Jason Collins Ignores Gay Slurs From 'Knucklehead' NBA Player (@JasonCollins34)

With the signing of Jason Collins to the Brooklyn Nets as the first openly gay player, Collins says he has been the target of gay slander.

According to the Daily News, Collins says he was tried during his first month with the Brooklyn Nets by an opposing player who he labels a 'knucklehead.'

"One player, one knucklehead from another team," Collins said. "He's a knucklehead. So I just let it go. Again, that goes back to controlling what you can control. That's how I conduct myself just being professional."

As Collins travels to conservative states like Texas and North Carolina this weekend with his team, he wants to remain positive.

"As an individual, as a person, as a human being, you have a lot of different hats that you wear," he said. "Whether you're an athlete or a human being trying to empower and help others. I'm trying to, again, empower and help others any way that I can."

The basketball player hasn't had any issues with his teammates. Fans have embraced him, with his #98 jersey became the top seller on NBA.com. Collins also believes that his sexuality isn't a distraction, and hopes that other players see that they have nothing to hide.

"This shows that 'distraction' is B.S. That it's about the team, it's about the sport," said Collins. "I hope this shows all players that you can still have your life off the court and not have to hide anything."

Collins signed on for the rest of the season with the Brooklyn Nets last week.

50 Cent Speaks On Relationship With Lloyd Banks (@50Cent @Lloydbanks)

50 Cent hasn't been seen publicly with his G-Unit affiliates for sometime now. The group made up of Young Buck, Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks have all seen minimal success since their heyday in mid 2000's. While his relationships with Young Buck and Tony Yayo are fragile, fans questioned if 50 was still on good terms with Banks.

During his interview for MTV, he explains that Banks wanted his independence and how he treated his friend may have been the cause of it.

"I think he wanted his independence," 50 said. "They're like my little brothers, so sometimes I say things to them that make them feel uncomfortable."

The rapper is referring to Banks' father passing during the time of his sophmore album Rotten Apple in 2006. 50 believes that he was harsh on Banks and told him he should keep pushing after his father's death.

"[Banks'] father passed away and I was like, 'Alright, he passed away, but you can't just go home and stay home.' He went home and just stayed at the house. Ask Kanye, his mother passed away while his record was at a peak point. If he didn't go on tour, he wouldn't be the Kanye you know right now. He worked his way through that situation; the world doesn't stop."

50 also says that there were many other tragedies that occurred while they were touring and believed Banks used it as an excuse.

"We lost...Probably 5 or 6 people got killed while we been on the road prior to him actually behaving that way. We don't stop what we've been doing. To me, it's an excuse."

Do you think he's right?

Nae Nae Dance in the Spotlight Thanks to Mercer Basketball Player

The Nae Nae dance has now reached nationwide popularity thanks to Kevin Canevari, a Mercer Bears basketball player. After his team beat Duke 78-71, in the biggest upset of the NCAA tournament so far, the team celebrated with a victory dance.

Canevari broke out into the dance repeating the steps while his teamed gathered around and cheered him on. The young man’s impressive footwork has now gone viral in all of its GIF-worthy glory.

For the uninitiated, the Nae Nae dance was created by Atlanta rap group We Are Toonz. The dance, which is loosely based on Martin Lawrence’s famous Sheneneh character on ‘Martin,’ has become a national phenomenon among athletes who do the dance after a big win.

It won’t be long before we see the Nae Nae being performed alongside the fox trot on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ It could happen.

Below is a video tutorial on the Nae Nae dance by We Are Toonz.

Drake's OVO Fest Scores $300,000 From Canadian Government

DrakeMike Coppola, Getty Images

Oh, Canada! Drake is causing waves in his native country. The rapper’s annual OVO Fest is reportedly getting $300,000 in government funding, inciting controversy with some fans.

According to Global News, the seemingly wealthy rapper is getting the dough as part of a grant from the Celebrate Ontario program administered by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. This level of funding apparently puts the summer concert on par with the Toronto International Film Festival, the Stratford Festival and Rogers Cup tennis tournament.

The two-day festival goes down Aug. 3 and 4. In its fifth year, OVO Fest will feature Drake and special guests OutKast. Passes for the show run about $124.80 to $347.50, with individual tickets available for $66.50.

Drake has yet to address the backlash about the funding.

D'Angelo Covers Al Green's 'I'm Glad You're Mine' on New Live Album

D'Angelo

We’re still waiting on D’Angelo to follow up his 2000 album ‘Voodoo’ but until then, the singer prepares to release ‘Live at the Jazz Café, London: The Complete Show’ on March 25. One song featured on the live set is D’Angelo’s rendition of Al Green‘s ‘I’m Glad You’re Mine.’

The song was originally performed on Sept. 14, 1995, at the Jazz Café in London. The live album was only released in Japan and five of the tracks (including ‘I’m Glad You’re Mine’) were added for the new re-release.

The singer explains his musical influences in the album’s liner notes per Billboard. “My root is gospel, and I grew up listening to Prince and hip-hop on the radio,” he says. “Jazz came much later. I am like a music historian, and just listen to old music whenever I have time, like vintage jazz. I think that’s where my jazziness is coming from. I love jazz.”

