Marvin Gaye Family Goes After T.I., Record Labels Over 'Blurred Lines'
It looks like winning a $7.4 million verdict against Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke wasn’t a good enough for Marvin Gaye‘s family. After walking away with a legal victory, the late soul icon’s estate has filed additional motions on Tuesday (Mar. 17) asking a judge to amend the jury’s verdict to include penalties for all parties involved including T.I. and the record labels connected to the hit song “Blurred Lines.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter , the Gaye family is requesting the judge responsible for the case “correct” the jury’s verdict by including “Universal Music, Interscope Records and Star Trak Entertainment to the list of infringers.” The family is also asking that the judge “set aside the jury’s verdict” and hold Tip accountable for his role in the production of the song as well.
Ultimately, the Gaye Estate is making a serious statement: If the artists are going to be punished, those who aided in assisting the production, promotion and sale of the single must also be punished too.
“The issue is important not only because it might represent more money for Gaye’s side, but also because it could influence the judge’s decision about whether to order an injunction pertaining to further distribution of ‘Blurred Lines,’” reports THR.
As the Gaye family looks to have an injunction served, they say it’s not to stop the “exploitation” of the song all together. Instead, they want to negotiate an agreement so that Marvin Gaye can get credited on the song and share the copyright and future royalties from the song.
While Pharrell’ lawyer, Howard King, doesn’t believe an injunction on the music will be granted due to the jury’s original verdict, there’s no telling where this case could end.
Attorneys for T.I. had no comment on the matter.

Drake turned around and gave the violator an ice-cold stare and kept walking. It’s unclear if the grabby fan started mouthing off or not, but the rap star turned around like he was going to approach him.
From there, the Toronto spitter’s crew swooped in and pummeled the guy. The footage is very grainy so it’s hard to see whether they truly assaulted him or not. However, it looks like some kind of physical altercation took place.
According to the Inquisitr, Champagne Papi was flown to Dubai by a royal family to hang out with Mansoor bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, a prince of the United Arab Emirates. He was also there to perform a show on March 14 and he posted a few photos of his trip on Instagram.
“Finally found my long lost brother,” wrote Drake in one of the captions. Based on the dope photos he posted, it’s evident that he had a splendid time.

Nicki Minaj Becomes First Woman to Have Four Songs Simultaneously on Billboard Top 10
Nicki Minaj has just made history. The rap superstar has become the first female to have four songs land in the Top 10 of the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart.
The four tunes that put her in this position include the PinkPrint tracks “Truffle Butter” and “Feeling Myself” (featuring Beyonce), which reached No. 1 and No. 10, respectively, on the tally. The other two are Rae Sremmurd’s “Throw Sum Mo,” which rose from No. 4 to No. 3, and “Only” (featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, & Chris Brown), which dropped from eighth to ninth place but still strong enough to stay in the Top 10.
The only two other artists who have ever reached this feat were, coincidentally, her Young Money partners Drake and Lil Wayne. In addition, Minaj also became the first female artist to chart three Top 10 songs with her as the lead artist. Fellow R&B songbirds Ashanti, Beyonce and Rihanna have all had three tracks simultaneously make the Top 10 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart. However, not all the tracks featured them as the lead artists.
Chart achievements aside, the “Anaconda” rapper just announced the North American dates for her Pinkprint Tour, which kicks off on July 17 in Dallas, Texas. Rae Sremmurd, Meek Mill, Tinashe and Dej Loaf will be joining as support for the tour. You can read the full list of dates here.

Carson Dean, who is a choreographer, actor and singer, is an internet sensation thanks to his now viral “Uptown Funk” dance routine on a treadmill. The clip has garnered over 1.6 million YouTube views in just four days.
In the video, the gymnast-turned-dancer gives his fans his own dance interpretation to the funky, chart-topping hit. Dean performs several acrobatic moves on the treadmill and even moonwalks without missing a beat.
Celebrities, including Ariana Grande, have been looking at the L.A. dancer’s moves for quite some time. Dean is now encouraging his fans to get active and not slow down. He tweeted:

According to US Weekly magazine, Brown wrote in the comments section (which have since been removed), “Thirst trap 101. Continue to be a lady beautiful… U are perfect.” He also showed how much he thought he was just hungry for attention with this comment, “Don’t let the Thot form from anger.”
Perhaps he sees it as throwing more shade since she broke up with him via Twitter on March 4 and said, “Listen. One can only take so much. The best of luck to Chris and his family. No baby drama for me.” The breakup came after news broke that the “New Flame” singer fathered a child with former model Nia Guzman.
Meanwhile, Karrueche will be giving her side of the story and why she broke up with Brown on Iyanla Fix My Life , which premieres on March 28 at 8PM ET on the OWN Network.

'Empire: Original Soundtrack' Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard 200 Chart
Fox’s hit series Empire has been a dominant presence in terms of ratings and headlines, and now that success has translated to the Billboard charts, as well. The show’s Original Soundtrack from Season 1 debuted at the No. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 chart.
According to Billboard , the collection moved over 130,000 copies in its first week of release and serving as more evidence behind the show’s increasing popularity. The soundtrack outpaced releases from music heavyweights such as Madonna’s Rebel Heart and Luke Bryan’s Spring Break …Check It Out, which came in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.
The chart achievement also makes it the first soundtrack from a TV show in five years to grab the top spot since three different Glee soundtracks all debuted at No. 1 throughout 2010.
Featuring music from cast members Jussie Smollett (Jamal Lyon) and Bryshere Grey aka Yazz (Hakeem Lyon), along with appearances by big names such as Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Juicy J, and Estelle – all of whom have made cameos in the show.
