Karrueche Tran Gets Slandered After Throwing Shade at Blue Ivy

Model Karrueche Tran felt the wrath of the Beyhive (aka Beyonce fans) after she made a tasteless joke about Bey and Jay Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy, on the Aug. 25 episode of BET’s ’106 & Park.’

During the program, Tran, who was a guest host, participated in a segment called “top six things Blue Ivy thought about the VMAs.” One of those jokes came at the expense of the little tyke.

“I really did wake up like this because my parents never combed my hair,” Tran said in reference to Blue Ivy’s moment after Beyonce’s fiery performance at the VMAs.

Tran did cringe a bit before laughing and apologizing. “Sorry, Blue! I love you!” she said.

The 26-year-old then went on Twitter to further apologize for her remark. She tweeted:

But it was too late. The Beyhive (aka Beyonce fans) went on the attack and viciously slandered Tran on social media without mercy.

On Tuesday (Aug. 26), BET’s President of Music Programming, Stephen Hill, did apologized on Twitter for the remarks made about Blue Ivy on ’106 & Park.’ Read his tweets below:

Since the brouhaha started, Tran has wisely stayed off social media for most of the day. Reps for Beyonce and Jay Z had no comment on the matter.

Rick Rubin Accepts ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in Epic Fashion [VIDEO]

After being called out by Eminem, legendary producer Rick Rubin performed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in an epic way.

The 51-year-old Def Jam founder did his challenge a little different than others. Rubin, who is a devout Buddhist, personally filled his bathtub with ice and submerged himself under the ice water. And then he began to mediate in the cold bath.

Granted, we don’t know how long he actually stayed in the bath, but this can’t be safe to do for a long period of time because of hypothermia. Miraculously, Rubin rises out of his icy bath with no problems. He then nominates singer Frank Ocean and actors Vincent Gallo and Owen Wilson to do the watery challenge.

While Rubin’s challenge was indeed epic, we still have to give props to rapper Tech N9ne, who had six buckets of ice-cold water dumped on his head. After that, he took a dive in a pool of ice water. Now that’s pretty extreme.

Nevertheless, both men have taken the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to new levels of epicness. And it’s all for a good cause.

adidas Originals Beckenbauer

Caliroots

Fly and flashy aren’t always synonymous. Sometimes keeping is simple can be the quickest way to stand out. Simplicity is clutch when it comes to the adidas Originals Beckenbauer, even in an electric colorway.

This pair features a Collegiate Royal suede upper that is hard to ignore and makes the hits of white gleam even brighter. Trimmed in gold with a Franz Beckenbauer portrait on the tongue this pair is a very fitting tribute to the Munich monolith whose resumé includes coach, manager and former player.

These are surely available in other colors if you want to do the legwork however if Collegiate Royal was love at first sight for you look no further than Caliroots.

DJ Mitsu The Beats – Celebration of Jay

Nice tribute to the G.O.A.T. Jay Dee aka. J Dilla coming all the way from Japan. Here’s what DJ Mitsu The Beats has to say about it:

I can’t remember the first track I listened to, but I started to become aware of his presence with “Slum village / Fantastic Vol. 2”.

He’s been producing classics even before this album, and I’ve listened to numerous tracks including the unreleased ones. But for me, Jay Dee/ J Dilla’s presence is packed into “Slum village / Fantastic Vol.2” and “Welcome 2 Detroit”. I have never been influenced so much by music in my life, and probably never will be. Until then, I strived to create music without being influenced by anyone, but by recognizing him and becoming a captive of his worldview, there was no way to escape his influence. His extremely tight drums were made without relying on quantization, and his use of sine waves for bass and layering filtered samples was incredible. He had a distinctive utilization of space, and seemingly rough but delicate style. There’s no doubt that he laid the foundations for my current style.

I have created tracks for people in the past, but I have never dedicated a whole album for anyone. Even after his passing I greatly respect him as a mentor, and I have longed to dedicate an album for him in order to reflect on my present self. The intension of this album is not to imitate, but to present myself while reflecting on how his influence has helped me to find my own style. This is a dedication of my style to him, which would not have been possible without his influence. I will continue to respect him.

Thank you Jay Dee / Jay Dilla.

Your Old Droog's Identity Revealed in 'Just Rhymin' With Skizz' Video

After months of secrecy, phantom rapper Your Old Droog has revealed his identity. Although we don’t know his real name, we can at least confirm that he’s not Nas — many thought Droog was the Queens-bred rhymer’s alter ego since they sound similar.

In the video for ‘Just Rhymin’ With Skizz,’ Droog displays his lyrical skills while DJ Skizz is on the turntables scratching the DJ Premier-produced beat.

“Ruling the street with an alias, and they lovin it / A dictator, ain’t nobody calling out my government / Even if you ‘know me’ you phony / Catch me on my lonely, I play paranoid like Tony Iommi,” he raps.

In the past couple of months, Droog has taken the Internet by storm with his intriguing wordplay over boom-bap beats. Songs like ‘Sleepers, ‘Free Turkey‘ and the rap ballad ‘On the News‘ show that he’s a true wordsmith with lots of creativity.

Next week, Your Old Droog will prove just how good he is as an MC onstage in New York City. The Coney Island-based rapper will perform live in front of an audience at Webster Hall on Sept. 3. You can cop tickets here.

Hopefully, this event will establish Drogg as a legitimate rapper and possibly secure him a record deal.

In the meantime, you can listen to Your Old Droog’s eponymous EP below.

NBA Player Lance Stephenson Releases 'Hot N—-' Freestyle

Lance StephensonMike Ehrmann, Getty Images

The old adage that rappers want to be ball players and ball players want to be rappers rings true. Shaq, Kobe, Allen Iverson, Chris Webber and a long line of NBA players have tried their hand at rapping to varying degrees of success. You can now add Lance Stephenson to that club.

The current Charlotte Hornets player and former member of the Indiana Pacers produced tons of memes this summer after awkwardly blowing in LeBron James’ ear during the NBA playoffs. Now, Stephenson’s got the Internet’s attention yet again as he jumps on the Bobby Shmurda bandwagon with his own freestyle over the Brooklyn rapper’s breakthrough track ‘Hot N—-.’

Stephenson raps, “I been balling hard since like the 5th grade / Watching A.I. getting 40 with the French braids / Love Indiana, I’ma miss ‘em, good days / Charlotte Hornet, MJ, that’s the new wave / Shorty like the way that I ball out / I been getting money till I fall out / Superman then I tell her crawl out / Shorty like the way that I force out.”

It’s a decent effort by Stephenson, but it’s probably best for this to remain a one-time deal.
