Stevie J on Mimi's Sex Tape: She Should Have Known Better (@MsJoseline @HitmanstevieJ)

Stevie J and Joseline had a lot to say about Mimi and her infamous sex tape.

In an interview with Big Tigger after the season 3 premiere of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, the couple discussed their reactions to the sex tape.

"Wasn't he putting fingers in his own rump in the video?" Stevie said.

Joseline who has been very vocal about her disgust for the video, included that Nikko isn't the man he claims to be.

"I heard that he put on in hers and one in his at the same time." Joseline added. "But I don't have anything against the ones that swindle that way."

She also added that she wasn't impressed with Mimi's performance.

"Ain't nothing sexy about you hanging off a shower curtain, or saggy boobies that are hanging down to your ankles," she said. "Or no chicken thighs or no chicken legs."

Stevie added that he was disappointed in his ex and mentioned that Vivid contacted himself and Joseline to make a dirty flick with K.Michelle first. The two declined because they didn't want to "sell their souls" to the devil.

See what else Stevie and Joseline had to say above.

XXL Debuts 2014 Freshman Class

2014 Freshman ClassXXL

Class is in session! XXL magazine unveils the lineup for its Freshman 2014 cover. This year, two R&B singers are included much to the chagrin of devoted rap heads.

This year’s “Dirty Dozen” includes rappers Isaiah Rashad, Jon Connor, Lil Bibby, Jarren Benton, Kevin Gates, Lil Durk, Rich Homie Quan, Chance the Rapper, Troy Ave, Vic Mensa and R&B newcomers Ty Dolla $ign and August Alsina.

As usual with these types of lists, reactions have been both congratulatory and critical.

“There’s always going to snubs for the XXL freshman cover, but this year, I think they did a good job,” tweeted one fan, while another commented, “XXL ain’t do enough digging for the freshman list. All those guys have been rapping for 3 years plus. Chance got snubbed in 2012.”

Some are also wondering why such artists like G Eazy, Young Thug, Casey Veggies, Vince Staples and many others didn’t make the cut.

We must also mention that there isn’t a female rapper on this year’s list. C’mon XXL, you couldn’t find one female artist to grace the cover?

Who do you think should’ve appeared on XXL Magazine’s 2014 Freshman cover? Tell us in the comments below.

Thick Nya Lee Does Vegas in Tight See-Through Dress (@realnyalee)

Nya Lee is consistently one of the baddest chicks on the scene. She hit up Vegas this weekend with a host of other celebs (like Fabolous pictured above) for the Mayweather fight and stunned in a completely see-through number that left her curves on display for the world to see.

Tiny Recalls First Date With T.I. and Addresses Divorce Rumors (@TinyMajorMama)

Tiny hit up Arsenio Hall last week to address whether she and ATL rapper T.I. are still boo'd up, and she revealed they are definitely still together. As with her recent appearance on Wendy Williams, Tiny wore her ring on her right hand instead of her left, which she says is one reason people still believe the rumor, when in actuality her left ring finger has been too swollen to rock the ring.

She also recalled meeting T.I. in the mall, and him pursuing her after she went into Victoria's Secret, later taking her to the $3 café.

Stash x Reebok Pump Runner Dual 'Excellent Red'

End

It’s safe to say that Reebok is a friend of street artists as they can list Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat as posthumous “collaborators.” Well this time they’ve chosen to give someone their flowers while they could still smell ‘em as Stash is one of the next to get busy on this Reebok Pump Runner Dual.

You may remember the Reebok Pump Runner Dual as a suede and mesh or leather runner but this pair plays a camo print canvas upper that balances excellent red an grey as well as black accents. The sneakers come off as fresh as any end to end burner that you may see perched above the city or gliding by on the train.

These are available now at select Reebok retailers and you don’t have to be an art collector to appreciate them at all. If you are looking for a statement piece this summer we’d suggest copping them

Scientist Breaks Down Rappers With Largest Vocabulary in Hip-Hop

Rappers Vocabulary Chartmfdaniels.tumblr.com

A data scientist has figured out who is the most loquacious rhymer in the rap game. Matt Daniels, a digital analyst, has created a chart that explores which rapper has the largest vocabulary. The end result may surprise you.

