned Up,’ adds that she’s keeping things private. “I think it’s a relationship to be protected because the world has something to say about everything. If it’s something worth anything, I think it’s best to enjoy and live for yourself. So yeah, that’s probably the best answer I can give you [laughs].”

The cryptic answer could mean anything and Milian admits that she does have good chemistry with Weezy. As for how their 2014 American Music Awards performance of ‘Start a Fire’ ended with a kiss, she reveals, “We didn’t even have any rehearsal time, it was all about chemistry. Moving forward now for the two of us, we already know what it’s like now to do that together. When we stepped off the stage, we were like two little kids acting like we never performed in our entire life, we were kissing on each other and all excited.”

Reebok Furylite 'Dark Sage'

Afew

Reebok has a pretty strong track record when it comes to pumping out iconic runners, which is most readily seen in the Reebok Pump Fury. In fact, they’re so iconic that the aggressive runner was used as interoffice inspiration for the all-new Reebok Furylite.

It would be blasphemy to say that the Reebok Furylite improves on its predecessor — it’s ultimately an entirely different shoe. The most noticeable change is the three-eyelet faceplate replacing the midfoot cage and lack of Pump technology. The lightweight runner is also given a wide-mouth mesh toebox and a slimmer midsole for further streamlining.

The sneaker is making its maiden voyage in dark sage and is available now at select retailers, including Afew. They will hopefully find their way to U.S. shelves soon.

Mila J Is Ready to Get in the Ring in 'Champion' Video Featuring B.o.B.

Mila J has taken us to the club, the beach and now in her new video for ‘Champion,’ she’s headed to the boxing ring.

Suited up in boxing trunks, gloves and a lush red fur coat, the singer is ready to knock someone out. But that doesn’t mean that she’s lost her sex appeal; Mila dons a sports bra, panties and showcases expert dance moves. Even when she’s dressed in a men’s suit, her femininity and sultriness are front and center.

B.o.B. contrasts Mila’s soft vocals with his aggressive delivery, which adds another dynamic to the visual. But don’t worry, he doesn’t steal her spotlight. She beats it up like Rocky as she sings on the hook.

‘Champion’ is off her 2014 EP, ‘M.I.L.A.’ The Los Angeles native is still working on her debut album and plans to drop it via Motown Records later this year.

Ciara Goes for Long Hair, Don't Care Look on L'Uomo Vogue Cover

CiaraL’Uomo Vogue

After spending much of 2014 in the headlines thanks to her fallen relationship with Future, Ciara kicks off 2015 by turning heads. The 29-year-old graces the cover of L’Uomo Vogue.

The singer’s body is on point, but for this look, she decides to cover up. Ciara is domineering in the black-and-white photo, staring at the reader in a Gucci trench coat that gives a peak at a leather bralet. She doesn’t fall off at all in the photos inside of the issue either by donning a slick pantsuit and silky bedroom attire.

She isn’t just modeling, of course. The ‘Anytime’ creator talks about her upcoming sixth album and working with the likes of producers Polow Da Don, Diane Warren and Dr. Luke.

“It will be an authentic album, real,” Ciara says. “I talk openly and honestly about my emotions as a woman, mother, about my ambitions, but also my vulnerability, my happy moments and my sad moments.”

The album has been in the works for a while, but there isn’t a set release date yet.

Flavor Flav Indicted on Driving Charges

Flavor FlavEthan Miller, Getty Images

Flavor Flav is slated to appear in court later this month after being indicted for charges related to his arrest while speeding — on the way to his mother’s funeral — last year.

As we previously reported, the Public Enemy hype man-turned-reality star was arrested on Jan. 9, 2014 in Long Island, N.Y. for speeding (he was reportedly going 79 mph in a 55 mph zone).

Police found him to be driving with a suspended license and when they stopped him, marijuana was in the car. Flav was arrested for felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and was later released without bail. The entertainer was allowed to attend his mother’s funeral.

A spokesman for the District Attorney tells Billboard that the legendary hip-hop personality (real name William Drayton) has a Jan. 21 court appearance scheduled. His attorney is seeking to reach a plea agreement in the matter and did not comment on the story.

This is not Flav’s only legal issue. Last year, he plead guilty to battery against his fiancée’s son and previously landed in hot water for possessing illegal fireworks.

