DMX's Robbery Allegations in New Jersey 'Completely Absurd,' Attorney Says

DMXMike Lawrie, Getty Images

After being accused of robbing a man at a New Jersey gas station on Sunday (April 5), DMX is fighting back against the allegations.

The rapper’s attorney, Murray Richman, told E! News the report his client robbed someone is “completely absurd.”

As previously reported, a 21-year-old man claims the rapper and his crew were at an Exxon gas station in Newark around midnight. While he began speaking with them, he states a member of DMX’s entourage allegedly showed a weapon and demanded money. The victim then pulled out $3,200 in cash, of which DMX “snatched the money out of his hand” then hopped into one of four Cadillac Escalades and left the station, according Newark police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover. The victim then followed the vehicles and got the license plate of an SUV.

Richman explained that the rapper was at the gas station to put gas in his vehicle, not to rob anyone. While it’s true that DMX and his entourage met the victim, Richman states Darkman X was refusing drugs not trying to steal money.

“[DMX] was leaving a show [the Masters of Ceremony show at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center], a very successful show, and he stopped for gas,” Richman said. “Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered [DMX] drugs. He said no and told them to go… They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense.”

The Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood creator has not publicly addressed the incident, opting to promote his upcoming performances such as his show in San Francisco tonight.

Christina Milian Admits She Loves Lil Wayne [VIDEO]

For the past several months, Christina Milian has been very coy about her relationship with Lil Wayne. Whenever the singer gets asked about their romance, she insists that they’re dealings are platonic or strictly business. But recently Milian spilled the beans and admitted that she loves her boo Weezy.

During an interview with Big Boy on Real 92.3 in Los Angeles, the “Dip It Low” singer let the world know her feelings for Wayne. “He’s the sweetest; I love him,” she blurted out before realizing her gaffe. “I just said it. I do. I do love him.”

Milian did add that she is not engaged to Wayne when asked if the ring she had on her finger was given to her by the MC. “It was just a sweet little gift. It was a nice gesture,” she stated. Nevertheless, it looks like the love bug has bitten the singer-turned-actress.

When Big Boy asked Milian how they go out in dates without being attacked by paparazzi, the 33-year-old R&B mom explained what a date night usually entails.

“Honestly, he’s not a public kind of guy; he’s not a public figure,” she said. “If you look at his Twitter, he tweets every now and then. He just started an Instagram. You don’t really see him out much — he really is like: studio, skatepark, eat, studio, skatepark. I go out to watch him all the time.”

When she’s not hanging out with Weezy, she’s currently working on her solo project for Young Money. She just released a new video for her single, “We Ain’t Worried.” In addition, Milian will star in the Hulu original series East Los High, which is set to debut in the fall.

Jhene Aiko Faces Car Crash, Pays Tribute to Late Brother in 'Eternal Sunshine' Video

Jhene Aiko knows how to pull on our heart strings with her honest and unfiltered lyrics, but her new video for “Eternal Sunshine” really hits our emotional side too.

Directed by Jay Ahn, the video shows Jhene lying on the pavement but she gradually starts to rise above the ground. She lies still the whole time and is singing straight to the camera as she lifts toward the heavens. As the video progresses, we see that she’s levitating above a car crash and we’re led to believe that her spirit is heading up to the sky.

But although it is a somber sight, Jhene sounds hopeful in the first verse. “Is it strange for me to say / That if I were to die today / There’s not a thing that I would change / I lived well / Maybe I have made mistakes / And been through my fair share of pain / But all in all, it’s been okay / I’ve lived well,” she sings.

Midway through the visual, clips of a little girl and her siblings are shown as well as Jhene buckling her little girl into her seat. And soon we see the accident unfold. The video ends with clips of her late brother, Miyagi, who died in 2012, after losing his battle with cancer.

The car accident depicted in the video brings to light a car crash Jhene was in two years ago. Her daughter Namiko; sister Miyoko and Namiko’s father O’Ryan were also in the car. The singer suffered a broken wrist.

We can’t help but applaud her for wearing her heart on her sleeve in her visuals as well as her music.

