Jason Derulo and Florida Georgia Line Join Forces to Open CMT Music Awards [VIDEO]

There was a clashing of two worlds right at the opening of the CMT Awards, where Jason Derulo temporarily turned the ceremony into a turn up fest.

After stars ZZ Top performed ‘La Grange,’ Florida Georgia Line took over to perform ‘This Is How We Roll’ to much applause. Derulo caused the most excitement when he jumped from the stage to perform his signature hit, ‘Talk Dirty,’ sans 2 Chainz. Florida Georgia Line even danced along to a routine when the song’s instrumental hook dropped.

Of course, this isn’t Derulo’s first foray into country. He was featured with country star Luke Bryan on the remix of ‘This Is How We Roll.’

Derulo also tweeted his thanks after the performance.

John Legend Teams Up With Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes for 'All of Me' at CMT Awards [VIDEO]

John Legend‘s ‘All of Me’ got off to a slow start when it was released as a single in Aug. 2013. It slowly became one of Legend’s biggest successes, landing him his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That’s more than enough to land him some recognition outside of his genre.

Legend got just that at the CMT Awards. The singer teamed up with country stars Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes for an acoustic rendition of ‘All of Me.’ The crowd started cheering as soon as Legend sang the opening lines.

Nettles joined in to transform the performance into a duet as Hayes did the guitar work.

Keyshia Cole's Family Exposes More Issues on "Family Therapy" (@IamNeffeteria)

Keyshia Cole's mother and several siblings are giving reality TV another go with one more show featuring their often complicated family dynamic. "Family Therapy" will feature mom Frankie, sister Neffe and six other siblings the public haven't yet met through their other shows.

Things will get pretty intense, as they discuss heavy topics such as Frankie's past as a prostitute, one of Cole's siblings being born with cocaine in their system, and all of the kids' various issues with their fathers.

Keyshia herself will have nothing to do with the show, as she recently expressed to Power 105's The Breakfast Club that she doesn't let their "chaos" affect her or her son anymore.

"I have to protect him from that type of chaos. I haven't even spoke to my mom, Frankie, in a minute. They don't have my number. It's just a respect thing for one. Last time I had my mom around I sent her through rehab and I tried to help her and I spent a lot of money...and she just took it way too far, yelling in my house. Luckily my child was asleep. After that I was like, 'Naw.' You gotta make an adult decision to move that out..."

Aubrey O'Day Calls Out D. Woods at Danity Kane Concert (@AubreyODay, @yaGirlDWoods)

Danity Kane originally consisted of 5 members: Aubrey O'Day, Dawn Richard, Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, and Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgette. Today, only Aubrey, Dawn and Shannon are still repping DK, and while on their "No Filter" tour stop in NYC, O'Day had a few things to say about one of their former members.

When Aubrey asked the crowd who DK's biggest haters were, one fan screamed "D. Woods!" which O'Day repeated to the crowd. She followed up with this comment:

"I wanted to give a shout out to all our haters standing at the side of the club everytime we walk in looking all good. You got your screen name on MediaTakeOut trying to call my ass fake. I see you, bitch."

YMCMB songstress and D. Woods' sister Shanell came to her defense on Twitter, saying D. Woods was the only true friend Aubrey had in the group.

Chris Brown May Begin DC Assault Trial Sooner Than Expected

Chris BrownKevork Djansezian, Getty Images

Chris Brown may have just been released from jail earlier this week, but the ‘Loyal’ singer might have to head back to the courtroom sooner than expected.

According to TMZ, the U.S. District Attorney for the District of Columbia filed documents pushing the judge to schedule his trial for June 25. Brown’s original trial date was supposed to be in April, however, it was postponed to June.

While Brown says he didn’t specifically admit that he was guilty of assaulting Parker Adams in October 2013, the prosecutor contends that Brown’s admission that he violated the terms of his parole constituted a confession in the assault case. Because of this, there is a strong push to take him to court in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Brown’s bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, was found guilty of the assault back in April and faces up to six months of jail time and a $1,000 fine.

If the judge agrees with the prosecutor, Brown will be back in the courtroom by the end of June.

Tammy Rivera: Joseline Is Very Insecure With Herself (@MzFlame_86)

Waka Flocka's longtime girlfriend and recent wife Tammy Rivera is calling out fellow Love & Hip Hop castmate Joseline Hernandez, saying the self-proclaimed "Puerto Rican Princess" is deeply insecure.

"I've never been around a person that just sits there in the mirror who just says, 'I'm a bad b***h," Tammy recently told VH1.com. "Who are you trying to convince: me or you? It's just weird to me."

