Debra Antney Speaks Out About Cyberbulling With 'No R.I.P.' (@DebraAntey)

On Monday's episode of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, Debra Antney discussed her cyberbulling initiative No R.I.P.

Antney, who lost her youngest son Kayo Redd after he committed suicide in December 2013 says she and her family faced scrutiny after his death.

The acronym, No Reckless Internet Posting aims to prevent media outlets and online users from posting hurtful comments on celebs and fellow peers. Part of the mission for No R.I.P. reads, "When you gossip and spread rumors and recklessly post about people's lives, you are speaking death - killing their spirits, killing their reputations, killing their relationships, killing their hope and so much more. Stop speaking death. No R.I.P."

Master P Loses Custody of Kids for Not Showing Up to Court

While problems within the Miller family have reportedly been pretty bad, it seem things just got worse for No Limit boss Master P. According to TMZ, Percy "Master P" Miller just lost custody of four of his kids because he didn't show up to court.

Sonya Miller was awarded sole custody of the kids and still claims that Master P left her without a dime even though his company No Limit has amassed the rapper a $200 million fortune through music, movies, clothing and more. Master P says he won't enable his wife with money until she becomes sober, claiming she has a drug and drinking problem.

Master P didn't respond to Sonya's legal docs and was requested in court to do so. He was also required to pay Sonya's $75k legal bill, which will now include sanctions for not showing up in court.

Jennifer Hudson Dazzles With 'Neverland' at 2014 Tony Awards

Jennifer Hudson might not be starring in the upcoming ‘Peter Pan’-inspired musical ‘Finding Neverland,’ but that doesn’t mean the show’s producers couldn’t ask her to perform one of the songs, ‘Neverland,’ at the 2014 Tony Awards Sunday night (June 8).

Dressed in a sparkling silver floor-length gown, J-Hud starts the song with the Darling Boys, telling them about the wonders of Peter Pan and the place where you don’t have to grow up. Although she doesn’t have to do much acting, the ensemble around her play their parts well. She does interact with them a bit, especially Peter, but she’s clearly there for her vocals — not her Academy Award-winning acting chops.

While she does an amazing job on this song, it may be the only time we’ll ever see this magic happen. At least we’ll have the video above to take in her sweet melodies all the way to land of the Lost Boys, Captain Hook and Tinker Bell.

Troy Ave Performs 'Your Style' at Pix11 Morning News [VIDEO]

The war of words surrounding Troy Ave as of late has clearly done nothing to slow down the buzz surrounding the 2014 XXL Freshman class member. Fresh off a performance at Hot 97′s Summer Jam, the Brooklyn, N.Y., rapper stopped by Pix11 Morning News to perform his Chase N. Cashe-produced single ‘Your Style’ and answer a few questions.

In his brief conversation with the Pix11 news anchors, Troy Ave explains where his rap name comes from and his feelings on being compared to 50 Cent. Perhaps the biggest revelation is Ave’s announcement that a major remix of ‘Your Style’ will be released soon. “It’s probably gonna be the top remix of the year,” Ave tells Pix11.

Slow of Slowbucks Responds to 'Snitch' Accusations

SlowBucksFacebook

Is Slow of the fashion and rap collective Slowbucks a snitch or is he just protecting his brand?

That’s what many people have been trying to determine ever since he and his lawyer, John P. Bostany, held a press conference last week regarding the now infamous chain snatching — allegedly ordered by 50 Cent — that occurred at Hot 97′s Summer Jam concert in New York City.

Some were surprised the Slowbucks founder hired a civil investigator, and they took the time to air him out on Twitter. “Shoutout the coward @SlowBucks for snitching on the homie, A.K.A. Tio, #MikeyFingers,” tweeted booking agent Mike Lighty. The tweet has since been deleted.

Soon after, Slow hit up Instagram to defend himself and the Slowbucks brand by saying he isn’t a snitch. “I see this snitching s— is getting outta hand,” he wrote.

“Da news conference ya’ll viewed was not about pressing charges or anything like that, it was about brand management. Da brand consultant was explaining da case 2 a panel of P.R., in an attempt 2 try 2 pull some bread out 4 da SlowBucks brand. However, the media will always show ya’ll what they want you 2 see. We not entertaining no police.”

And that wasn’t all Slow said. He also posted a photo with the following words: “Ya’ll n—-s got us f—ed up with this snitch s—,” the photo read. “We come from outside, and we gone be outside. We ain’t never been into that type of s—.”

But here’s the irony with hiring a civil investigator to protect the Slowbucks brand. Many will say Slow damaged his brand more by holding a press conference instead of letting things eventually subside. In hip-hop realms, once you’re branded a snitch, it’s hard to shake that title off. So it’ll be interesting to see if Slow made a wise decision or if he acted in haste. Only time will tell.

