While the Houston family has expressed their disappointment in Lifetime producing a Whitney Houston biopic, it seems the network is moving ahead with production anyway, and has selected America's Next Top Model alum Yaya DaCosta to play Houston in the upcoming made-for-TV movie about the Pop/R&B superstar.
With this role, DaCosta will be making her return to the small screen, as she's had previous roles on "All My Children", "Ugly Betty" and "House," as well as having a supporting role in "Lee Daniels' The Butler."
Angela Bassett is set to make her directorial debut with the biopic portraying her friend Houston, whom she co-starred with in the Forest Whitaker directed film "Waiting to Exhale."
The Lifetime biopic is slated for a 2015 debut.