Wale Gets It In With His Boys In a Pair Of Fresh Js

Miguel and Wale Cover Elton John's 'Bennie and the Jets'

Yellow Brick RoadAudiomack

Miguel has teamed up with Wale to rework Elton John’s classic pop song ‘Bennie and the Jets.’ The duo’s cover tune will appear on the “Super Deluxe” reissue of John’s 1973 album, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,’ which drops on March 25.

Unlike the original version, Miguel and Wale’s song is more bass-heavy and John’s catchy piano line is slightly distorted. And, of course, there’s a rap from Folarin.

On the track, Miguel sings about a female artist who is being overwhelmed by the glitz and glamor of the music business.

Meanwhile, Wale recites a cautionary verse about the price of fame in the music biz.

“You believe in luck or religion, babe? / ‘Cause either way, you’re going to need it now,” he raps. “They are going to build you up so they can brake you down / Cry tears of joy so they can see you drown / Chew you up only to spew you out / You’re now the victim of the abusive crowd.”

Miguel and Wale are not the first artists to cover the piano man’s classic tune. Legendary rhymer Biz Markie performed a rendition of it on the ‘Chris Rock Show’ in 2000.

The massive box set of Elton John’s ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ features song covers by pop stars like Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande and Fall Out Boy.

Rihanna's Former Accountant Blasts Singer's Lavish Spending, Financial Irresponsibility

RihannaPierre Suu, Getty Images

Rihanna‘s former accountant is not happy with the singer’s allegations that she lost millions on his watch. After being sued by RiRi, accountant Peter Gounis has filed a response to her lawsuit and blasts the entertainer for her own lavish spending habits.

Gounis claims Rihanna spent millions on shopping sprees and extravagant parties, TMZ reports. He also says that the ‘Diamonds’ creator lost money when she bailed out on a tour to shoot the movie ‘Battleship.’ Contradictory to Rihanna’s allegations, he says he never told her to buy a house that ended up being a money pit.

“Was it really necessary to tell her that if you spend money for things you will end up with the things, and not the money?” he asks.

Rihanna, 26, claims that she was “effectively bankrupt” in 2009, because of the ill financial advice she was given. According to TMZ, the superstar was worth $11 million in the beginning of 2009. She bought a house worth $7 million upon the approval of her accountant. With $2 million left, her expenses doubled by the end of the year.

Gounis wants the lawsuit thrown out.

Nick Gordon Flaunts Gun Collection to Silence Haters on Twitter (@realbkbrown @nickgordon)

It seems that Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon go off on Twitter trolls at least once a week, and the latest backlash included Gordon flossing his collection of firearms, presumably to show the haters that he doesnt play.

Bobbi started it off when she launched into a series of tweets asserting that her and Nick are "built like soldiers," and she will defend herself and her family to the death.

Gordon then got in on the action with several expletive-filled tweets, with several aimed at Bobbi's aunt, Pat Houston. He followed those with several photos of his handguns.

Nike to Celebrate 'Air Max Day'

Nike Air MaxNike, Inc.

Next week, Nike will pay tribute to their top-selling running sneaker the Air Max 1. On Mar. 26, the sneaker giant is celebrating “Air Max Day” in honor of the 27th anniversary of the iconic shoe.

The Air Max 1, which is considered the cousin of the Air Jordans, was a revolutionary sneaker when it was released in March 1987. The Nike air cushioning bubble became the window to the sole and changed how the brand designed its running sneaker.

“If we actually cut away some of the midsole and expose the airbag so you could see it, then people will understand it,” said Tinker Hatfield, who designed the innovative sneaker.

To kick off the festivities, Nike is releasing a limited edition Air Max 1, which comes in its original red/white colorway and boasts a volt color on the midsole, accentuating the visible Nike Air. On the tongue is “3.26″ to mark Air Max Day.

The Air Max 1 “Air Max Day” sneaker drops on March 26 at select Nike Sportswear and Nike.com.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Cover Vogue Magazine

KimYe VogueVogue

After months of speculation, Kanye West and his leading lady Kim Kardashian have landed on the cover of Vogue. Wearing what could be a preview of their wedding attire, the two are featured in the issue as the “#WordsMostTalkedAboutCouple.”

KimYe appear on the cover of Vogue’s April issue in a spread shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. In a behind-the-scenes video, the photoshoot takes fans into the fast life of the glamorous couple, featuring elaborate wedding gowns, tailored suits and private jets. The photos are taken both indoors and outside, seemingly inspired by Ye’s ‘Bound 2′ music video.

The couple’s adorable daughter North also makes several cameos in the shoot.

Magazine covers are nothing new for West and Kardasian, but this is a particularly celebratory moment. It has been reported for quite some time that Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour was not a fan of the reality TV show darling and was thwarting her attempts at landing the coveted cover. The rapper was apparently “begging” Wintour to give his girl the cover. Looks like it paid off.

Lauryn Hill in Tax Trouble Again?

