Jay Z to Headline 2014 Global Citizen Festival in New York City
If you’re unable to see him while he’s On the Run with his talented wife Beyonce, you can still catch him this fall. Jay Z will be headlining the third annual Global Citizen Festival in New York City.
The festival, held on Sept. 27, is organized to help fight global poverty. In fact, Global Citizen says it wants to end extreme poverty by 2030.
The event, which will take place in Central Park, will be free, however, those interested in attending will need to secure tickets by earning points by doing something to combat poverty. There’s also the option to use Twitter and tweet a “thank you” to Erna Solberg, the Norwegian Prime Minister whose goal is to lower the amount of child deaths. A third way to get tickets is to sign a petition that would help children around the world be immunized to thwart off fatal diseases.
The Roots will also be playing at the festival, along with No Doubt, Tiesto, Fun and Carrie Underwood. A total of 48,000 tickets will be given away.

Chuck D Receives Apology From Hot 97′s Peter Rosenberg [VIDEO]
“Oh yeah @Rosenbergradio, you owe Mr. Chuck D and apology, and we are gonna see to it that he gets it. Publicly.” Those were the exact words that rapper Jay Electronica tweeted a few days ago, in regards to the verbal spat between Public Enemy frontman Chuck D and Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg.
Jay’s tweet (which has since been deleted) worked because Rosenberg has apologized to the rap legend. In Rosenberg’s remarks, he talks about seeing the movie ‘Do the Right Thing’ as a kid, which of course featured P.E.’s classic cut ‘Fight the Power.’
“Now, that wasn’t the first time that I heard Public Enemy, but it was the first time that Chuck D’s voice truly affected me,” said Rosenberg. “So to think that 25 years later I would have a voice in this culture that some people would actually listen to a little bit is truly a blessing and something I’m very thankful for.”
“To have used that voice in any way to show what was perceived as public disrespect to the great Chuck D is something that I am truly regretful for. Chuck D is one of the main reasons that I’m so passionate about hip-hop in the first place. He’s one of the main reasons that I seek out revolutionary music like Dead Prez or Immortal Technique or Homeboy Sandman.”
In a series of tweets, Chuck responded and said his issue is with Hot 97 as a whole, not Rosenberg, but he accepts the apology anyway.
“I said before @Rosenbergradio [was] never an issue. Never personal,” wrote Chuck D. “But apology accepted. He should now sit in a corner & watch. Get him some popcorn.”
Last month, Chuck D and Rosenberg got into a heated debate over the state of hip-hop after the rapper said stations like Hot 97 are ruining the culture.

The “Atlantic A/O” boat shoe ($95) boasts an aquatic print and clouds design on the upper with a light tan canvas to replicate the sand. On the bottom of the shoe is comes a turquoise ice-sole with the branding of the Extra Butter Clapboard logo etched on the heel stripe.
The “Sound” Striper kicks ($85) represents Extra Butter’s roots in Long Island, N.Y., as well as the surrounding shorelines and beaches.
Decked entirely in canvas, the sneaker comes in a teal color on the toe box, heel and tongue with a light-blue color on the upper (to represent the saltwater ocean). The kicks come with bungee-like laces and a lace-lock for making tying easy while on the go. The Striper’s interior features a custom ocean print, which is a nice touch.
Overall, both shoes are aquatic and fresh for the summer.
Limited to 200 pairs per model, the Extra Butter x Sperry Top-Sider pack are available exclusively at Extra Butter stores in New York. The shoes also come with a special gym bag and matching T-Shirt and tank top (sold separately).

The 44-year-old veteran rhymer has inked a worldwide publishing administration agreement with MLMG for his sixth solo effort, ‘F.I.L.A. — Fly International Luxurious Art.’
So what does that mean? It means that Rae will be collecting more C.R.E.A.M. in the future.
“Raekwon is a rap legend,” says MLMG President Mark Spier. “He’s been a driving force in the genre since the hip-hop explosion of the 90s, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with him.”