The two attempted to build a friendship, but that soon came crashing down when Hernandez suggested she could teach Tammy how to lock Waka down and get a real ring from the ATL rapper. Tammy didn't take too kindly to the suggestion and it's been tense ever since.

"I would never take no marriage advice from Joseline Hernandez. Who knows [if they're married]? I heard they weren't. I know that their house is rented. I know that that's not theirs," she said before wishing them the best.

G-Unit Remix Drake's '0 to 100′ for 'Real Quick'

G-UnitBen Gabbe, Getty Images

Who would have thought that G-Unit, of all doomed rap groups, would be heating up the summer in 2014? After reuniting at Hot 97′s Summer Jam 2014 and dropping their first track in six years, ‘Nah I’m Talking ‘Bout’ — a remix of Hit-Boy’s ‘Grindin My Whole Life’ — 50 Cent and his goons team up once again to flip Drake’s ’0 to 100′ into ‘Real Quick.’

Fif, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck each spit a verse over Boi-1da’s hard-hitting beat, and they all sound as hungry as they’ve ever been. Banks, especially, as he raps, “This is homicide, more tears in your mama eyes / More reasons to wake up, real n—-s arrive.” New Orleans native Kidd Kidd, who looks to be the unofficial fifth member of the Unit, also gets some bars off.

So, that’s two G-Unit tracks is as many days. We definitely wouldn’t be mad if they continued this trend for the rest of the week. Just think of all the hot beats they could jack right now: T.I.’s ‘All About the Money,’ Nicki Minaj’s ‘Chi-Raq,’ Lil Wayne’s ‘Believe Me’… OK, we’ll stop right there before we get too excited and find ourselves wearing a bulletproof vest and upside down headband.

Beyonce Covers T Magazine

Beyonce T MagazineT Magazine

With Beyonce‘s #WhatIsPretty campaign well under way, it comes as no surprise that she looks her ever-confident self (even with tousled hair) on the new the cover for T, The New York Times Style Magazine.

Dressed in a black leather Louis Vuitton dress with plunging neckline and wearing a stone-encrusted Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace (that costs $206,000), photographer Juergen Teller captures the singer’s carefree side as she models couture. The other photos featured in the article show her in a pair of patent leather pants and a white T-shirt as well as a patterned mini dress and some kicks.

While the images show off Bey’s fun and flirty ways, the article delves into the hard facts on why she is ‘The Woman on Top of the World,’ as the piece is appropriately titled. From the massive impact of her songs on the Billboard charts to how she became the main focus of a recent ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit (remember that elevator fight?), Beyonce is a cultural phenomenon. And that doesn’t just apply to pop culture. She’s also an advocate for various causes and is currently pushing for people to love their body with the #WhatIsPretty campaign.

Beyonce’s T cover story will hit newsstands on June 15.

Exclusive! Charlamagne: Tyler Perry Makes Black Men Look Bad (@cthagod)

Charlamagne sat down with VladTV and bluntly shared his disappointment with Tyler Perry's films, essentially saying they portray African-Americans in a bad light, and more specifically, make black men seem like horrible people.

He points to the fact that many of Perry's films portray well-to-do black men as no good, abusive, crazy characters, and calls films like "Precious," "For Colored Girls...," and Perry's "Temptation" African-American horror movies.

Common Signs Deal With No I.D. and Def Jam

CommonDesiree Navarro, Getty Images

After years of being a free agent, Common has found a new label home owned by a dear friend. The Chicago rhymer has inked a deal with No I.D.‘s imprint Artium Records via Def Jam Records.

This partnership marks a collaborative reunion between Common and No I.D., who have previously worked together on Com’s four stellar albums: ‘Can I Borrow a Dollar’ (1992), ‘Resurrection’ (1994), ‘One Day It’ll All Make Sense’ (1997) and ‘The Dreamer/The Believer’ (2011).

The dynamic duo will now work closely together to release ‘Nobody’s Smiling,’ Common’s 10th solo album. The set’s first single is the powerful sociopolitical track ‘Kingdom‘ featuring Vince Staples. On the song, Com and Staples rap about the violence that’s crippling Chicago and the citizen’s spiritual well-being.

“Common and I have a long history of making great music together,” said No I.D. “His rich legacy and robust talent are perfect additions to the Def Jam family. It’s particularly significant that he’s coming under our roof for his 10th album as a matured artist and cultural ambassador. It’s a tremendous boost for the spirit of Def Jam as well as the world of hip-hop.”

True indeed.

For Common, signing with Atrium/Def Jam has become his full-circle moment in hip-hop.

