Lil B Rescued from Apartment Fire by California Teenager

A California teen is being called a hero after a fire broke out in his housing development and he knocked on doors telling people to get out including apartment owner Lil B, himself.

According to the the Contra Costa Times, 15-year-old Mateo Ysmael saw his bedroom wall on fire and took action.

“I just ran and got my stepmom, and told her I thought the place was on fire,” he tells the newspaper. “Then I went and got my little brother and my two sisters. We got out of there quick. Then I pounded my neighbor’s door.”

And one of those neighbors happened to be The Based God, himself, who didn’t see the blaze, and had no idea he was in danger. “I’m grateful to be alive,” he said. “If that kid didn’t come knocking on my door…I’ve got to thank the Contra Costa Fire folks for doing such an amazing job keeping it contained. They were extraordinary.”

Thankfully, not too much of the 25-year-old rapper’s personal belongings were harmed, although he did lose some clothes and music in the fire.

Afterwards, he reiterated that he was happy to leave his home unscathed and he wasn’t upset about losing his valuables at all.

“It could’ve been so much worse than it was,” he stated. “Like I said, I’m grateful to be alive.”

We are also grateful too. And props to Mateo Ysmael for his quick actions. He’s a hero in our books.

If you think Amber Rose is crying in her pillow after separating from Wiz Khalifa — think again. The 31-year-old model went on Instagram today (Jan. 17) to show how happy she is living the single life.

The bodacious vixen posted jaw-dropping photos of herself wearing a monokini that barely covered up her most precious assets.

The bikini leaves little to the imagination as it reveals all of her tattoos and then some. In addition, Rose is wearing bedazzled stiletto heels, a gold body chain and hugh sunglasses.

In the photo captions, Rose writes, “Fleekin,” “MILFIN,” “Slayin” and “Stifler’s Mom.” To all those we say, yes, yes, yes and more yes.

Apparently, the photos were taken in Miami as Rose and her her gal pal, Blac Chyna, are hosting an event at Dream nightclub. These pictures clearly contradicts reports that Rose is still pining for her soon-to-be ex-husband.

According to Madame Noire, when a fan wrote that Rose should give the marriage one more try, she responded, “I want to.”

But seriously, after Wizzy got caught in a reported sex tape scandal with Playboy model Carla Howe, it’s clear that their relationship is pretty much kaputs.

Overall, Rose’s new pics show that Khalifa had a real serious lapse in judgement when he cheated on her last year.

Check out the sizzling hot photos below.

Your Old Droog Delivers an Ode to Hustling in 'Get That Paper'

Your Old DroogYour Old Droog Your Old Droog went from possible Nas doppelganger to a promising rhymer with a sense of humor. The Brooklyn-based rapper released his ode to hustling called ‘Get That Paper.’

The new joint is a remix of the Beastie Boys’ classic 1992 song, ‘Pass The Mic.’ Instead of the trio’s deft interplay, we get a series of Droog’s witticisms related to getting money every morning and that nice cup of coffee. Like many critics, the rapper also has grievances with today’s slang.

“You know guap / As in green as in guacamole / I don’t know why they started saying guap, should’ve been stopped,” he muses.

In addition to the song, the ‘Nutty Bars’ rhymer also used a New York Times review of his Webster Hall show as the artwork.

Your Old Droog released his debut album last year, but there should be more music coming from him in these next couple of months. It’s good to see that he is staying on his grind.

Frank Ocean Covers Aaliyah Song on the Beautiful 'You Are Luhh'

Frank OceanLarry Busacca, Getty Images

There’s no doubt that Frank Ocean fans are thirsting for new music from the crooner. Although his next album doesn’t have a definitive release date, the Grammy-winning singer has tied them over with a beautiful Aaliyah cover titled ‘You Are Luhh.’

Crooning over the late songbird’s ‘At Your Best (You Are Love),’ which is a cover of the Isley Brothers’ 1975 tune of the same name, Ocean performed a phenomenal rendition of the song.

