Wiz Khalifa Fights Amber Rose Over Custody of Son Sebastian
Things are getting complicated in Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose’s divorce. Following word that Rose is seeking full custody of the couple’s 1-year-old son Sebastian, the rapper is now asking for joint custody.
TMZ shares the news, which comes on the heels of other details about the high-profile split. The prenup numbers have been uncovered and the ‘We Dem Boyz’ rapper will provide spousal support for Rose for around $5,000 a month. Plus he’ll give her a one-time payout of more than $1 million.
Sebastian, affectionately called “Bash,” was born in February 2013. “Everyone welcome this perfect young man into the world,” Wiz tweeted at the time.
Rose claims that Wiz’s infidelity broke up their happy home but rumors are circling that she may have stepped out on him with Nick Cannon. The ‘Wild ‘N Out’ host, who’s apparently going through his own marriage drama with wife Mariah Carey, recently inked a deal to manage Amber.

Beyonce's Self-Titled Album Is a Case Study at Harvard Business School
Beyonce caught everyone off guard when she released her self-titled album on Dec. 13, 2013. The collection sold 600,000 copies in three days and made the music industry rethink their business model.
Harvard Business School will publish a case study next week examining how Queen Bey and her management team, Parkwood Entertainment, were able to pull off releasing an album without a marketing campaign or fanfare. With interviews from top executives at Parkwood Entertainment, Columbia Records, Facebook and Apple, the HBS case study details how all the parties involved were able to carry out such an ambitious and costly task without anyone knowing.
“She’s clearly among the most powerful people in the music industry at the moment… so to understand the operation behind such a powerful figure is always very interesting,” said Anita Elberse, the Lincoln Filene Professor of Business Administration at HBS who co-wrote the case study with a former student, Stacie Smith, M.B.A. ’14.
The case study will also explore what Queen Bey’s trailblazing achievement will mean for the future of marketing in the music industry and if any other artist can successfully employ this business model.
“I think most people regard this release as a huge success artistically, and I am among them. But whether it was worth it from a business perspective is for the students to figure out,” said Elberse.
What do you think? Did Beyonce’s surprise release of her self-titled album help her or hinder her business-wise? Tell us in the comments below.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Booed at Paris Fashion Show [VIDEO]
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have been causing a stir at Paris Fashion week — and we’re not talking about their matching cleavage.
When the two arrived at the Lanvin runway show yesterday (Sept. 25), they were met with a herd of paparazzi and loud boos from the crowd.
According to TMZ, the couple arrived at their front row seats after the show already started, which may have sparked the booing. However, in unsurprising Kanye fashion, he walked through the group of photographers to tell the naysayers off.
“Don’t boo us. We’re not late. We’re not late,” the rapper said then walked back to his seat.
Frequent attendees at Paris Fashion Week, it seems that Kanye and Kim’s trip this season has been a tiresome and unsafe one, especially since someone tried to attack the reality TV star. But it looks like nothing will stop them because it’s all in the name of fashion.

Big Sean Speaks on Ariana Grande Relationship [VIDEO]
Since the video of Ariana Grande and Big Sean holding hands at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards surfaced, the rumor mill has been on full blast about the two dating. Now the rapper is finally addressing the lady he’s been linked to coupling up with.
“I like to keep my personal life personal, you know what I’m saying,” he told Ryan Secrest when he stopped by the radio host’s show earlier today (Sept. 26). “I am going to tell you this that Ariana is very, very special. And she’s very special to me. Everything she has going on is good with her. Everything that I have going on is good with me. Everything between me and her is good, and I’m just gonna leave it at that.”
Now that long yet somewhat vague response still seems to hop around the bush, but it seems like there is something really blossoming between the two artists that goes beyond the studio and stage. So we’re curious to see how much longer these two will be able to keep there romance on the DL.
His remarks are interesting considering he was very public with his engagement to former fiancee Naya Rivera. The two solidified their plans to get married when Sean popped the question in October 2013. However, in April of this year, they called it quits. Three months after their split, she wed actor Ryan Dorsey.
Aside from all the love talk, Sean and Ryan chatted about his career beginnings and the daily trips the rapper took to Hot 107.5 in Detroit. Sean not only reminisced about those days but also gave thanks for the support that he got from the station, especially when Kanye West came calling.
“They are proud,” he said. “They are proud to make that happen. And honestly without that station, not just for doing that every week, but when Kanye called, he called the station. He lost my contact, and the station was like ‘Yeah, we have his number, and I’m grateful for them.”
Big Sean recently released four new songs, ‘Jit/Juke,’ ’4th Quarter,’ ‘Paradise’ and ‘I Don’t F— With You.’ The latter is rumored to be aimed at Rivera, however, the MC shot down those rumors.