According to Daniels’ project, “The Largest Vocabulary in Hip-Hop,” New York wordsmith Aesop Rock had the highest number of unique words used at 7,392. The GZA was next with 6,426 words followed by several different members of the Wu-Tang Clan. Rappers Canibus and Kool Keith also ranked high on the list.

As for the break down of the chart, it’s a little complicated. Daniels tallies the number of unique words from the first 35,000 lyrics of 85 artists and uses Shakespeare as his barometer because he used 28,829 words, suggesting he knew over 100,000 words and arguably had the largest vocabulary, ever.

Unfortunately, artists like Kendrick Lamar and Notorious B.I.G. were not included in the process because they didn’t have much content.

So in the end, Aesop Rock was crowned the most verbalistic while DMX had the least vocab out of 85 rap artists.

To see all of the charts and the accompanying infographics, click here.

Meanwhile, Aesop Rock was flattered by the kinds words from his fans regarding the vocabulary chart. He was even more humbled by the recognition of being a top lexicon in rap.

Jennifer Lopez Is Scorching Hot on 'A.K.A.' Album Cover

Jennifer LopezCapitol

Twenty-something ladies, pay attention. If you think you’ve reached your peak of beauty now, just look at Jennifer Lopez‘s new album cover — it gives you something to look forward to.

The 44-year-old renaissance woman released the cover art for her new album ‘A.K.A.’ On the ruby red cover, Lopez sports a red leather body hugging dress, which doesn’t leave too much to the imagination since the top portion of the dress is made of straps that surround her breasts. The ‘American Idol’ judge completely spills out of it, as she looks straight ahead with intense bedroom eyes.

The album cover is certainly a departure for Lopez, as her other covers like ‘On the 6′ and ‘Love?’ are way more tame. And even though she showed a little sexiness on the covers of ‘This Is Me’ and ‘Rebirth,’ it was understated. Now it looks like she’s not pulling any punches in the va va voom department.

So far, J. Lo has released two songs off the forthcoming album: ‘I Luh Ya Papi’ featuring French Montana, and ‘First Love,’ an ode to the man who’s captured her heart now so she’s forgetting about the rest.

Between both of those singles, it’s clear that Lopez has updated her sound a bit to compete with the ever-changing soundscape of today’s pop, dance and R&B music.

And if the ‘A.K.A’ album cover is any indication of the overall sound, fans should prepare themselves for a no-holds-barred, grown and still sexy kind of album, which is exactly what pop music needs right now.

Rihanna Leaves Def Jam for Big Bro Jay Z's Roc Nation (@rihanna, @s_c_)

In a move that should surprise very few, Rihanna has left her home label Def Jam to follow mentor and big brother Hov over to Roc Nation. Jay was the one who signed Riri to Def Jam in the first place while President of the label, so it makes sense that eventually she would officially pick up and follow Mr. Carter.

Jay moved Roc Nation from Columbia Records to Universal a little under a year ago, and its website now lists Rihanna as an artist, as opposed to just under their management which has been in place for quite a while.

Rihanna will be joining artists like J. Cole, Rita Ora, DJ Mustard and of course Hov himself.

Atmosphere, 'Southsiders' [ALBUM REVIEW]

Rhymesayers

Atmosphere’s longevity and success are incredible. Outside of Tech N9ne, there are few independent hip-hop acts who can match the Minneapolis, MN duo’s rĂ©sumĂ©. Slug and Ant are founders of Rhymesayers, which remains one of the top indie rap labels to this day. They’ve also amassed a loyal legion of fans as the flagship group of the aforementioned label.

Slug’s brutally honest rhymes and penchant for colorful storytelling paired with Ant’s skillful mastery of the boards has connected with listeners ranging from the most ardent hip-hop head to the indie rock fan who barely acknowledged rap’s existence. And while onetime member Spawn did exit the group in the early stages, Atmosphere has also managed to avoid the breakup/reunion saga that plagues many groups who’ve been around for close to two decades.