“I’m honored to team up with No I.D. and be a part of the Artium and Def Jam family,” he said. “Creating this album and signing to Def Jam feels like a new beginning for me. I feel like a new artist because I created this album with the purpose to give back to my city and to the culture of hip hop. Def Jam is part of the foundation of hip hop and being able to work with No I.D. was returning to my foundation now with new energy and new hunger.”

Congratulations to Common. We can’t wait to hear his new album, ‘Nobody’s Smiling.’

Tweens Stab Friend 19 Times Over 'Slender Man' Internet Meme

In Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls are currently being charged with attempted murder after trying to kill their friend at a sleepover in hopes to see the fictional Internet meme Slender Man.

According to CNN, the tweens, Morgan E. Geyser and Anissa E. Weier, planned the attack months before the stabbing after reading up on their Internet obsession. Slender Man is a fictional character from horror sites on the web. The story goes that if a person commits a crime in the name of Slender Man, he will appear.

The girls lured their victim into the woods after the sleepover and stabbed her 19 times. The victim was stabbed in her heart, lungs, and other organs. She was able to crawl out of the woods and gained the attention of a cyclist. She is currently in stable condition.

The tweens say that they feel no remorse for what they did and are glad she lived, but also wanted her to die so they could see their favorite character.

Both girls are being held on $500,000 bail. If convicted, they face over 60 years in prison.

Frankenstein Unbound

In the 90s, Frankenstein came out of Nowhere, Canada to win the hearts of the underground. He was that guy who get rave reviews in Rap Sheet, Vinyl Exchange and the emo Anticon forums all in the same month. He crossed all these borders and then kind of quietly faded away; and you could just tell as a fan that he'd never really unleashed the full fury of his catalog on us. He just hit us off with a few little tastes of what he was capable of, and then left us wondering.

But thankfully Ill Adrenaline Records have unburied his lost creations and are bringing them back to life. This right here is The Ill Laboratory EP, by Frankenstein and AZ, together known as Delphi Oracle. No, not the Nas's famous compatriot from Queens, and not the AZ from Mobstyle either. This is the AZ that, well, pretty much only appeared on Frankenstein's earliest singles. See, because Frankenstein rose up so unexpectedly on the scene, most heads missed out on the first 12" or two, and most people weren't fully up to speed until "Frankenstein's Pain" or "the Pain Remixxx," and just sort of hearing that there had been past bangers like "Peace and Quiet." Consequently, many may still not be aware that his first release was actually as part of the duo Delphi Oracle, where AZ was his partner both on the mic and in production credit.

So this EP - which, at 9 full-length tracks, they could've gotten away with labeling an LP - collects all of the Delphi Oracle material... both tracks off the debut 12", the remix that was the B-side to Frankenstein's first solo 12", and most excitingly, six never before heard unreleased tracks from '93-'94. And it's interesting to note that while they Frankenstein and AZ constantly share the mic and writing credits, only Frankenstein has production credit here, even for the previously released songs. So I guess Frankenstein was always the sole producer, and he was just generous in sharing the credit originally as Delphi Oracle? That's what we're left to assume, and anyway it makes sense as Frankenstein went on to produce on his own making instrumentals similar in style (albeit with a usually darker tone) and quality to what we hear here.

Anyway, the thing to know here is that the unreleased material sounds great. Not only is the sound quality top notch (a thing to check for in the case of unearthed demos like these), but the music is every bit as good as the ones we all know. Like I said, the tone is a bit lighter than his later stuff, but otherwise the production sound and the vocal stylings are right alongside their best work. It's a bit more light-hearted, and Frankenstein trading verses back and forth with AZ only enhances that more fun aspect, compared to Frankenstein's later stuff. Admittedly, lyrically it's not much to write home about; but they're all about just making their verses sound good and fun to listen to, and that they pull off without a hitch. There's even a song ("Sympozium") with a sampled hook as catchy and engaging as "Peace and Quiet."

This is a great release at a great price, and if you copped one of the first 100 copies, you got it pressed on opaque violet vinyl. And it's just the beginning. Ill Adrenaline has also released a CD called The Science of Sound, which compiles all of the material from Frankenstein's various 12" singles over the years, including two of the unreleased tracks from this EP. Handy if you don't already have his past singles, but otherwise Ill Laboratories is the one to pick up between the two. But even that's not all, Ill Adrenaline has also announced plans to release Agony To Ecstasy, Frankenstein's shelved album from the mid 90s. So 2014's shaping up to be a banner year for Frankenstein fans; but even if you only pick up one of his this year, this should probably be it.
