Songs of the Week: Big Sean, Mack Wilds and Action Bronson
The last week in music has been quite an eventful one. Drake unleashed his surprise mixtape, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, earning 535,000 units sold in less than a week, proving a secret release is powerful (just look at Beyonce’s chess move in December of 2013).
Big Sean continued the roll-out for his Dark Sky Paradise album, dropping two new releases of his own and liberating a loose verse on “Used To,” which was intended for Drizzy’s project, but made its way around the blogosphere instead. Dipset pushed out another reunion cut to gear up for their upcoming mixtape, Chance the Rapper released a joint off of his upcoming Surf project and Tyga and Chris Brown came through with new music to drum up anticipation for their Fan of a Fan LP. Juicy J, OG Maco and Gucci Mane all put out mixtapes for the turn-up and the R&B world was blessed with new tunes from August Alsina, Ty Dolla $ign and Ne-Yo.
With all of these happenings, our picks for the latest edition of Songs of the Week were not easy to come by, but we managed to whittle them down to the three tracks that were especially pleasing to our ears. From Sean to Mack Wilds to Action Bronson, check out what this week’s winners have to offer below.

Mack Wilds
Actor turned crooner Mack Wilds comes through right in time for Valentine's Day with the quick-strike number, "Girls Playin' Tricks." Produced by Salaam and paying homage to the Geto Boys classic, "Mind Playing Tricks On Me," Mack sings of mixed emotions concerning a certain love interest. Hopefully "Girls Playin' Tricks" will be enough to hold fans over until Mack's next full length effort, which the streets need like yesterday.

"Win Some, Lose Some
Big Sean Featuring Jhene Aiko
Taking at look at 2015, the saying that third times a charm could very well ring true for Big Sean. His first album, Finally Famous, may have featured a number of hit singles and fared well in the marketplace, but when it comes to solidifying his spot as one of the top young MC's in the game, he has fallen just short of expectations so far.
With that in mind, Sean came into 2015 blazing, dropping one of the years biggest cuts in the Drake and Kanye West assisted single, "Blessed." Continuing on the momentum, he unleashed yet another leak from his upcoming album, titled "Win Some, Lose Some." Featuring singer Jhene Aiko, the tracks sees Sean Don getting introspective, lamenting the precarious position that his fame and success has put him in and dealing with it all.
Be sure to check out Big Sean's upcoming release, Dark Sky Paradise, which is set to drop on the 24th.
Action Bronson has successfully made the transition from random internet rapper to a pretty big deal. Making his bones with a slew of online and indie releases, Bronson is finally ready for prime-time and set to drop his major label debut album, Mr. Wonderful, on March 24.
Although more than a month removed from that date, we were lucky enough to get some new tunes from the bearded brawler, simply titled "Terry." Produced by The ALchemist, this dusty tune showcases Bronson doing what he does best: rapping about any and everything and making it sound dope and coherent like only he can.
And while we love us some Action Bronson, we'll pass on the remix with Pitbull until further notice.
Sneaker of the Week: Nike Air Max 1 V SP Monotone Pack
The Nike Air Max 1 goes full on utilitarian with this latest look that feels somewhat military inspired based on the choice of materials alone. We’ve seen the runner dressed in all types of fabrics but this pair almost feels like a combat boot and that in it self was intriguing enough to warrant the look as our Sneaker of The Week.
Canvas and Hyperfuse play a heavy role in the upper of each tonal colorway and the materials contrast each other well. Both however are durable in their own way and where the fused rubber provides protection from the elements the heavy canvas lets the foot breathe a bit. In place of the tongue tag is a Velcro loop pile Velcro patch to add another layer of texture to each shoe.
If you’re wondering when these clean runners will land at NikeLab sites like Hypebeast have the expected launch set for sometime in March. Be it beige, grey or black any look would be a great addition to your current wardrobe.
Amber Rose Claps Back at Kanye West for His '30 Showers' Remark
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Amber Rose jumped on Twitter and clapped back at her ex-boyfriend Kanye West after he rudely insulted her during his radio interview on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Friday (Feb. 20).
The “Only One” rapper was discussing his past relationships, which included Rose and wife Kim Kardashian. He told The Breakfast Club that he had to take “30 showers” before he could even court Kim. “It’s very hard for a woman to want to be with someone that’s with Amber Rose,” he said.
Understandably, Rose wasn’t happy about ‘Ye’s comments and took to Twitter to set the record straight. After throwing Kim under the bus for her sexual past with Ray J, she gave ‘Ye a piece of her mind.
“After all these years I never snitched on u and I don’t plan on starting now. We once loved each other so I won’t do u like that,” she tweeted. “I’ll leave that up to the Kartrashians to humiliate u when they’re done with u.”
Rose also chastised West for being a bully. “Ppl make mistakes in life trust me I have. But when u bully other ppl and ur not perfect its so f—ed. I own up to every piece of my life,” she wrote.
We don’t expect West to respond on Twitter since he doesn’t use his account often. However, the Kardashian clan are very active on social media so it won’t be a shock if they jump into the discord. Khloe could be the first since she and Rose got into a little tiff earlier this week.