The duo’s eighth studio album, ‘Southsiders’, follows Atmosphere’s progression as not just artists, but the men behind the music. The angst-fueled and sarcastic sentiments that were once commonplace for Slug are replaced by poignant wisdom and appreciation. Ant is no longer crate-digging for the perfect loops, but tasked with bringing a vibrant sound to life using a band. These developments are not brand new, but ‘Southsiders’ feels the finely tuned result of Atmosphere’s growth over the past six or so years.

While Slug’s outlook is different, one thing that hasn’t changed is his subject matter. He is still an open book as his life experiences are on the full display once again. ‘Camera Thief,’ the opening track, serves as a prologue of sorts. Slug catches you up to speed as he fills in the blanks for the years between 2011’s ‘The Family Sign’ and the release of ‘Southsiders.’ The track’s structure is far from formulaic, emphasizing Slug’s every word and following the steadying hand of Ant’s piano-driven production with an extended intro and outro.

Ant continues his trend of using live instrumentation and forgoing the sample-based, stripped down production style that he once used. Now, Ant is more of an orchestra conductor.as opposed to the one-man beat making machine.

If you were not a fan of this shift that started back on 2008’s ‘When Life Gives You Lemons’, you won’t find anything on ‘Southsiders’ that harkens back to the old days. But if you were on board for this change, you’ll see that Ant has seemingly found the sweet spot of this new formula.

On the vocal side, there’s perhaps no better example of Slug’s evolution as an MC than his performance on ‘Star Shaped Heart’. In the past, Slug would look to match this type of booming beat with an equally intense delivery. Instead, Slug stays even-keeled as he deftly maneuvers through the soundscape without being so forceful.

The title track, ‘Southsiders’, is a clear standout with its vintage sound. Ant utilizes hard-hitting drums and an omnipresent guitar to create a frenetic beat as Slug boasts about Atmosphere’s staying power in the rap game.

A staple of Slug’s storytelling has always been his relationships, and this album is no different. ‘Mrs. Interpret’ sees Ant provide a mellow backdrop as Slug expresses his admiration for a love interest while lamenting his tendency to misread the opposite sex.

‘My Lady Got Two Men’ is one of Atmosphere’s most creative tracks to date. On the surface, the song appears to be a case of Slug being stuck in love triangle and fighting for his girl’s undying attention. But as the story unfolds, Slug reveals that it is competition between himself.

Slug raps, “But I don’t expect you to change the arrangement / and the truth is I try to support / but I can’t thrive when I’m ignored / and I can see that you don’t wanna cut the cord / but it’s gotta be something more than this tug of war / girl you the shine on the crown / so why you try and let that clown come around / from now and till the universe swallows the Earth / I won’t pretend that I can follow how it works / ever since this began I’ve been a different man / and then a different man and then a different man / I wonder who I’m gonna be tonight / just take our hand and it’ll be alright / come here.”

The tone changes for ‘Flicker’, which is easily the most powerful song on the album. In an ode to the late Eyedea, Slug revisits their close friendship and mourns his passing. Slug doesn’t gloss over anything over the ups and downs though, expressing regret for how the two grew apart. Slug’s heartfelt words are sure to hit home for anyone who has lost a loved one.

‘Southsiders’ is an amazing experience for those who have been along for the ride with Slug and Ant all these years. The two have managed to evolve and progress naturally over the years while still staying true to themselves. This album is certainly not the place for any kind of introduction to Atmosphere, nor one for those who simply crave for the duo to fall back on the tropes of their earliest work. But for those who have faithfully followed the path of Atmosphere’s journey, ‘Southsiders’ is fitting reward for this latest stop on the enduring road.

Luke Christopher Releases New Song 'Life Jackets'

lukechristophermusic.tumblr.com

Luke Christopher lets you know that “love ain’t gonna save you” on his new song ‘Life Jackets.’