Kid Cudi vs. Snootie Wild – The Boombox Battle

Kid Cudi Snootie WildThe Boombox

With more than 85 percent of the fan vote, Kid Cudi takes the win in this week’s Boombox Battle. The victory against Wale’s “The White Shoes” is Cudder’s third consecutive rise to the top in the competition.

Spending more time on movie sets than in studio booths these days, the Cleveland native returns to the mic with his latest song, “Love.” He laments about loneliness but sounds triumphant by the time he reaches the hook on the track, which samples Ratatat’s “Sunblocks.”

“Don’t be so down, come on young homie / You’ll be okay, you’ll find real love / All of the stories the hero gets lonely, now is the time to show all you’re made of,” he delivers.

The next artist to go against Cudi is Snootie Wild. The Memphis rapper’s new effort, “Play Wit a Brick,” finds him spitting over an aggressive beat. He’d rather work hard and focus on making cash than be occupied with women. The song is a strong follow-up to his breakout hit “Yayo” and is off his upcoming mixtape, Ain’t No Stopping Me, hosted by DJ Drama.

“You n—-s a trip, you need to get you a grip / Bitches they never come over my guap, forever finesse out of naught / It really don’t matter or not, still gonna f— on the spot / Package up after drop, bitch get out of my spot,” Snootie raps.

Will Kid Cudi’s heartfelt song win again and make him the next Boombox Battle Hall of Fame inductee? Or will Snootie Wild’s take-no-prisoners flow move him to the top? Now it’s time for you to choose. Go vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember, you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., April 14, at 10AM ET.

Billie Holiday to Be Inducted Into Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame

Today (April 7) marks the 100th birthday of jazz icon Billie Holiday. In honor of her centennial born day, the Philadelphia Music Alliance has announced that the late songbird will be one of the inductees of the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame this year.

“The Philadelphia Music Alliance wanted to present what we think is a ‘perfect’ birthday gift to an extraordinary vocalist, Billie Holiday, and announce her induction on her 100th birthday,” Philadelphia Music Alliance chairman Alan Rubens said in a press release (via USA Today ).

Holiday, whose real name is Elinore Harris, was born in Philadelphia General Hospital, located in West Philadelphia. Although she was primarily raised in Baltimore, the “Strange Fruit” singer has always made it a point to recognize Philly as her second home. In fact, she would often perform in the city and stay at the Douglass Hotel.

Holiday, who is affectionately called “Lady Day,” joins fellow homegrown jazz inductees like Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Grover Washington Jr., and others. The Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame is located on Broad Street between Walnut Street and Spruce Street.

The legendary jazz vocalist, who died on July 17, 1959, will be joined by a group of other inductees, which will be announced in late May. Holiday passed away due to pulmonary edema and heart failure caused by cirrhosis of the liver.

B.B. King Rushed to Hospital in Las Vegas

B.B. King was rushed to the hospital over the weekend, but his daughter Claudette reveals the legendary blues guitarist is “doing much better.”

The Los Angeles Times reports King was hospitalized in Las Vegas after suffering from dehydration caused by Type II diabetes, a condition he has had for more than 20 years.

The “King of Blues” had to cancel the remainder of his tour in October 2014, when he became sick during a show and was diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration.

The blues player is known for hits like “The Thrill Has Gone,” “Rock Me Baby” and “Everyday I Have the Blues.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, and is deemed as one of the best guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone and Gibson. In 1989, he collaborated with U2 on “When Love Comes to Town,” and more recently was featured on Big K.R.I.T.’s 2012 LP, Live From the Underground .

Game Sued by Cop He Punched at Basketball Game, Brain Damage Included in Lawsuit

Game may have let his fists of fury loose during a basketball game last month, but the punch will likely cost him big bucks since the victim he assaulted is now suing.

Onyebuchi Awaji, an off-duty rookie police officer, was personally introduced to the newly inked portrait of Mike Tyson on Game’s hand when he punched him in the face in the middle of a basketball game in Los Angeles. He is suing the rapper over the incident, which he claims he did nothing to provoke, according to TMZ.

Awaji filed the suit on Monday (April 6), stating that the blow to the head he received may have caused brain damage. Sources affiliated with Game’s camp maintain he struck Awaji in self-defense after he threatened the MC with a gun.