Childish Gambino Hints at Collaborative EP With Chance the Rapper

Two of hip-hop’s buzzy newcomers may be joining forces. Childish Gambino hints that he and Chance the Rapper are in the studio working on a new EP together.

Gambino took to Twitter to make the announcement. “now that chance finally released his verse on “worst guys”, maybe he can hurry up and finish the rest of our EP. #hinthint,” he tweeted over the weekend.

Chance performed his lost ‘The Worst Guys’ verse during his set at Governors Ball this weekend in New York City.

So when will this new project see the light of day? There’s no word on a release date just yet but by the looks of Childish Gambino’s tweet, it’s up to Chance to get back in the studio to complete his part.

This wouldn’t be the first time the two have collaborated together. Chance featured Childish on ‘Favorite Song,’ a track on his ‘Acid Rap’ mixtape. And the latter put Chance on his song ‘They Don’t Like Me,’ off his ‘Royalty’ mixtape.

Both rappers have had a busy 2014. Amid battling tonsillitis earlier this year, Chance was named as a 2014 XXL Freshman, collaborating with artists like Justin Bieber. Gambino has been hard at work promoting his ‘Because the Internet’ album via his Deep Web Tour. The actor-rapper openly had issues with his label’s promotion of the project and has stated that he wants to go another route for his next release.

Gravy, Star of 'Notorious,' Arrested for Domestic Violence

Jamal WoolardBryan Bedder, Getty Images

He starred in the movie ‘Notorious,’ playing the Notorious B.I.G., but now he’s starring in his own personal drama. Actor and rapper Jamal “Gravy” Woolard ended up in handcuffs on Saturday (June 7), after his stepson called police to report an act of domestic violence.

According to TMZ, the 15-year-old said, “Dad hit mom,” quickly bringing authorities to their Georgia home. Woolard’s wife allegedly told her son to call the police.

This isn’t Gravy’s first time making national news. In 2006, he was shot at New York’s Hot 97′s radio station after an altercation took place. His music was banned from the station afterwards. And in 2008, he was arrested for allegedly slapping his wife, Trina Younger, but denied the charges.

At this time, Woolard has been charged with simple assault, battery and cruelty to children. Stay tuned for more details.

One of the most sought-after producers in the game right now, DJ Mustard sat down with VladTV to discuss the renaissance of West Coast Hip-Hop. The Cali music man also gives it up to Dr. Dre for leading the way, and gives props to one producer he feels is highly slept on.

Mustard started out praising his West Coast contemporaries who he feels are bringing Cali back to the forefront, including his partner YG, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Casey Veggies, Dom Kennedy, Sage The Gemini, Nipsey Hussle and several others.

He also revealed that while he has yet to work with Dr. Dre, he's known him for a very long time and looks forward to collaborating with him one day.

Mustard went on to call Dr. Dre and Lil Jon the great producers ever. While Dre is an expected choice, some would say Lil Jon is a shocker. However, Mustard insists that the creator of the "crunk" movement isn't to be messed with based on his record.

T-Boz Responds to Rihanna's 'Old Thot' Diss on Twitter (@Rihanna @the)

T-Boz, of legendary girl group TLC, has voiced her opinion about an interview she and fellow group member Chilli did about singers in the industry.

Contrary to what people may think, T-Boz slammed allegations that she and Chilli were referring to Rihanna.

T-Boz tweeted her frustrations on Friday about the rumors and the singer's "Old Thot" jab.

"Last time I checked I didn't say no bodies name the interview lady did sh*t I'm out of the country lol I didn't even see pics," she tweeted.

Marsha Ambrosius Displays Raw Emotion in 'Run' Video

Marsha Ambrosius is known for delivering powerful visuals for her songs. Peep her previous videos for ‘Stronger Than Pride‘ and ‘Far Away‘ for a refresher course. In a new clip for her emotional ballad ‘Run,’ the images are that of several people overcoming their personal struggles.

Ambrosius is at the center of the revolving personalities, who are all dealing with tough moments in their lives. From a teen battling drug addiction to a student dreaming of going to college, life has left them at a standstill.

Although the video doesn’t relate to the heartbreaking song, it’s Ambrosius’ empowering vocals that motivates them to overcome their obstacles.

As for her second album, ‘Friends & Lovers,’ Ambrosius seems to be taking her sweet time with releasing it as there’s no release date set for the project. However, the R&B songbird says she likes to promote her albums organically through word of mouth.

“Everyone is rushing to put out an album. I want to perform the music live for the people,” she told the Boombox. “I want to perform the album and then have people tell friends about it. That’s how it works for me, by word of mouth.”

Don Davis, Legendary Producer, Dies at 75

Don DavisDon Davis

Don Davis, a legendary producer and guitarist, has tragically passed away at the age of 75. Davis, who produced records for Destiny’s Child and JT Money, died from an unknown illness on June 5. He’s survived by his wife and three children.

