Ciara Goes Topless on 'Jackie' Album Cover

Epic

R&B singer Ciara may be a mom now, but that doesn’t mean she still isn’t deemed sexy. When she revealed the cover art for her new album, Jackie, more than a few folks were intrigued because the stunning beauty happens to be topless on the cover.

With Jackie, her sixth album, around the corner — there’s no release date yet — the Atlanta native is beginning to put her campaign into overdrive. She shared the cover on Twitter earlier today, expressing excitement over the image. “Here It Is! The #Jackie Album Cover! My Favorite Lp Artwork To Date!”

Ciara’s chest-baring move may have made waves throughout social media, but the topless album cover is far from new. Artists such as Janet Jackson (Janet), Lil’ Kim (The Notorious K.I.M.) and Rihanna (Unapologetic), among others, have pulled off the bra-less bosom look in the past — and with much success if we may add.

The “I Bet” singer didn’t stop there, also announcing her upcoming Jackie tour, which kicks off May 3 in Chicago and includes stops in New York, Florida, Texas and California, where the tour ends on May 31 in San Francisco.

The multi-talented entertainer’s to-do list doesn’t stop there, as she’s also currently taping for NBC’s upcoming variety show, I Can Do That, which is set to premier this summer. Be sure to keep an eye out for that as well.

Check out Ciara’s Jackie tour dates below.

Kid Cudi vs. Wale – The Boombox Battle

Kid Cudi WaleThe Boombox

Kid Cudi really has been getting some love from his fans after winning last week’s The Boombox Battle. The rapper earned over 67 percent of the fan vote, beating T-Pain’s “Let Your Hair Down” featuring The-Dream and Vantrease.

Spending more time on movie sets than in studio booths these days, the Cleveland native returns to the mic with his latest single “Love.” Sampling Ratatat’s “Sunblocks,” he laments about loneliness but sounds triumphant by the time he reaches the hook.

“Don’t be so down, come on young homie / You’ll be okay, you’ll find real love / All of the stories the hero gets lonely, now is the time to show all you’re made of,” he delivers in his melodic, rapping tone.

This week, Wale is going to attempt to knock Cudi from the top spot with his new track “The White Shoes,” off his new album, The Album About Nothing, which released today (March 31). While the song centers on his love of sneakers, Wale doesn’t hold back in calling out the sneakerheads for their obsession with trainers. He also addresses the judgment people face for their material possessions. “No matter how good or lavish us n—-s got it / We just a bunch of ravenous addicts living for fancy haberdashery,” he delivers on the outro.

The song also shows off Wale’s singing abilities as he croons on the hook. “Take this good advice / If they’re gonna judge you for life / Say we can’t always be fly / We gon’ be good long as them sneakers white / You’ll be alright / Said you’ll be alright,” he sings.

Who will win this week? Will it be Kid Cudi’s thoughtful tune about wanting some love or will Wale’s critique on consumer culture take the crown? Only you can decide. Go vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember, you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., April 7, at 10AM ET

Game Punches Man During Basketball Game in Los Angeles [VIDEO]

Rapper Game is accused of delivering the fade to a man during a pick-up basketball game in Los Angeles over the weekend. Now a video has popped up showing how it all went down.

The clip, which appeared on TMZ, shows the alleged victim and the Compton rhymer bumping each other during the b-ball game, making the incident look harmless enough.

But sources close to Game said the victim had been elbowing the rapper throughout the game. Then the guy allegedly threatened the “How We Do” rhymer by warning him not to make him go into his gym bag because “I got that thing.”

After that, Game sucker-punches the victim with his Mike Tyson-tattooed right fist. The Documentary 2 creator claims his actions were in self-defense. The victim, meanwhile, alleges that Game threatened to kill him.

Police are still investigating the incident and the victim has yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, Game doesn’t seemed worried that he might get hit with criminal charges. He went on Instagram to show that he’s still flossing and is going about his daily life.

“Take your ass to jail, tired of U bullying people and think you can get away with it get the f— OUTTA here,” wrote one commenter who is upset behind Game’s alleged actions. Another follower wrote, “Cut that n—- a check and he will settle, you already know. [You're] basically paying for all this press you getting.”

Wale Brings Out J. Cole, Meek Mill for Surprise 'The Album About Nothing' Release Show in New York [VIDEO]

The word is out: surprise shows and fly-by-night album drops are the new thing in hip-hop and R&B. First Beyonce, then Drake and now, Wale has made sure to add his name to the list of artists surprisingly popping up in some way, shape or form.

While the album has undergone some serious promotion for months, Wale hit fans in New York City with a last minute show at SOBs nightclub to celebrate the release of his fourth LP, The Album About Nothing, on Monday night (March 30).

With a line that stood around the block for almost an hour, the Washington, D.C.-bred rapper hit the stage just after midnight to honor the only date that matters: “3:31.” Since the crowd was anxious to rock out with the Maybach Music Group rhyme slinger, the DJ wasted no time in bringing him out on the stage. Unfortunately for the DJ, Rap Radar’s Elliot Wilson was slated to do the honors, and Wale wasn’t moving until the hip-hop journalist hit the mic. After minutes of back-and-forth banter about nothing, the go-go-influenced lyricist entered the stage boxing ring style.