It looks like this is one courtroom drama that can turn ugly. TMZ released video of the scuffle on March 31 and both men seemed to elbow one another as usual in the contact sport. In any event, Game has yet to respond to the suit. He appears to be living life as usual, kicking it in the studio with Drake earlier this week.

Marshawn Lynch, E-40 and Mistah F.A.B. Invite You to Oakland in XXL's 'Run This Town' [VIDEO]

Welcome to Oakland, rap fans. Resident rappers Mistah F.A.B. and E-40 invite you inside their neighborhood — around 40th Street and West Street to be exact — thanks to XXL‘s new video series, Run This Town. Mr. “Beast Mode” Marshawn Lynch, a running back for the Seattle Seahawks, also joins in the conversation, which gives an inside look into the people, places and things that influenced them coming up in the home of the hyphy movement.

Marshawn Lynch, famous for his “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” catchphrase during media day prior to the 2015 Super Bowl, is a bit more vocal here, chiming in on memories of the block he and the Son of a Pimp creator — the two are cousins — grew up on.

“This where we used to come. Stores, dice games, parties, house parties,” F.A.B. says as he, Lynch and two friends sit in the stairwell of an apartment complex.

“First bike stole,” Lynch adds.

“A lot of cats from the 40s, this was our meeting grounds right here. It was our central unit for everybody to go bust they moves whatever they was doing when we was kids. It birthed a lot of stuff but it also taught us a lot stuff. We lost a lot of homies,” F.A.B. continues.

Just like they’re influencing the youth with their respective moves in the music and sports worlds, F.A.B. and Lynch looked to local artists 3X Krazy, Bad-N-Fluenz, Dangerous Dame and Askari X to provide the soundtrack to their teenage years.

At one point, the rapper gets caught up in his feelings, as Lynch puts it, addressing the latter’s positive community involvement despite the media attaching negativity to his name, which has caused him to become apprehensive when speaking with journalists. “To all y’all media outlets, to all you ESPNs and CNNs… y’all wanna know how y’all can get it, come to our block, come to the Fam First football program, come to the block parties, come to the backpack giveaways, come out here,” F.A.B. states.

When E-40 makes his appearance, he arrives with a bottle in hand and delivers daps all around. The three pose for photos and share laughs as 40 admits he has a “best side” for the camera. While F.A.B. points out that he notices the “Tell Me When to Go” MC has been in the gym, 40 responds with a hilarious quip. “Come on man, I tuck that thing in,” he states, referring to his belly.

Watch Marshawn Lynch drop some gems about his football career and community involvement, Mistah F.A.B. take a visit to auntie’s house and E-40 make you laugh above.

Frank Ocean Will Release New Album in July

David M. Benett, Getty Images

If you’re an R&B fan, you’ve likely asked yourself this question: “When is Frank Ocean releasing another album?” After dropping his critically acclaimed LP, Channel Orange, in 2012, the singer will finally be releasing a new project this summer.

The “Super Rich Kids” singer made the announcement on his official website by posting a photo of himself as he sits besides two stacks of magazines. In the caption, he reveals he will be releasing an album as well as a new publication this year. “’I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.’ #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY,” Ocean wrote as the caption to the image, which you can view below.

While he didn’t reveal any other details about the new record, we do get a sneak peak at the two different covers of the magazine, Boys Don’t Cry. Ocean made the focus of the announcement about the publications on his Tumblr as well. Billboard confirms he will indeed be releasing both the magazine and album.

A new album and a magazine? We can see why Ocean has been laying low over the past few years.

However, Ocean didn’t completely go off the radar. Instead, he made a few changes. After firing his management and PR teams last summer, Ocean signed a new management deal with Three Six Zero in September 2014. He also tried to legally change his name from Christopher Breaux to Frank Ocean in November, but unfortunately that didn’t work out.

On the music front, Ocean teased a new tune called “Memrise” and also covered Aaliyah’s ‘At Your Best (You Are Love)’ with his version titled “You Are Luhh” earlier this year. Whether or not these two tracks will make the new LP is still unknown. But we’re more than happy to know that Ocean is putting out a new project in July. The summer is going to be full of heat when it comes to his music.