Lauryn HillTheo Wargo, Getty Images

This is beginning to sound like a broken record. It appears that Lauryn Hill is having tax problems again. The ex-Fugees member was recently hit with several liens from the Internal Revenue Service.

According to RadarOnline.com, L-Boogie owes Uncle Sam nearly $867,000 in taxes.

The IRS claims in documents filed on Jan. 16 that Hill owes $422,008.26 for 2005; $19,838.75 for 2006; $61,158.50 for 2007; $58,405.71 for 2008; $30,370.91 for 2009, $13,247.73 for 2010 and $261,838.19 for 2011.

Hill’s list of delinquent tax bills has given us a sense of deja vu. If you remember last year, the ‘Lost Ones’ rapper owed the government nearly the same amount. In that case, Ms. Hill was sentenced to three months in prison on tax evasion charges.

Since her release, Hill has performed a string of shows to help her get back on her feet financially. But it appears that the 38-year-old artist is back to square one.

Hopefully, Hill will be able to rectify the situation and keep the taxman out of her pockets.

Keyshia Cole Confirms Split With Husband Daniel Gibson

For months, Keyshia Cole has been trying to keep quiet about what is happening with her marriage to NBA player Daniel “Boobie” Gibson after rumors began circulating about his infidelity. However, the singer is setting the record straight about her personal life.

The ‘Next Time (Won’t Give My Heart Away)’ singer sat down with Power 105.1′s ‘The Breakfast Club’ Thursday (March 20) to talk about her new album, which arrives in August, and essentially what the status is with her relationship. When asked if she and Boobie are getting a divorced, she didn’t give a direct response.

“I just want to put my music out and just sit in my own craziness,” she begins. “You know what I’m saying. And chill out for a minute. I don’t even know what I want to do right now. I don’t really want to talk about it. You know what I mean? [Or] even go into it.”

But the West Coast native does reveal that she’ll delve into her relationship issues on the forthcoming LP.

Host Charlamagne tha God sheds light on the fact that fans want to see her angry so she’ll make better music. “That’s cool, too,” Keyshia says with a laugh. “It’s a business, and I don’t take none of it personal. It’s up to me as a human being as a person, as a mother to get my stuff right personally. But as far as out in the open, in the media, publicly, I’m good. People can say or think whatever.”

Despite trying to avoid drama, she gets confronted with her Twitter feuds with strippers that have been linked to Boobie. Keyshia admits she was also venting a lot on the social media network.

“Well, I have feelings,” she defends herself. “Sometimes I need to put my phone down, you know. I need to chill out because I really don’t want to go into it, but I be chillin’. I’m chillin’.”

And when asked how hard it is to put on a straight face while the rumors are circulating, she responds, “It can be stressful. But you know, I’ve grown a lot. I’m 30 years old. [It] ain’t the same way I used to do like take my anger out and just go ahead and just approach you or do something about it. That ain’t the way I do it no more. I’m a mother. And whatever I do from here on out, I want my son to be proud of, regardless of what it is.”

She also admits that she and Boobie “co-parent” and even gives him props on being a good dad to their son. “He’s a great father,” she admits. “8:30 he come take DJ [their son] to school every morning, and I pick him up. We good, you know.”

‘The Breakfast Club’ does point out that even though they are no longer together, Boobie still stands up for her, especially with the beef she has with Charlamagne tha God. “Well, you know he should be doing that,” she explains. “Like I said, nobody should take anything that Charlamagne says personal. He’s just doing his job. But when you take it that step further, I got my son, and it seemed a little extra.”

Rita Ora Talks Prince and Macklemore Collaborations on New Album

RIta OraPaper

Rita Ora is pulling out the big guns for her new album. The British beauty has been hard at work on the follow-up to her 2012 debut LP and promises some heavy hitters including Prince and Macklemore.

“The people on this album are just so cool,” she says in an interview with Paper magazine. “We have this amazing song ‘Young Dreamer’ with Macklemore and it’s so cool. It’s for the kids, and it’s liberating and so fun.”

The songstress also reveals that she collaborated with the Purple One. “I did some stuff with Prince,” Ora shares. “When asked to expound on working with Prince, the 23-year-old says, “Yeah, we did a few tracks together. I flew to Minneapolis and went to Paisley Park, which is like his iconic studios and we just made music. I was there for a week. It was the best thing I have ever done in my life.”

Ora also gushes about Prince’s musical genius and his work process. “He plays like 50 instruments so you could do anything and he’ll fix it. He has an answer for everything,” she explains. “He’s a genius. When we connected I basically got a call from my management saying, ‘Prince would love to speak to Rita.’ And I was like, ‘Wait, like the actual Prince? The Prince of Wales?’ But I went that night and met him and we listened to music and it was amazing.”

The ‘R.I.P.’ chanteuse covers Paper for their ’46 Beautiful People’ issue. Her new LP will serve as the follow-up to her 2012 project ‘Ora,’ which featured songs like ‘How We Do (Party),’ ‘Shine Ya Light’ and ‘Radioactive.’