“When I feel what I feel, sometimes it’s hard to tell you so / You may not be in the mood to learn, what you think you know / There are times when I find you wanna keep yourself on me / When I don’t have the strength I’m just a mirror of what I see,” he sings in his perfect falsetto.

Besides teasing a song called ‘Memrise’ a couple of months ago, Ocean has been pretty quiet on the music front. Recently, he posted a photo of himself and Lil B in the studio on his Instagram account, so it seems like he’s busy working on his next project.

In the meantime, check out this very impressive cover below, and let us know if you’re feeling it or not.

Top Five Songs From The Roots' 'Do You Want More?!!!??!' LP

The Roots Do You Want MoreDGC / Geffen Records The average American would probably associate The Roots as the house band on the ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ but to rap fans, the Philadelphia group is one of the greatest bands in hip-hop history.

The Illadelph bunch are known for their live instrumentation and jazz-inspired sound. Throughout their career, the group have undergone various changes to their official lineup, but the two most familiar faces have always been drummer Questlove and lyricist Black Thought.

Founding the group together while students at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, they would eventually add additional members to the mix, including rapper Malik B., beat-boxer Rhazel, and musicians Leonard “Hub” Hubbard and Josh Abrams.

Releasing their first album, 1993′s ‘Organix,’ independently, the group gained enough buzz through their enthralling live performances and word of mouth, to eventually ink a recording deal with DGC/Geffen Records. On Jan. 17, 1995, the group released their first major-label debut effort, ‘Do You Want More?!!!??!.’

Although a modest success in terms of record sales, the album became a hit on the underground circuit, piquing the interests of rap purists for Black Thoughts’ elite lyrical ability and the bohemian sect gravitating toward the crew’s homegrown sound.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of their landmark album and we decided to dissect the five best tracks from this beloved recording. Give the drummer some.

1

'What Goes On, Pt. 7'

Featuring Elo

Black Thought goes on a lyrical rampage on 'What Goes On, Pt. 7' with two heat-seeking verses. "N----s cannot see me, cannot be me / Or capture the metaphoric phrase blasted on stage when I tour / I am but a messenger born to blow up / My n----s knew it all the time, lyrically I was a dime / By the age of nine," raps the lowkey MC on his first verse. Fellow rapper Elo also makes an appearance delivering a brief eight-bar couplet.

Following a quick intro, 'Do You Want More?!!!??!' kicks off with the opening track, 'Proceed.' The second single released from the album, the song features Thought and Malik B waxing poetic about their superb skills over live production. The end result is quite enticing to say the least. The Philly MC is in cruise control throughout this performance, dropping two solid verses that, while far from his best, are more than serviceable and gets the job done. Handling closing duties is the ever-steady Malik B who is on-point as usual. "I could make a hundred yard line start to dash / I could make a whole lake of fish start to splash / I could make Conan and the titans clash / and I could make Metallica and Guns N Roses thrash," he raps, utilizing a smooth as silk flow. Both rappers "proceed to rock the mic" in a fashion that any rapper worth his salt would be proud of.

The Roots turn it up a notch on 'I Can Remain Calm.' Backed by Questlove on the drums and groovy keys, Thought comes correct on this number, spitting "Style remain but for jerks that erk / come out my humble, go bezerk and make you swallow your smirk / I splurge most to bash, capacitate mass / I fascinate as I assassinate a sole task." Lyrically bombing all throughout the track, Thought is in his zone on this outing, dropping a litany of witty quips while remaining cool as the other side of the pillow.

Released as the first single, 'Distortion To Static' is four minutes of some of the best rhyming you will ever hear. Opening with "Yo, I'm every MC, it's all in me / That's the way it is, where you gotta be / Indeed, as I distort, I proceed in need / getting hotter than sacks of boom in my room at the Ramada," Thought then goes for broke for 36 bars straight. Malik B joins in for an impressive verse as well. "Mellow, my culture, rythymatic vulture / Approach ya with magnetics, yo, that's ultra / I make MCs dangle like the bangle, strangle from every angle / My lingo jingles and it dangles under Kangols," he raps. From the barrage of dope lyrics to the murky soundscape, 'Distortion To Static' serves as a tasty slice of boom-bap heaven with all of the fixings.