The singer, who hails from Los Angeles, also showcases his rapping abilities on the piano-driven track.

The song is a perfect showing of all of things the 20-year-old multi-faceted artist brings to the table — his singing, rapping and production skills.

Luke sings of a woman who wants to dive deep with her love yet the guy by her side doesn’t want to take the plunge with her. “She was looking at me like can we make this for real, boy, I’m ready / I was looking at her like baby this is the deal, don’t you get it?”

He also recently released the self-produced ‘Bedroom Trip‘ as part of his TMRW Gang Tuesdays series.

The crooner is signed to Bystorm Entertainment/RCA Records. Bystorm, lead by CEO Mark Pitts, has helped launch the careers of artists such as J. Cole and Miguel.

Saigon Believes Jay Electronica Lost His Path Due to 'Rich White Woman'

Saigon is a bit upset with Jay Electronica. In a newly released interview with VladTV, the New York MC speaks at length about the ‘Exhibit C’ rhymer in terms of the strong buzz he received after releasing that song and failing to capitalize off of it.

Saigon says a woman was behind Jay’s lack of musical output, and without her interference, he could have been one of the biggest conscious rappers out.

“I know he wasn’t ignorant but I don’t know where Jay Electronica was gonna go because I don’t think he put out enough music,” said the “Yardfather.”

“But if that was his path, I think yeah, Jay Electronica had a huge buzz. He had a huge buzz. Then his buzz got deterred somehow by a rich woman with a lot of money who supposedly took him off his path,” he continued. “That’s the story of a lot of people, because it was like everybody was anticipating him and then the next thing we know he’s dealing with a rich white woman, and then we never hear from him again.”

Of course, Saigon is talking about Jay Elec’s girlfriend Kate Rothschild, who reportedly left her husband, Ben Goldsmith, for the rapper about two years ago. The couple set off a major scandal in the British press, which quickly leaked over to the States and became a big news story here as well.

In addition, Saigon said he has a lot of love for Jay, but he shot a few harsh words at Nicki Minaj. He respects the lovely lyricist, but thinks she shouldn’t be associated with the Barbie brand since her lyrics aren’t for children.

“Me and Jay’s cool,” Saigon explained. “I f— with Jay Electronica. He’s a f—ing gifted lyricist, and he had that energy that you need coming in as a new artist. I want to hear the music. I’m anticipating his album just like it was my own.

And as far as the Queen Barb. “I don’t blame an artist like Nicki Minaj, but it just confuses me why a lot of her lyrics are x-rated, meanwhile, they market her with Barbie,” Saigon added. “I got a 5-year-old daughter who loves Barbie. Then they use Barbie to market Nicki Minaj and Nicki Minaj is, not to bash, I don’t even want to finish that because it looks like I’m bashing.”

Do you agree with Saigon’s opinion? Let us know in the comments below.

10 Rappers (Not Named Kendrick Lamar) Who Could Drop Classic Albums This Year

Mike Coppola, Getty Images

2013 was a great year for hip-hop albums and with strong releases like YG’s ‘My Krazy Life,’ and Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s ‘Piñata,’ 2014 is looking good too. Still we await a game-changing release on the level of Kendrick Lamar‘s 2012 album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city.’ While K. Dot’s 2013 guest verse on Big Sean’s ‘Control’ ruffled rappers’ feathers, and inspired (way too many) response records, it’s the critically-acclaimed ‘good kid …’ that cemented his place among rap’s upper echelon.

And now Lamar has to follow what some consider a classic with an album that’s just as good or better (no pressure). He’s announced that his eagerly anticipated sophomore album will drop in September and that got us thinking: Who else could drop a classic this year? Who are we forgetting while we’re so caught up in the world of K. Dot? Sure, Kendrick’s become the favorite for album of the year, but that honor isn’t a foregone conclusion.

There are a few artists we believe could drop a classic LP and possibly outdo rap’s current crown holder in the process. Here are 10 Rappers (Not Named Kendrick Lamar) Who Could Drop Classic Albums This Year.