The Detroit-born musician began his career playing on Motown records, and went on to produce songs for several artists on Stax Records. Initially, he was the frontman for the group the Don Davis Trio, and scored his first hit as a producer on the song ‘Who’s Making Love’ by John Taylor in 1968.

Clearly ahead of his time, Davis spearheaded his own music publishing and record production companies, which were used by famous acts like Aretha Franklin, George Clinton and David Ruffin. And in the mid-’70s he started his own label, Tortoise International, which was distributed by RCA.

And if those accomplishments weren’t enough, the multifaceted artist even started the only African-American owned bank in Michigan 44 years ago.

At this time, there are little details surrounding his death or the illness he had. More information will likely be available in the days and weeks to come.

Air Jordan Retros Get 'Remastered'

Sole Collector

Typically the term “remastering” applies to albums but Jordan Brand is applying the age old practice to their sneakers. Starting in 2015 we will be seeing remastered versions of Nike‘s classics and in the end everybody wins.

The decision to beef up the manufacturing process is an attempt to get the sneakers back to the original quality at the time of their release. So much has changed over the course of the years from tanneries to the volume of shoes being produced that the product itself didn’t so much as suffer but definitely shifted.

The first models you can expect to see are the Air Jordan 4 ‘Columbia’, Air Jordan 7 ‘French Blue’ and a killer new red version of the Air Jordan 10. The colorways for once however are less of a focal point than ever here as the process for manufacturing the sneakers should now reveal a shoe that is as close to the original form as possible.

As of right now they haven’t branded the new process and it feels less about marketing than it does about upping the ante on the quality of the kicks. This will also shift the price of the sneakers up about 10% – 15% depending on the model but everyone from fans to retailers and even Michael Jordan himself is on board with the update.

Expect to see these start hitting shelves in Spring of 2015.

LL Cool J and T.I. Rap Along With Hugh Jackman at 2014 Tony Awards [VIDEO]

A song featuring LL Cool J and T.I. isn’t mind-blowing — even though the two have never collaborated before — but when you throw a Hollywood actor into the mix, heads are bound to turn.

That’s exactly what happened last night (June 8) at the 2014 Tony Awards, as the Golden-era spitter, the self-proclaimed King of the South and Hugh Jackman performed a hip-hop rendition of ‘Rock Island,’ from the Broadway musical ‘The Music Man.’

The actual track was produced by Questlove of the Roots. The trio served verses back and forth, rhyming a few bars each, in the spirit of Run-D.M.C.

Clearly, Jackman was obviously the one who stepped outside of his comfort zone, as he landed his words precisely and maintained perfect breath control during his rhymes.

The performance had everyone in the audience standing on their feet, and based on how smooth the three exchanged verses, it’s clear to see they put in a lot of rehearsal time.

Shortly after the number, folks took to Twitter and shared mixed reactions.

“This was the first time I’ve actually enjoyed The Music Man. Thanks LL Cool J and T.I.,” one person wrote. “LLCool J and T.I. are performing ‘Rock Island’ from ‘The Music Man,’ and I no longer want to be associated with theater. Like at all,” another wrote.

LL said he enjoyed the performance and was thrilled to be part a part of it. “First hip-hop performance on the Tony Awards with Troubleman31 and Hugh Jackman,” he tweeted.

J. Cole Shows Out With a Band and Bas at Governors Ball 2014 [EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS]

J. ColeEmily Tan, The Boombox

J. Cole wasn’t a headliner at Governors Ball on Sunday (June 8), but you couldn’t tell that from the crowds that gathered around the Honda stage that afternoon. Despite the blazing sun overhead and sweltering heat, fans secured their spots to make sure to see the ‘Born Sinner’ rapper in action.

He kicked off his set with ‘Return of Simba’ and the four-piece band and two backup singers supporting him added another element to his show. Not only did this addition round out the sound and make it more powerful, but it also added a bit of a rock quality to his otherwise hip-hop performance. Cole then jumped into ‘Blow Up’ and ‘Land of the Snakes,’ which was followed by a roll call — proving that New York was really in the house and making it a local show.

While he was clearly at home on the stage, J. Cole did admit that he’s never been to Randall’s Island before. “I never even knew this s— existed,” he said.

Nobody’s Perfect,’ ‘Work Out’ and ‘She Knows’ were all included in the set before the Roc Nation rhymer brought out Bas, the first artist signed to Cole’s Dreamville Records, to perform ‘Lit.’ After sharing the stage with Bas, Cole then went on to close out his set with ‘Crooked Smile’ and ‘Power Trip.’

With this role, DaCosta will be making her return to the small screen, as she's had previous roles on "All My Children", "Ugly Betty" and "House," as well as having a supporting role in "Lee Daniels' The Butler."