The album reaches its pinnacle with the superb track, 'Mellow My Man.' Powered by live keys, drums and horns, Thought and Malik share mic duties over jazzy productions. Thought spits, "La-di-da-di, who likes to party / like Slick Rick the Ruler, I'm cooler than a ice brick / got soul like those afro picks with the black fist / and leave a crowd dropping like John the Baptist." Malik shines especially on the closing verse with notable lyrics like, "Change my name to Saran Reynolds then I wrap 'em / Negro's know that [Malik] B be thorough to my borough, cause my ass is so thorough / like Levert, Gerald, too strong, too sterile." 'Mellow My Man' sees The Roots hitting on all cylinders and is a minor glimpse of the progression the group would make over the years. This is classic hip-hop at its finest.

Rae Sremmurd Flex on ESPN's 'Highly Questionable' Show [VIDEO]

Hot rap duo Rae Sremmurd likes to flex, doesn’t have a type and shines on their ex-girlfriends. They also like clowning around, so the tandem had plenty of fun during their appearance on ESPN’s ‘Highly Questionable’ talk show.

This is the same show ‘Wheel of Fortune’ host Pat Sajack rapped the lyrics of ‘No Type’ — a moment when Rae Sremmurd realized they made it.

There was some dancing and some reminiscing on good times, like when Rae Sremmurd got everybody kicked out of an Art Basel party because they could not stop jumping on the bar.

The talk wasn’t completely fun and games, though. The duo spoke about the period they spent homeless.

“We was living in this abandoned house, and we wasn’t going to be sad in that abandoned house because that’s just going to make worst worse,” recalls Slim Jimmy.

Despite the circumstance, the duo remembers throwing parties that attracted many. It kept them positive before they eventually blew up.

“It’s because, like, you know where you’re going to be, so you’re staying positive,” Swae Lee says.

Rae Sremmurd also shouted out Chris Paul, talked about conversing with women and even taught the hosts how to do the whip dance.

Tyga Prepping New MTV Reality Show

Is Tyga heading for the small screen? Word is that the rapper is shooting a new reality show for MTV starring himself and his famous friends.

According to TMZ, Tyga is shooting a show about his over-the-top life and his crew will be the focus, similar to the MTV show, ‘Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.’ Expect to see some famous faces including Tyga’s ‘Fan of a Fan’ collaborator Chris Brown, who has apparently show footage for the show.

One part of Tyga’s life that may sadly be off limits is his famous love life. The gossip website claims that Tyga’s baby mama, Blac Chyna, and his rumored underage girlfriend Kylie Jenner are not going to be on the show.

Ironically, both Chyna and Kylie have already appeared on a reality show together. Chyna made a few appearances on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ being featured as Kim Kardashian’s friend.

The Dream to Release 'Crown' and 'Jewel' EPs This Year

The-DreamJason Merritt, Getty Images

For those of you waiting for some new material from The-Dream, well, your dreams have now been fulfilled. The singer-songwriter is prepping two new EPs, titled ‘Crown’ and ‘Jewel,’ and both are due out this year.

The first offering, ‘Crown,’ which boasts The-Dream’s latest single ‘That’s My S—,’ is slated to hit stores on March 31. The follow-up EP, ‘Jewel,’ will arrive later.

The Radio Killah reunited with his longtime collaborator Christopher “Tricky” Stewart for both of the projects. Apparently the two EPs are just appetizers before the main course — a new full-length album. The ‘Falsetto’ singer’s last album was ‘IV Play,’ which dropped in 2013.

The-Dream says the EPs show two different sides of his musical style.

“‘Crown’ is more modern R&B, and ‘Jewel’ will be more what you might think of as my songwriter side, the songs I might have given to other artists before,” he explains. “If you put me in a box, ‘Jewel’ is more what you get when that box is open. But I’m not limited by any box I’ve been put in — every year I’m expanding and growing, and it makes for a more interesting plot.”

The-Dream recently shot a video for ‘That’s My S—,’ which you can buy right now on iTunes.