With his hair wrapped up, shades on and a coat covering his shoulders, Wale hit the floor in child’s pose form with his hands raised in the air like he knew he was king. And then, the beat dropped. An excited and very passionate Wale opened the show with “Chain Music,” and the only thing the crowd could say was, “Now them broad gon’ follow / Chain so big can’t pop my collar.”

Before the show went on, the rapper let a go-go beat take over the room, informing those in the room that his latest project was going back to his roots. Intoxicated and full of life, the punchline MC went on to perform “Pretty Girls,” “90210″ and “Slight Work” while his crew stood off to the side screaming “Go Wale, go Wale!” But just as fans thought the artist hit his peak, the beat kept rocking and J. Cole popped up. As the two freestyled back and forth, firing shots at one another, they closed out Cole’s set reminiscing about their “freshmen” year. But J. Cole wasn’t the only one brought out to celebrate The Album About Nothing.

With lights out on stage, fans went wild when they realized Meek Mill was hopping around next to his partner in rhyme. When MMG gets together it’s always a party, especially when they make “Intro (Dreams and Nightmares)” a must on the set list. After Meek performed, he didn’t exit stage left, instead, posing for a few photos for Instagram and even took a selfie or two with a fan. With him, it was all about the social media.

After a near two-hour show, Wale and his cohorts brought the night to an end with an elaborate drum roll done by the man of the hour himself. It was actually a show about something brought to fans by pure ambition.

Wale’s new album, The Album About Nothing, hits stores today. To purchase or check it out, head to iTunes here.

Tech N9ne Feels 'Immortal' on 'Special Effects' Album, Compares Himself to Dracula [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

Tim Mosenfelder, Getty Images

With two decades trudging through the murky waters of the music business under his belt, Tech N9ne is primed for the biggest year of his career. His forthcoming album, Special Effects, is projected to be his most ambitious project yet. The rapper is out for blood, literally, which the king of rap’s indie circuit made clear during a recent sit-down at The Boombox office.

“After this album, everybody’s gonna know me,” Tech N9ne tells The Boombox with the utmost confidence when asked what he feels the impact of Special Effects will be. “There’s no way I’m ‘sposed to be on the incline ’bout to be 44 years old this year. There’s no way. I’ve been around so long that I’ve seen rappers make it and plummet.”

The Kansas City native compares his position in the rap game to a being that lives forever. “I feel like I’m Dracula, dude, like, um… Nosferatu, you know. I’ve seen the rise and fall of a lot of y’all, you know what I’m saying. I’m still on the incline and It makes me feel immortal,” he explains. “I’ve seen so much, man, with MCs rising to fame and then plummeting, you know, and yet, we’re still on the incline and there’s still awareness and Tech N9ne’s still growing and growing after all these years.”

Special Effects will be Tech’s 15th studio album, released via his Strange Music record label, which houses artists such as Murs, Krizz Kalico and Rittz, among others. A few of the songs released from the LP include the album’s intro track, “Aw Yeah,” “Dyin’ Flyin’” and the 2 Chainz and B.o.B.-assisted “Hood Go Crazy.”

While the rhymer has been mum on actual details as far as production and guest appearances — he hasn’t even revealed a track list yet — he insists that Special Effects will be a musical experience for the ages and will set him apart from the pack, solidifying his place at the top of the game. There is an interesting rumor that a collaboration with Eminem is also to be included on the album, which should continue to stir up anticipation and add to fans’ intrigue.

In addition to releasing an album, Tech N9ne — who is renowned for his showmanship and high-octane performances — is also gearing up to hit the road for his upcoming Special Effects tour, which will feature appearances from Chris Webby, Krizz Kaliko, Murs, King 810 and ZUSE. The expansive stage show will include various musicians, props and other bells and whistles. The tour kicks off on April 8 in Tulsa, Okla. and hit cities nationwide, including shows in Arizona, California, New York and Texas.

Be sure to check out our upcoming full-length interview in which Tech N9ne talks about his career, life and what the future will bring for him and his Strange Music family.

Special Effects arrives May 4.

Aubrey O'Day and Shannon Bex of Danity Kane Form New Group Dumblonde

Jason Merritt, Getty Images

Dawn Richard isn’t the only former Danity Kane member that’s keeping it moving. Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex are making new music too and they’ve joined together to form Dumblonde. O’day sent a tweet yesterday (March 30) announcing the new group.

“Today begins a new chapter. Thank you for always standing by us. This new project is for u,” she wrote.

The announcement comes several months after Danity Kane had a brawl in the studio. Aubrey released this statement shortly after the group disbanded:

“During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst, when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate,” she wrote in a statement. “Disagreements happen but a war of words and ideas should never end in physical aggression.”

Richards released a statement of her own.

“I am sorry to everyone that this news has to come out,” she wrote. “You’re worth more. Certain choices were made that I am not proud of. However, I will not be disrespected. Once again, I am sorry to the fans as this should have been handled privately, not publicly.”

According to TMZ, Dumblonde will be going the EDM route, not doing R&B or traditional pop, and at this time there’s no word on when a first single will be released.

So if you’re keeping track, Dawn Richards just released a solo album titled Blackheart. Other Danity Kane member, Aundrea Fimbres, quit showbiz to raise a family, which leaves only one final question.