Maya Angelou's Poetry Gets Hip-Hop Treatment on 'Caged Bird Songs' Album
What happens when you put Maya Angelou‘s poems over a blues beat? How about the sounds of hip-hop? The results are stomping rhythms paired with powerful lyrics. Producers RoccStarr and Shawn Rivera of Az Yet are creating an album doing just with ‘Caged Bird Songs.’
The project, recorded in both Los Angeles and at the late poet’s home in North Carolina, features Angelou’s work set to the tune of contemporary hip-hop.
‘Still I Rise’ is the first single off ‘Caged Bird Songs.’ The effort kicks off with Angelou’s bold words backed by a choir echoing throughout the track. “You may write me down in history / With your butter, twisted lies / You may trod me in the very dirt / But still like dust I rise,” she states over the guitar-riddled track.
This isn’t the first time Angelou has stepped into the music world. The lauded wordsmith has done a calypso album, collaborated with the likes of Roberta Flack and Wynton Marsalis and worked on seven songs with Ashford and Simpson for their ‘Been Found’ album. Angelou has also won three Grammys for her spoken word albums, received a TONY Award and has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Fans of hip-hop and poetry alike will quickly be drawn to this record, and you can pre-order it now before it drops on Nov. 4 via Amazon.

This or That? Lloyd Banks vs. Robb Bank$
Once upon a time, Lloyd Banks was the hottest young rapper in New York. When G-Unit ran things, the Punchline King was who people waited to hear pop up on a record. Hot 97 freestyles, G-Unit Radio mixtapes, you name it — people just wanted to hear Banks tear s–t to shreds.
The last buzzing record he had was ‘Make It Stack,’ bolstered by a feature from the then-buzzing A$AP Rocky in 2012. Rocky’s verse isn’t even dope; the importance of his presence on the song speaks volumes about the state of New York rap today. Banks starts the song with, “Too much thinking, on top of that I’m gettin’ high and drinking,” digging a little deeper than he usually does. It’s a streak that is perhaps most often inspired by Doe Pesci, the producer behind ‘Make It Stack,’ ‘Failures No Option,’ and ‘You Wish,’ some of the strongest songs Banks has dropped in recent years. But without a rapper who sounds like he’s from the South, Banks no longer gets any love. In a 2006 XXL feature after his ‘Rotten Apple’ LP went triple wood, he even took a shot at the South and claimed NY would be back on top once more. That’s yet to happen.
How quickly us New Yorkers forget. No, the PLK isn’t what he used to be, but he’s still the nicest one in G-Unit, whether or not that means anything. He was even being groomed as a singles artist back in the ‘Hunger For More’ days, but he couldn’t sustain his status after the debut LP. What we’re left with today are solid, non-commercial projects like 2012′s ‘Cold Corner 2′ that leave Lloyd Banks looking just like the cover art.
Fly down the Eastern seaboard to Florida and you’ll find a trendier artist: Robb Bank$. He’s in the same vein as artists like Yung Lean, Main Attrakionz, SpaceGhostPurrp, and A$AP Rocky — guys whose songs are determined more by production and atmosphere than lyrics. His songs, like the above ‘Practice,’ float in a cup of codeine, often thanks to beat wizards like Nuri and Purrp. Robb’s flows tend to oscillate between hyperactive and molasses-like, which is at least more intriguing than some of these other nighty night rappers today. In 2012, I watched Action Bronson walk into an office and tell everyone he thought Bank$’s live show was dope.
That year, Robb broke out with his project ‘Calendars,’ where his somewhat schizophrenic personality was on full display over Aaliyah samples and Clams Casino beats. He parlayed the buzz from that project into a couple singles on iTunes, including ‘Look Like Basquiat’ (groan) and ‘I’m That N–ga,’ but nothing popped., though his fanbase remains as loyal as any. Recently, he’s begun working with Sir Michael Rocks and doing shows with the Cool Kid, but Robb’s core fans still await the much-anticipated ‘Year Of The Savage” LP from the South Florida rapper.
He’s not nicer than Lloyd Banks, though. To reiterate: yes, PLK has lost a step from the days of flaming Funk Flex freestyles, but the market has changed more than he has, and in an industry where nostalgia (instead of futurism) seems to fuel a majority of today’s buzzing NY artists, you can understand why people want to hear G-Unit more than they want to hear about Lloyd Banks’s feelings. It’s a shame, because Banks has done solid work with relatively unknown producers like Tha Jerm and Formula 2, but few people care. You have to sound Southern if you want to be ‘On Fire’ now.
Robb Bank$ has the charisma to go places, though his last mixtape, ‘Tha City,’ was too monochromatic to grab any new fans. Lloyd has seemed disgruntled in the past – he was ready to call it quits after ‘Rotten Apple’ – but perhaps the reunion of G-Unit will light a fire under his ass to take advantage of the spotlight. He can’t let 50 determine his career forever, and if Bank$ wants to reach the next level, he can’t let production steer his path either. Robb needs to show he can dominate a beat instead of the other way around. If he masters that, and tweaks his songwriting towards something catchy, you might see him pop up with a hit soon.
Soulja Boy's DNA Test Shows He Didn't Father Woman's Child
Soulja Boy can breathe a sigh of relief. After a lengthy paternity battle, DNA test results have proved that the rapper is not the father of a 7-year-old child.
If you recall, last year, the ‘Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood’ star was slapped with a paternity lawsuit by Diamond Shantaniece MacKay, who claimed that he was the dad of her son Portlon. Soulja Boy has denied the allegations and took a DNA test to prove it.
Thankfully, Maury didn’t need to be called because the results were in favor of the ‘Crank That’ rapper.
According to TMZ, Miami Mike, a rep for Soulja Boy, says his client is angry because Mackey has been calling him a deadbeat dad. The 24-year-old artist is also sad for the child who doesn’t know his biological father.
Currently, Soulja Boy is dating Teddy Riley’s daughter Nia Riley and their relationship on ‘Love & Hip Hop’ looks like it’s getting serious.
“I really do love my girl and I’m really tryna make this relationship work with her,” he told HipHollywood. “I’ve met her pops, he’s real cool … I’m not sure if he approves or not, but you’ll have to watch and see.”

