Meek Mill Released From Prison, Hip-Hop Community Welcomes Him Home
It’s official. Meek Mill is finally home after spending five months in jail for violating parole.
The Maybach Music Group artist would have been in jail until Jan. 11 if the judge did not let him out early today (Dec. 2). Although he’s a free man, his mobility is quite limited. The ‘Levels’ rapper will have to stay in the Philadelphia area and do an undisclosed amount of community service and attend anger management classes. Mill is also forbidden to tour outside of his city until he completes his counseling.
Prior to his incarceration, the MC was set to release his second album, ‘Dreams Worth More Money.’ However, the effort was postponed once he was put behind bars. A new album release date has yet to be announced.
While we wait for him to make a formal announcement about his release and new music, the Philly spitfire shared a few words on Twitter. He tweeted a video of fans doing the Shmoney Dance in celebration of his return home. Meanwhile, fellow rappers from the hip-hop community went on Twitter to welcome home Meek Mill. Nas Travels Through Time in New Hennessy Commercial [VIDEO]
Nas rides through New York City’s history in the latest commercial for Hennessy.
As part of the “Never Stop. Never Settle.” campaign, the rapper reprises his role as a spokesperson and narrates the passage of time while walking through each car of a subway line. From the ’80s all the way to the present (take a look at the newspaper headline detailing the downfall of the economy), Nas witnesses the changes all around him — both good and bad: “the city never sleeps, full of villains and creeps.”
Although the visual is only 60 seconds-long, the actually making of the TV spot was a bit more complex and involved. Between the costumes and prop details to the lighting effects on the simulated subway setup, the team behind the commercial did everything they could to make it look as authentic as possible.
“It was only right that I was born to use mics,” he states before the clip closes out, showcasing the MC standing in the spotlight onstage. True story.

50 Cent's Bank Account Frozen, Still Owes Sleek Audio $17 Million
Back in April, 50 Cent was ordered to pay Sleek Audio $17.2 million in a breach-of-contract case. Well, now the company is seeking to freeze his assets.
According to TMZ, the G-Unit leader is reportedly locked out of his personal accounts until he pays Sleek Audio their multimillion dollar judgment. However, 50 can still make power moves because his business accounts are still available to him.
Meanwhile, Fif’s attorney tells the gossip website that none of his client’s bank accounts are frozen and they are currently appealing Sleek Audio’s judgment. The lawyer claims that the audio company has been “desperately attempting” to freeze any accounts they could find belonging to 50.
But don’t worry, the ‘In da Club’ rapper’s assets are “appropriately protected,” the lawyer confidently stated.
And from the looks of things, 50 isn’t hurting for bread. The rapper recently shared photos on his Instagram page of him posted up next to an white Lamborghini. “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas. Everything new watch me. #SMSaudio,” he writes in the caption.
It must be nice.

Gwen popped up onstage riding on a cute emoji character as the screen behind her filled up with colorful graphics. “Who got the lighter? / Let’s start the fire,” she sings on the high-energy track.
Pharrell arrived with a torch in his hand, serving as more of a hype man while the songstress delivered her lyrics to the crowd. The two played off each other and showed just how their stage chemistry completely works on the stage.

DJ Mustard Sued by Childhood Friend for Unpaid Royalties
DJ Mustard has been having a stellar year. This summer, he had a handful of hits in heavy rotation on radio stations from California to New York, from YG’s ‘My N—-’ to Tinashe’s ‘2 On.’ However, a few other chart-topping songs he created beats for are bringing the producer some serious drama.
According to Mike Free, Mustard’s childhood friend and former business associate, he assisted the DJ in creating Tyga’s 2011 smash ‘Rack City,’ but was given no credit. Free claims he’s being snubbed by the Roc Nation artist and now he wants his royalties, TMZ reports.
In a new lawsuit filed against Mustard, Free claims he actually wrote, composed and recorded the music that ended up becoming ‘Rack City.’ Free also notes he and Mustard made a childhood pact to share all composer and production credits because he had the ideas for tracks and Mustard had the means to sell them.
‘Rack City’ isn’t the only track Free allegedly got stiffed on. He says he wasn’t given credit for his work on a host of other songs including 2 Chainz’s ‘I’m Different,’ Jeremih’s ‘Don’t Tell ‘Em,’ Jamie Foxx’s ‘Party Ain’t a Party’ and most recently Big Sean’s ‘I Don’t F— With You.’