Album Cover of the Year – 2015 The BoomBox Fan Choice Awards

Astrid Stawiarz / David Livingston/ Neilson Barnard / Bryan Bedder, Getty Images

The album cover art is just as important as the music when it comes to attracting listeners. Some of your favorite artists took advantage of creating unique artwork to go along with their music in 2014. Now you can decide who should be crowned the winner of Album Cover of the Year in the 2nd annual Boombox Fan Choice Awards.

The Roots went the abstract route with their cover art for ‘…And Then You Shoot Your Cousin.’ Hip-dop duo PRhyme — DJ Premier and Royce da 5’9″ — followed suit for their self-titled debut album, with a creative image of their faces cracking. Finally, FKA twigs presented herself as an intriguing doll with captivating eyes.

Other artists decided to have colorful illustrations for their covers. The most notable is Run the Jewels. The two mummy-like hands depicting the jacking of a gold rope is a favorite. R&B crooner Luke James went for a bold pictorial for his album cover.

Meanwhile, majestic cover art was used on Jhene Aiko’s ‘Souled Out’ as we see the songbird being lifted into the sun in between the clouds. The Wu-Tang Clan has an almost similar theme with their cover for ‘A Better Tomorrow.’

Finally, a few rappers delivered gritty artwork to go along with their music. For his album ‘Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf,’ Game held a contest for fans to submit their best designs for the cover art. In the end, the Compton rapper chose a design of his daughter showing no fear of the “Big Bad Wolf” — the MC feels that’s how the world sees him.

Fellow rapper YG went with a mugshot of himself for his album cover of ‘My Krazy Life.’ If you look closely, the placard includes the date (03192009) on which his life changed. In 2009, he was signed to Def Jam and four years later, he’s one of the top rhymers in the game.

Finally, Ab-Soul probably released one of the most controversial covers in 2014. For his third LP, ‘These Days…,’ the TDE rhymer decided to go with a religious theme. He’s depicted as Jesus Christ sitting by the cross, complete with a barbed-wired crown and crucified hands. The religious imagery may be considered blasphemy but Ab-Soul likes to go deep with his music.

adidas Originals Forum Mid RS 'Reptile' Pack

Titolo

Movements in fashion come and go, but snakeskin has been “in” for so long that it’s well beyond a trend. It’s harder than ever to front on the fabric as it pops up on one of our favorite adidas models of all-time: the Forum Mid.

Full disclosure, we were on board upon seeing the make and model and for the ‘Reptile’ Pack, the adidas Originals Forum Mid is given two snakeskin-clad colorways. The pair is served in either black or cream with ballistic mesh on the toe, tongue and ankle to reinforce the established tonality. However, the midsole looks to shake things up a bit by mixing in some contrast thanks to its use of white.

These are without a doubt the kind of shoes you’ll want to have on deck as winter turns to spring and hopefully they’ll be here in the U.S. soon. In the meantime, pick up a pair from Titolo if you can’t wait.

Hip-Hop Video of the Year – 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards

Daniel Boczarski / Jason Merritt (2) / Frazer Harrison, Getty Images

Hip-hop music videos were a feast for the eyes in 2014. One of the most eye-grabbing and record-breaking was Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Anaconda.’ The sexy visual was chock-full o’ butts, with the rapper’s bodacious derriere taking center stage. The effort quite honestly broke the internet by earning the most YouTube views in a 24-hour period with 19.6 million.

Iggy Azalea, another rapper known for her famous backside, showed off her curves in ‘Fancy.’ Inspired by the cult classic film ‘Clueless,’ the video brought ’90s nostalgia to a whole new generation.

Action Bronson was inspired by the past for his ‘Easy Rider’ effort. Always the comedian, the Queens rapper took to his motorcycle in this adventure based upon ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.’ The video featured a bar fight, Native American wisdom and a cool bandana. Joey Bada$$’ ‘Christ Conscious’ and Flatbush Zombies‘ ’97.92′ both reminded us how much we miss the ’90s with oversized jerseys and a fish-eye lens views, respectively. 2 Chainz took his love of the past one step further by dedicating his ‘Freebase’ to the memory of Michael Jackson. Red jackets, forever.

Speaking of fashion, A$AP Rocky came back in 2014, with his ‘Multiply video. In the minimalist visual, Rocky went after high-end fashion lines like Been Trill.

Strange videos were aplenty this year. Low Pros‘ ’100 Bottles’ was a strange journey of bright lights and monsters in Japan while Childish Gambino‘s ‘Telegraph Ave’ was a vacation in paradise gone wrong. One of the weirdest visuals belonged to Flying Lotus, whose ‘Never Catch Me’ featured a Kendrick Lamar verse and two kids dancing from their coffins. You have to see it to believe it.