1

Ab-Soul

'Black Lip Pastor'

James W. Lemke,Getty Images

James W. Lemke,Getty Images

Kendrick and Schoolboy Q may get most of the fanfare, but Ab-Soul has showed that he's capable of creating high quality (and "hiii power") music on the level of his TDE counterparts time and time again. Need proof? Just check out any of his countless guest verses in the last two years and his most recent LP, 'Control System.' With his penchant for unapologetic honesty (see: 'Book of Soul') and conceptual brilliance ('Pineal Gland'), we wouldn't be surprised if Ab delivers a debut that could rival Kendrick's modern-day classic.

Andrew H. Walker

Andrew H. Walker

Twenty years after releasing the debut of all rap debuts, Nas is still among the finest at his craft. While others have lost steam going into their 40s, rap's Langston Hughes has seen a surge in inspiration. If 2013's 'Life Is Good' is arguably his best project since 2001's 'Stillmatic,' he's as hungry as he was in his early days but with the refined approach of a seasoned vet. And while he plans on releasing a new album this year, fans know not to hold our collective breath for another 'Illmatic.' However, we predict that he will continue to raise the bar for wordsmiths whenever said upcoming offering is released.

Rick Kern,Getty Images

To say that Kanye West isn't one of the top artists of the last decade would be asinine. But for some "real hip-hop heads" suggesting that he may have missed the mark with 'Yeezus' would be keeping it real. The album provided a few highlights, but was underwhelming in the eyes of many Ye fans who preferred soul samples to the electronic music influence of Daft Punk.

Mixed reviews aside, by now the world knows you should never doubt Mr. West. We expect nothing less but an inspired return to form for the man who is arguably the most progressive force in hip-hop.

Jay Electronica

'Act II: Patents of Nobility '

Christopher Polk,Getty Images

At the beginning of 2014, if we had told you Jay Electronica could finally drop his unicorn of a project in 'Act II: Patents of Nobility' this year and usurp Kendrick, you may have scoffed at that notion. But then Jay Elect popped up at SXSW 2014 and subsequently got the Internet abuzz with the release of what amounted to a snippet of a track. And according to our unnamed sources, word is that the mysterious lyricist's LP could actually see the light of day in 2014. If that rumor holds true, it would instantly make the Rothschild benefactor's album the most anticipated of the year.

The former ATCQ frontman has been one of the leaders in shaping hip-hop over the last 25 years. A bulletproof catalog under his belt, Q-Tip continues to participate in the culture not for relevancy, but for the joy of creating. A few years removed from signing with the house that Yeezy built, the godfather of bohemian rap has been busy tinkering with his G.O.O.D. debut, 'The Last Zulu.' Known for his plush array of sounds and genre-merging experimentation, judging from the Abstract's track record, we expect to be taken on one of most eclectic, musical rides we've witnessed since Tip's last effort, 2008's superb 'The Renaissance.'

6

Big K.R.I.T.

'Cadillactica'

Rick Kern, Getty Images

The rhyming version of B.B. King, Big K.R.I.T. has been blessing the underground with his soul-stirring rap tunes dating back to his 'K.R.I.T. Wuz Here' tape. So when word got out that he inked a deal with Def Jam, we were ecstatic about the possibilities to say the least. But his debut, 'Live From the Underground,' failed to gain traction in the marketplace and was pegged as a watered down version of the countrified K.R.I.T. we lauded on his previous projects. That said, we may be going out on a limb, but we believe the Mississippi-bred double threat is a rare talent and has all the tools to unexpectedly drop a modern day southern classic.

Kingpin rap saw signs of life last year with Pusha T's G.O.O.D. Music debut, 'My Name Is My Name.' Utilizing the production talents of Kanye, the Clipse star-in-waiting was expected to drop one of the more impressive outings of the year. The album didn't light the Billboard charts on fire, but served as one of the top releases as far as bars are concerned, with a laundry list of quotables and guest appearances from the industry's cream of the crop. With a reunion with longtime collaborators The Neptunes -- tapped as executive producers -- on deck for his sophomore solo, we could very well get the futuristic 2K14 answer to 'OB4CL' if we're lucky.