Atmosphere Goes Retro in 'My Lady Got Two Men' Video
Atmosphere is taking it back to the old school — the very old school. Slug and Ant transport viewers back to the ’70s with this music video for the duo’s standout track ‘My Lady Got Two Men,’ off their latest album ‘Southsiders.’
The visuals have little to do with the actual song as the two simply deliver a funny picture for the audience. The video uses a grainy filter to complete the retro vibe and features a few mannequins serving as Slug’s backup band. Slug is decked out in a polyester disco shirt, rose-colored glasses and a bad wig as he does his best Elton John or Stevie Wonder impression behind the piano. The comical imagery may actually distract from the creativity of the actual song.
“Let me start by telling you I love you / Thank you for making me a part of the puzzle / I imagine it was quite the struggle / But you still found time and taught yourself to juggle / Girl, would you give me a kiss for a fist full of flowers / This could be ours / Girl, could you get rid of that other dude? / Cut him loose and kick him to the multitude / I can’t picture why you would split your time / Between I and an additional guy / Seems like more wear then it’s worth when / You’re the one that’s gotta bear this burden / I give you love and respect / But that other stud got nothing to give but stress / Life as a wifey shouldn’t be so hard / But everybody gotta be who they think they are, listen,” Slug raps.
As the song comes to end, the music abruptly cuts off and the camera pans over to find Ant applauding in approval. It’s a lighthearted video that shows just how much fun Atmosphere’s having, pun intended.
‘Southsiders’ is available now on Rhymesayers Entertianment. And don’t forget to read The Boombox’s exclusive interview with Slug. We spoke to the rapper earlier this year to discusses the album and creative process behind ‘My Lady Got Two Men.’
Soulja Boy is NOT the Father of Ex-Girlfriend's 7-Year-Old Son (@souljaboy @)
Soulja Boy's ex-girlfriend Diamond Shantaniece Mackey has been claiming for the last seven years that the "Kiss Me Thru the Phone" rapper is the biological father of her son, a claim he's denied from the jump.