So which artist deserves to win Hip-Hop Video of the Year? Vote for the rapper you feel should take home The Boombox Fan Choice Award below. Remember, you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Feb. 16 at 10AM EST. Watch all of the contenders’ videos here to refresh your memory.

Trey Songz Takes His Time on 'Slow Motion'

Slow Motion Tre SongzAudiomack

Trey Songz is a busy guy. The crooner is gearing up to go on the road with Chris Brown for the Between the Sheets tour, and he’ll also be heading out with Nicki Minaj for the European leg of her Pinkprint trek.

But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to take it slow — especially with the ladies. On his the ballad ‘Slow Motion, Trigga takes his time with his lady in the bedroom, but first he wants to see her dance seductively.

“I know you got all dressed up for the club, waiting on them to come pick you up / Now whipping straight back to the crib, finna give you something that you won’t forget / Baby I just want to get you out them clothes, I just want to see you dancing in slow motion,” he sings on the bedroom banger.

It doesn’t appear the new cut is for an upcoming album, since there hasn’t been any formal announcements. This could be just a one-off track Trey released to get fans ready for his tour.

Find out how the crooner slows things down below.

Mixtape of the Year – 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards

Tristan Fewings / Ilya S. Savenok / Rick Diamond / Neilson Barnard, Getty Images

Both newcomers and established artists took to the ‘nets to release free music through mixtapes in 2014. The competition for Mixtape of the Year for The Boombox Fan Choice Awards is a stacked one.

One of the most high-profile rappers to drop a project was Future, whose ‘Monster’ tape was filled with club bangers (‘F— Up Some Commas’) and plenty of Auto-Tune tracks.

Despite also releasing an album in 2014, Wiz Khalifa gave back to his fans with ’28 Grams.’ The less commercial effort found the Pittsburgh experimenting with collaborators like Metro Boomin’, Zaytoven and Sonny Digital. Another big-name release came courtesy of our friends at Cash Money Records. Under the Rich Gang umbrella, ‘Tha Tour, Pt. 1′ debuted featuring the likes of Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan alongside usual suspects like Birdman. With tracks like ‘Givenchy,’ Thugger is quickly becoming one of rap’s most-watched for 2015.

Speaking of songs named after fashion houses, since their hit ‘Versace,’ all eyes have been on Migos to release new music. The Atlanta trio dropped ‘No Label II’ and stuck to their comfort zone of rattling beats, Auto-Tune and hypnotic hooks.

One of the buzziest songs of the year was Dej Loaf‘s snarling ‘Try Me.’ The Detroit rapper capitalized on her heat by releasing the’Sell Sole’ mixtape. Shy Glizzy also enjoyed a catchy anthem with ‘Awwsome‘ and released two tapes in 2014: ‘Young Jefe’ and ‘Law 3,’ the latter with DJ Drama. Drama also makes another appearance on our list, helming Childish Gambino‘s ‘STN MNTN.’ Gambino flexes his skills and goes outside his usual nerd repertoire on this southern-influenced tape.

The South wasn’t the only region dominating mixtapes. Chicago’s Lil Bibby served up his ‘Free Crack 2′ while New Orleans’ Kevin Gates proved both melodic and menacing.

If there’s one tape true rap heads could unite over, it’s Slaughterhouse’s ‘House Rules.’ Rappers Royce Da 5’9”, Joe Budden, Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz traded bars over the sounds of beatmakers like Illmind, Harry Fraud, Nottz and Heatmakerz. ‘House Rules’ served as the teaser for the quartet’s anticipated sophomore release, ‘Glass House,’ in 2015.

Which project has your vote for Mixtape of the Year? Vote for the rapper you feel should take home The Boombox Fan Choice Award below. Remember you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Feb. 16 at 10AM EST. If you need a refresher on each tape, check them out here.

Fetty Wap vs. Lil Wayne – The Boombox Battle

Fetty Wap Lil WayneThe Boombox

Fetty Wap continues to hold it down with his third consecutive win in The Boombox Battle. He moved past Dipset in last week’s Battle, flying past the Harlem rappers with over 92 percent of the vote for his track, ‘Trap Queen.’

Hailing from Paterson, N.J., Fetty Wap’s ‘Trap Queen’ has been blowing up on the internet in many ways. With over 6 million listens on Soundcloud and more than 2.7 million views of the track’s video, the song has put Fetty on everyone’s radar and even landed him a deal with Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment.

