Jhene Aiko's 'Souled Out' Wins Album Cover of the Year in 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards

A great album achieves artistic excellence when it has a compelling cover to match. Some of the most stellar projects in hip-hop and R&B over the last year featured visuals that were as striking as the lyrics; Jhene Aiko‘s Souled Out is one of them. The artwork for the singer’s debut LP takes the win for Album Cover of the Year in the 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards.

A look at Souled Out shows Jhene levitating from the sea towards the sky, as if the heavens are welcoming her presence. The ethereal look of the cover supports the singer’s sanguine lyrics featured on the album. From “W.A.Y.S” to “Promises” to “Eternal Sunshine,” Jhene’s airy vocals urge listeners to focus on the “good things.”

Jhene walks away a winner in the category, but she was faced with some creative covers from a slew of artists. FKA twigs’ LP 1 featured the singer as a trippy doll, DJ Premier and Royce da 5’9″ crumbled to pieces in their PRhyme artwork and the Wu-Tang Clan’s A Better Tomorrow showcased a universe in which some of the world’s famous landmarks are situated side-by-side in unity.

Take a look at the percentage breakdown in the Album Cover of the Year category below to see how Jhene Aiko fared compared to the rest.

Nicki Minaj's 'Anaconda' Wins Hip-Hop Video of the Year in 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards

When Nicki Minaj‘s booty-shaking “Anaconda” video broke a Vevo record in 2014, for garnering 19.6 million views in a 24-hour time period, it was clear the rapper had a visual hit on her hands. Now the Queens, N.Y. can pat herself on the back once more for winning Hip-Hop Video of the Year in the 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards.

“Anaconda,” which sits on Nicki’s third album, The Pinkprint, features enough backside to satisfy booty lovers everywhere. The gyrating hips, sexual overtones (that banana gets more play than many dudes will ever receive), workout scene and the rapper’s killer body are just a few of the reasons this visual is adored by men and women alike.

The video went up against Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” Action Bronson’s “Easy Rider,” 2 Chainz’s “Freebase” and A$AP Rocky’s “Multiply,” earning 58 percent of the fans’ vote. A feat like this proves a clip dedicated to derrieres can come out on top.

Nike Kyrie 1 Flytrap

Nike

Kyrie Irving has been officially fast-tracked for sneaker infamy thanks to his Nike Basketball affiliation. With his sneaker being wedged in with Kobe Bryan, LeBron James and Kevin Durant’s monstrous releases, you’d think the Nike Kyrie 1 wouldn’t stand out. However, much to the contrary ,it actually does.

The Nike Kyrie 1 Flytrap is the next colorway that “the swoosh” is peddling. From storyline to tech specs, the Flytrap theme has been perfectly executed, including the sneaker’s emerald green colorway. The quickness of the Venus Flytrap is also portrayed by way of the shoe’s quick responsive grip and lightweight build.

It’s still too soon to proclaim greatness upon the Nike Kyrie 1, but Nike isn’t playing around when it comes to establishing a strong brand for the ball plater. Look for these to release on Feb. 26 and you won’t have to travel any further than Nike.com to cop.

Omarion Debuts 'Post To Be' Video With Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko

Following the sneak peek he released less than 24 hours ago, Omarion debuts the video for “Post To Be” featuring Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko.

The Love & Hip Hop star co-directed the clip, which is comprised of the three singers showcasing their dance moves. The former B2K frontman goes first and flaunts some smooth looking steps around a white Ferrari.

Dressed in black pants, a varsity jacket and a bandanna tied around his head, the 31-year-old singer goes for a more rugged style here.

Breezy keeps it simple in skinny black jeans, a white jacket and beige Timberlands. He also has a pretty short verse in the song, but does a lot with it by using a dope cadence and hitting some nice dance steps.

Aiko adds the perfect feminine touch with her sexy swagger and around-the-way girl outfit. Sporting a striped belly-bearing shirt, the Souled Out creator sings beautifully and shows just why she’s become such a hit around the globe.

Maybach O posted a few teaser clips of the video to build anticipation Monday (Feb. 16). One of the Instagram posts received over 35,000 likes in just 23 hours while the second teaser received over 32,000 likes.

“Post To Be” comes from Omarion’s latest album, Sex Playlist, released in December 2014. The album debuted at No. 49 on the Billboard 200 charts and it sold 16,000 copies in its first week.

Tyga Talks Drake Beef, Denies Dating Kylie Jenner on 'The Breakfast Club' [VIDEO]

Tyga entered the lion’s den of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club Tuesday morning (Feb. 17) to address some of the rumors and beef he’s involved in as of late. The “Ayo” rhymer was eager to answer questions that Angela Yee, Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy put in front of him.

