Damian Marley Delivers Cinematic Visuals For 'Is It Worth It? (Gun Man World)

Hit men are people too. That’s the concept behind Damian Marley‘s song and video ‘Is It Worth It? (Gun Man World).’ The clip stars actor Saai Taghmaoui (‘American Hustle’) plays a contract killer who tries to balance his violent lifestyle with being a family man.

The clip, directed by Nabil Elderkin and Francesco Carrozzini, uses eye-catching colors to make you feel like you’re right in the middle of the drama. Meanwhile, Taghmaoui does a stellar job of playing a cold-blooded killer who also has a tender side, which is evident in the family scenes.

As far as the actual song, Bob Marley’s talented grandson pens incredible lyrics, and delves into subject matter while asking the question: What goes on in the daily life of a gunman besides shooting and killing people?

Damien Marley’s ‘Is It Worth It? (Gun Man World)’ will appear on the album ‘Ghetto Youths International Presents: Set Up Shop, Vol. 2,’ which you can pre-order on iTunes now before it drops on Dec. 23.

New Balance 996 Revlite

Sole Collector

Athletic shoe company New Balance has been taking strides towards stepping into the future with their sneakers and their most recent model feels like it’s merging the old with the new. This latest update feels a bit off-kilter but is still intriguing and has us looking at the New Balance 996 silhouette in a whole new light.

This version of the New Balance 996 Revlite creates an interesting dichotomy by blending a red Sonic Weld toe with a more traditional nubuck off-white outsole. Aside from it creating a really cool visual effect, the Revlite cushioning along with the dual upper gives the sneaker a reduced weight with a heightened durability.

The innovative new look could possibly creep onto other New Balance models but for now they’re setting the standard using the New Balance 996 Revlite. Look for these kicks hitting retailers soon.

Childish Gambino to Star in Series Pilot About Atlanta Rap Scene

Childish GambinoBryan Bedder, Getty Images

The close of 2014 has been eventful for Childish Gambino, as he recently scored two Grammy nominations for his album, ‘Because the Internet,’ and now he’s starring in a television series pilot.

According to Deadline, the potential show is titled ‘Atlanta.’ The proposed series will star the eclectic rhymer as a budding rapper named Earnest “Earn’ Marks who nixed his college pursuits to chase a rap career, shortly after his cousin hits it big as a rapper.

The two cousins also have opposing views about what rap should be, as one believes its more about the money and the other the art. Gambino is also executive producing the pilot along with Dianee MccGunigle and Paul Simms of HBO’s ‘Girls.’

If the show gets picked up, it’ll be on the cable network FX, but no word yet on when the show will officially air.

Veil x Puma Blaze of Glory

Overkill

Puma has teamed up with Veil to create an incredibly spirited version of the sneaker company’s Blaze of Glory model that’s perfect for winter.

The runner’s neoprene upper is given a paint-splatter pattern with a palette that feels as brisk as a winter breeze. Black suede hits the toebox and a cement-colored midsole accents the red linings all over the shoe. The look is finished with the Veil co-branding on the pull tab.

The sneaker is available today (Dec. 13) at select retailers including Overkill in Berlin, which makes them a little harder to obtain for sneakerheads in the U.S. But if you really want them, don’t let a little shipping and handling come between you and your dreams.

Beanie Sigel's Injuries From Shooting Remain Life Threatening (@beaniesigelsp)

Beanie Sigel's injuries from his shooting last Friday remain life threatening, AllHipHop reports.

Beanie Sigel's Gunshot Wounds Remain Life-Threatening, No Arrests

Beanie SigelEthan Miller, Getty Images

Beanie Sigel is still recuperating from gunshot wounds he suffered a week ago and they are still life-threatening, according to reports.

Apparently, Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, was shot in the chest with the bullet exiting his back.

According to NBC 10 News, Beans’ sister-in-law, Kamilah Salahuddin, is a person of interest in the case, however, police have been unable to contact her since the shooting.

Additionally, Salahuddin’s gray-colored Honda Odyssey was seen speeding away from the incident, which took place in Pleasantville, N.J., on Dec. 5. Furthermore, Rick Childress, who was driving, jumped from the vehicle while police gave chase after the shooting, but was later caught and brought in for questioning. He was later released but remains a person of interest.

Police also spoke to Umar Salahuddin, Kamilah’s brother, who was involved in a physical altercation right before the incident, but they’re keeping tight-lipped on what those interviews revealed. Investigators also remain frustrated because people aren’t cooperating.

“The detectives have brought a lot of people in for questioning, but unfortunately no one’s talking,” said Rocky Melendez, Pleasantville Police Capt.

We are sending our prayers to Beanie Sigel and wish him a speedy recovery. Get well, Beans.

Nike KD 7 'The Badd35t'

VILLA

No, Nike doesn’t need to take up a remedial course in English, they are simply having fun with their lexicon on the release of the Nike KD 7 ‘The Badd35t.