8

Lupe Fiasco

'Tetsuo & Youth'

Jason Davis,Getty Images

Jason Davis,Getty Images

Despite label beef and controversy, Lupe Fiasco remains in the conversation when discussing elite MCs. A polarizing figure quick to speak his mind on social and political topics, the Chi-Town rep has become a lightning rod of sorts within the hip-hop community. But maybe that's what the game needs more of: an artist not afraid to buck the system and shed light on the topics that are often overlooked or ignored by his peers.

With his last few commercial releases being deemed underwhelming and his rep as one of the elite lyricists in question, we expect Lupe to be motivated by the whispers and rise to the occasion like a handful of legends have (LL Cool J, Nas) before him. An album on the docket for release this year and a growing sense of competition spreading throughout the game, we predict 'Tetsuo & Youth' to be Fiasco's best offering since 'Food & Liquor.'

9

Killer Mike & El-P

'Run the Jewels 2'

Cooper Neill, WireImage

Cooper Neill, WireImage

The Killer Mike and El-P collaborative effort, 'Run the Jewels' was one of the the most acclaimed projects of 2013. Other releases were higher profile, but none rivaled the continuous hype the LP garnered, bringing no holds barred rap and meat-and-potatoes production to the forefront of hip-hop conversations. The two are back in the studio putting the finishing touches on the anticipated sequel after riding high off what should be considered a landmark moment in the odd couple's successful careers.

When you're able to maintain a viable rap career spanning four decades, it should be evident that you're far from a run-of-the-mill rapper. And that Scarface certainly is not. Arguably the greatest rapper to ever come out of the South, a renewed hunger and spiritual growth have rejuvenated the Houston rapper and has him more focused than ever. He recently announced his upcoming album, 'Deeply Rooted,' is slated for release this year -- his first since 2008's 'Emeritus.' Being one of the few artists in the game with multiple classics on their resume, it's not far-fetched to think that Face has enough left in the tank to add another to his catalog.

Air Jordan 1 "Denim"

Air Jordan 1 Denimsneakernews.com

Following the release of the Air Force 1 Denim in February, Nike is giving their popular model, the Air Jordan 1, the denim treatment as well.

The Air Jordan 1 “Denim” is perfect for the summertime with its multicolor eyelets, white midsole and light blue outsole. The shoe also features both the swoosh emblem and the Air Jordan insignia in leather.

The kicks come with an extra pair of red and royal blue-colored laces, which is a good thing because those yellow shoestrings are a no-go with this silhouette (nice try, Nike).

There’s no word on when the Air Jordan 1 “Denim” will hit stores, but in our opinion, this is a cool pickup for the warm weather months.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Officially Married?

Kanye West / Kim KardashianPascal Le Segretain, Getty Images

And the two have now become one. At least that’s what an inside source is telling Life & Style Weekly about Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Apparently the couple have secured a confidential marriage license in California within the past few days, which now makes them officially married.

Last week, The Boombox shared the news that the West and Kardashian could very well be married by this time and it looks like the sources were right. But that doesn’t mean the rapper and his reality star lover have walked down the aisle together yet.

“Kim and Kanye are now married on paper,” said the source. “They got their license in California over the past few days. Kim and North are on their way to NYC now.”

Now when and where the actual ceremony will take place is still a mystery, but according to reports, West and Kardashian have has their eye on some well-know Parisian monuments and venues for a summer 2014 wedding. There’s no confirmation on the location nor word on if they’re officially married. So we’ll just have to wait and see where the pair will say “I do.”

Fans of KimYe are eager to find out the details of their nuptials. Will their big day resemble the size and opulence of Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Humphries or will it be more understated.

Since West and Kardashian are on their way to New York, it’ll be interesting if they make some sort of announcement in the Big Apple.
