Oh, Canada! Drake is causing waves in his native country. The rapper’s annual OVO Fest is reportedly getting $300,000 in government funding, inciting controversy with some fans.
According to Global News, the seemingly wealthy rapper is getting the dough as part of a grant from the Celebrate Ontario program administered by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. This level of funding apparently puts the summer concert on par with the Toronto International Film Festival, the Stratford Festival and Rogers Cup tennis tournament.
The two-day festival goes down Aug. 3 and 4. In its fifth year, OVO Fest will feature Drake and special guests OutKast. Passes for the show run about $124.80 to $347.50, with individual tickets available for $66.50.
Drake has yet to address the backlash about the funding.