‘Stoicville’ finds the rapper stripped of his signature Auto-Tune vocals to showcase honest rhymes about his life — both past and present. The song will be featured on his upcoming album, ‘Stoicville: The Phoenix,’ which will likely be out in 2015.

Nicki Minaj‘s song ‘Only’ competes against T-Pain in the newest battle. Bringing Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown together on the track, she shuts down any rumors of her sleeping with her labelmates and boss and gives a shoutout to her girls. Each of the guys who lend their talents to ‘Only’ deliver their own unique verses.
“Yo, I never f—ed Wayne, I never f—ed Drake / On my life, man, f—’s sake / If I did I menage with ‘em and let ‘em eat my ass like a cupcake / My man full, he just ate, I don’t duck nobody but tape / Yeah, that was a set up for a punchline on duct tape / Worried ’bout if my butt’s fake / Worry ’bout yall n—-s, us straight,” she spits on her verse.

Before Eminem became one of the best rappers in hip-hop, he was just Slim Shady making noise on the underground rap scene. In 1997, he appeared on Baruch College’s ‘Solo Vibes’ radio show and threw down some crazy freestyles. Over the weekend, audio from that radio appearance surfaced online.
In the two-part video of this rare freestyle session, Eminem spits killer rhymes and flows with fellow underground rhymer A.L. (aka All Lyrics).

Eminem comes in somewhat shy or just cool and I thought [his manager] Paul [Rosenberg] was his bodyguard because he was a big dude. Needless to say, Em killed it with a battle style that was so sharp, besides his flow and delivery, how he spit, what he spit, and how everyone in the room was so impressed. You could hear laughter, oooooo’s and ahhhs after some of his punch lines. All the emcees up there that night killed it and you could feel the energy and how raw it was just on some hip-hop shit.”
Eminem’s freestyle on ‘Solo Vibes’ came one year after the release of his debut album, ‘Infinite,’ which caught the ear of Dr. Dre who signed him to his Aftermath label. A year later, the Detroit spitfire released ‘The Slim Shady LP’ and the rest is hip-hop history.

As part of World AIDS Day on Monday (Dec. 1), some of music’s biggest acts convened in New York to perform a benefit concert for (RED), an organization helping to fight against AIDS. Among the artists was Kanye West, who performed a brief, but energetic set.
Yeezus graced the stage and rocked a nine-minute medley of hits including ‘Power,’ ‘Jesus Walks’ and ‘Black Skinhead.’ “New York City, you are now rockin’ with Yeezus,” ‘Ye announced to the crowd. Yeezy’s show wasn’t without hiccups.
At one point, the mercurial rapper admonished someone named Laura for not cutting a song at the right moment.
“Next song, you’re supposed to cut. We on TV,” he yelled before closing out his set with ‘Touch the Sky.’ Also performing at the concert were Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen. The latter filled in for U2′s Bono, who is still recuperating from a bike accident.

Being the fashionista that she is, Rihanna made sure to do a wardrobe change later onin the evening. She went for a feminine white beaded gown that hugged her curves and a luxurious fur to keep her warm. While the dress looked very dainty and delicate, that didn’t stop her from rubbing elbows with model friends like Naomi Campbell and getting down on the dance floor at the awards show’s after party at the Oscar Wilde Bar in the Hotel Café Royal.
Meanwhile, Rita Ora showed off her toned legs in a thigh-high black number designed by Tom Ford, who was also the singer’s date.