The mid-tempo tune showcases Fetty’s sing-song rapping approach and his songwriting skills, which feature him loving his girl, money and the bando.

“I’m like, ‘Hey, what’s up, hello’ / Seen yo pretty ass soon as you came in that door / I just wanna chill, got a sack for us to roll / Married to the money, introduced her to my stove / Showed her how to whip it, now she remixin’ for low / She my trap queen, let her hit the bando / We be countin’ up, watch how far them bands go,” he delivers on the first verse.

This week, the opponent is Lil Wayne and his new song ‘S—’ remix, off his new mixtape ‘Sorry 4 the Wait 2.’ The song, which was produced by Mike WiLL Made It and originally released by Future, finds Weezy showing off his lyrical prowess — he even sings a bit on this one. He shares his frustrations about the delay of ‘Tha Carter V’ and avoids any semblance of a hook, relying on pauses and the singing to make it an even stronger track.

“Yeah, you see what I’m saying like you heard what you see, I’m a verbal disease, I’m allergic to me / Been a turd on these streets since my curtains was sheets / Chef on these beats, I’m just stirring the grease / That bitch you in love with, she working for me,” he delivers.

Who will win this week? Will Fetty Wap be able to hold on to the crown for one more week and become the next artist to enter The Boombox Hall of Fame? Or will Wayne’s aggressive track blow away the competition? Now it’s up to you. Go vote for your favorite song in the poll below. For this version of the sneaker, tanned leather is greeted with navy accents in a very well-blended manner. Set against a bed of white grain leather, the milky white on the outsole, laces and heel is a very interesting choice that pays off in spades.

Safaree Samuels Details Nicki Minaj Breakup on 'The Breakfast Club' [VIDEO]

Ever since Nicki Minaj and Safaree “Scaff Beezy” Samuels made their breakup public, their separation continues to be the topic of conversation on social media. On Tuesday morning (Jan. 13), Samuels appeared on Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’ and cleared the air about their heated breakup, among other things.

The conversation began with how Samuels and Minaj initially met. “We were in a group together called HoodStars. So we did the group thing for like two years, and it didn’t work out,” he said. “So she branched out and did her solo thing. We packed up two cars and moved to Atlanta and started going from there. We were friends at first and then it turned into a relationship. We were friends for like a year-and-a-half.”

Despite Minaj calling “SB” corny on Twitter, the rapper said he would never disparage her on social media.

“I would never do anything to publicly pull her down,” he states. “I want her to move on because I’m moving on.”

As far as who broke up with whom, SB wouldn’t go into details but he revealed that he simply left the situation. “I walked away. I’m not going to say I broke up, but I’m the one who walked away. I packed up my stuff and I left,” he revealed.

Overall, it appears that Samuels wasn’t getting the respect he felt he deserved in the relationship.

As far as the rumors that Meek Mill is dating Nicki Minaj, Samuels is not bothered by it. The rapper even said that he’s cool with Drake, who has been romantically linked to Minaj in the past.

“I don’t know Drake that well, but I like [him], he’s a respectable dude,” he said. “I don’t have a problem with him.”

In the end, he’s not concerned about any beefs or being blackballed in the music industry after breaking up with Minaj.

“I’m not worried about it,” SB said. “I don’t have beef with nobody. I’m trying to be fly.”

Usher Gets Engaged to Longtime Girlfriend and Manager Grace Miguel

Usher and Grace MiguelJonathan Leibson, Getty Images

It looks like Usher is getting back on the horse — the marriage horse that is — because he’s now engaged to longtime girlfriend and manager Grace Miguel.

According to Us Weekly, the 36-year-old R&B star and part-time ‘The Voice’ coach bought Miguel a colossal-sized engagement ring, which she was spotted wearing at a 2015 Golden Globes after-party.

This will be the singer’s second trip down the aisle — he married his personal stylist Tameka Foster in 2007. The former couple, who were married until 2009, have two children together: Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely.

At this time it’s not clear when Usher popped the question. Apparently the crooner and Miguel are trying to keep things on the hush-hush. “She’s happy, but they’re trying to keep it quiet,” a source revealed.

While the details surrounding the engagement are scarce, the Atlanta native did speak about his lady in an interview with Billboard magazine late last year. Usher has found the perfect mate in Miguel. “I have an incredible partner and manager,” he said. “She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career. She’s someone who’s been able to support and understand all of who I am. Not just as a dancer or as a performer or as a singer, but as a humanitarian and a business man and as a person.”

A huge congrats to the couple.