The sneaker gets right down to business by keeping things simple with an all-black suede and leather upper. Of course, the KD branding is fully embossed on the tongue and, finally, there’s a sturdy leather strap and a gum outsole to complete the shoe.

The Nike KD 7 ‘The Badd35t’ are in stores now with a price tag of $200, which isn’t bad for a pair this proper. Look out for them at select Nike retailers including VILLA.

Nicki Minaj Gives Fans a Preview of Her 2015 Calendar [PHOTO]

Nicki Minaj has treated fans to an early Christmas present. The Queen Barbz released a couple of photos from her soon-to-be-released 2015 calendar.

The calendar, which will be available in special-edition bundles at her official website, features the voluptuous rapper poses seductively in a bunch of scantily clad shots.

One of the newly released photo finds the ‘Bed of Lies’ rhymer squatting down in an army-green bathing suit holding a rifle, as she gives a come-hither look to the camera. It’s enough to monopolize you’re thinking time for days.

Another eye-catching photo shows the Queen Barbz showing a little patriotism in the sexiest way possible, as she rocks a bright red bikini in front of an American flag and leaning up against a stripper pole.

It’s been a busy week for Minaj as she released the new ‘Only‘ video with Drake and Lil Wayne. Plus, she made an appearance on ESPN’s ‘Sportscenter,’ while making other promotional stops.

Nicki Minaj’s album, ‘The Pinkprint,’ hits stores on Dec. 15. You can also buy the LP, calendar and other promotional items, like hoodies and T-shirts, at her online shop.

Big K.R.I.T. Cherishes Family and Friends in 'Soul Food' Video

In today’s world of technology, social media, and fast paced information, sometimes it’s hard to remember what life is really all about, like family and friends. That’s what Big K.R.I.T. conveys in the visuals for ‘Soul Food,’ featuring Raphael Saadiq, off his latest release ‘Cadillactica.’

There’s a sincere warmth to the video as director Alex Nazari uses shots of a family getting together in the backyard, as everyone is immersed in good food and good times.

There’s also a scene that shows a couple in love, as they walk hand-in-hand towards a tree to carve their initials into it. The whole clip has a nostalgic tone to it and shows life’s simple pleasures.

The former Tony! Toni! Tone! frontman, who sings the hook, is dressed down in a simple button-up shirt and baseball cap as he sits by a window delivering the lyrics.

Overall, the visual is void of the usual things you see in rap videos like bodacious women and exotic cars.

Check out the clip above and let us know what you think of it in the comments below.

Nike Zoom Soldier 8 'Watch The Throne'

Kicks Crew

As a Nike Basketball athlete, Lebron James has established a number of colorways, but the one that seems to have really stuck as of late is the “Watch The Throne” theme. The color scheme has found its way onto a Nike Zoom Soldier 8 to give this underappreciated silhouette quite a boost.

The theme feels subtle but packs a solid one-two punch in the form of gold detailing and a multi-colored geometric print lining. With the glimmering gold swoosh on the ankle strap and the crown logo on the tongue, the rest of the shoe abides by the all black everything code that has been firmly in place for a while now.

The Nike Zoom Soldier line, in general, has a stronger foothold in Asia but that’s simply because Nike has focused the sneaker’s release in that market. As of late, the models have been trickling into the states, so hopefully, the Nike Zoom Soldier 8 ‘Watch The Throne’ will land at a U.S. retailer soon.

J. Cole Clears Up 'Fire Squad' Lyrics, Denies Dissing Eminem [VIDEO]

J. Cole raised eyebrows with his polarizing song ‘Fire Squad,’ where he mentions Justin Timberlake, Iggy Azalea and Eminem in his lyrics about white entertainers dominating hip-hop and other aspects of black music. While many have interpreted the lyrics as a diss, Cole cleared it all up during his interview on Power 105.1′s Angie Martinez Show.

The Roc Nation artist revealed that his rhymes were based on an observation influenced by his interpretation of American capitalism.

“‘J. Cole Disses Eminem and Iggy…’ Why does the headline even exist,” Cole said before he and Angie broke down the dynamics of the click-bait headlines. “It’s not true.”

In fact, according to Cole, Eminem is one of few rappers to make his “idols” list. But after an eye-opening browse to iTunes’ jazz section and discovering “the entire page of iTunes Jazz is 99.7% white people,” he was prompted to put into context on ‘Fire Squad.’

“That has nothing to do with dissing Eminem or dissing any of those people,” he explains. “That part of the verse is an observation, me making an observation of culture right now, what’s happening.”

For Cole, he sees not only music changing but hip-hop changing, in particular.

“I’ll fast forward 20, 30 years from now, and I see hip-hop being completely white,” he said.

Do you share J. Cole’s opinion about hip-hop? Tell us in the comments below.