Right off the bat, Tyga was asked about his relationship with Kylie Jenner. The Compton rapper is reportedly dating the 17-year-old model. The rumor was fueled again by Amber Rose‘s recent interview in which she said that Tyga should be ashamed of himself for leaving his ex-fiancee Blacc Chyna for Kylie.

However, Tyga denies that he’s dating Kylie and calls her a genuine human being. “I didn’t leave my family for Kylie, that’s ridiculous,” he said, adding that he separated from Chyna in order for them “to raise an ‘emotionally stable kid.’”

Tyga insists that he’s been friends with the Kardashian family for years. The 25-year-old rapper even revealed that he introduced Kanye West to Kim Kardashian. In the end, Tyga claims he’s not doing anything disrespectful with Kylie. “Like we’re really friends,” he said. “She’s a good person.”

Next, Tyga was grilled about his “light-skinned” war with Drake. If you recall, Drizzy gave him a lyrical slap on his diss song “6PM in New York.” Tyga then replied on Twitter calling Drake a “bitch.”

The “Rack City” MC shrugged off Drake’s verbal attack and doesn’t think the feud is serious.

“My thing is this, if it’s real, it’s real. If it’s not, it’s not,” he said. “I just don’t f— with him as a person because of the experience I had with him personally. I feel like he’s a nice guy on the outside, but he’s not genuine and he plays people left and right. That’s just my opinion.”

There’s also no beef with Nicki Minaj and he “f—s with her 100 percent.” His fallout with Birdman and Cash Money Records was addressed too. He didn’t go into specifics about his trouble with the label, but he believes they owe him money. However, he credits Cash Money and Lil Wayne for putting him in his career.

Props to The Breakfast Club for conducting a tight 16-minute interview with Tyga. Watch it above.

The results are in for The Boombox Fan Choice Awards and your votes pushed some of hip-hop and R&B’s favorites into the winner’s circle.

The Weeknd‘s sensual ode “Often,” produced by Ben Billions, earns two awards: R&B Song of the Year and R&B Video of the Year. August Alsina was close behind him in both categories, losing just 2 percent of the vote for R&B Video and 28 percent for R&B Song.

Alsina walks away a winner for R&B Album of the Year though. His Testimony LP, including fan favorites “FML” and “No Love,” scored a whopping 82 percent of the vote. The singer competed against artists like Trey Songz (Trigga), Chris Brown (X) and Jhene Aiko (Sailed Out), among others.

Aiko lays claim to Album Cover of the Year for her debut effort Sailed Out. The heavenly image of the singer floating from the sea to the sky trumped covers from YG (My Krazy Life), FKA twigs (LP 1) and Ab-Soul (These Days…).

Twitter Reacts to Amber Rose and Khloe Kardashian Beef

Amber Rose Khloe KardashianAlison Buck / Joe Scarnici, Getty Images

Things have been heating up in the social media world this week thanks to Amber Rose and Khloe Kardashian, who have been throwing jabs back and forth at each other.

The rift started Monday (Feb. 16) when Amber commented on the alleged relationship between rapper Tyga and Khloe’s little sister, Kylie Jenner, during an interview on Power 105.1′s The Breakfast Club. She poked fun at Kylie’s age (she’s 17), saying that she should “be in bed by 7PM.” Khloe didn’t take too kindly to Amber’s critique of her younger sibling, defending her and bringing up the fact that Amber has admitted to stripping at the age of 15 in past interviews.

Khloe’s tweets led to a few scathing thoughts from Rose on Twitter. She referred to the Kardashian/Jenner clan as “plastic ass hoe’s” that bully people by using their media connections.

The battle sent Twitter into a frenzy, with everyone giving their own take on the situation and many siding with Amber and deciding to throw Khloe under the bus with an endless stream of tweets, gifs and memes that flooded timelines and have yet to slow down.

Here are the best reactions to Amber and Khloe’s social media battle royal. The results will have you rolling on the floor in laughter.

Packer Shoes has chosen to update an Asics style with a very subtle take on a staple piece of fashion footwear. The New Jersey retailer has put together an ode to the classic suede buck by way of their latest collaboration.

The Asics Gel Lyte III Dirty Buck features a muted grey nubuck runner with a deep red gum outsole and tanned leather elements mixed in as well. Tanned leather tags and a golden stamped liner offset hits of white on the tongue for a properly deconstructed take on the semi-casual shoe.

You can expect to find these on Feb. 28 and it’s almost a no-brainer that Packer Shoes will have them. Based on Lacebag‘s information, it looks like Patta will have a few pairs in stock as well.
