Izniz Is Back With the Ill Behavior

So, having just gone through the elaborate history of Ghettolandz and The Madness , you might think that was the end of the story. But not quite. Producer Izniz has one more unreleased project getting resurrected: Ill Behavior. Ill Behavior is another group Izniz was a part of/ producer for, and unlike Ghettolandz and The Madness, they never had any records out. But with the interest in his work now generating from those other groups, he's putting Ill Behavior's lost demos out now, too, this time through Heavy Jewelz.

So Ill Behavior is a 3-man group with Izniz and two MCs: Homicide & Zoo Man Crash. Days Of Sin is a vinyl EP of demos recorded in 1994, which means it actually predates all those Ghettolandz and Madness records. This is the earliest and rawest material.

Heavy Jewelz points out how Wu-Tang inspired they are, and that's certainly hard to deny. But they don't sound like another Sunz of Man/ Killarmy spin-off group. They're just another very hardcore east coast indie hip-hop group. I don't see how they couldn't be inspired by 36 Chambers at that time, but they also lean a bit more to the Onyx side with their wild, grimy, sporadic shouting deliveries. But they're thankfully less cartoony than most of those Onyx knock-off types (nobody yells, "Captain Caaaaaaaveman!" although Zoo Man does come dangerously close to a "yabba dabba doo" at one point), and Izniz provides some really gritty but high quality production. Like, "Pushed Up," with banging drums and sparse horn samples and a subtle piano loop... If Onyx had production like that, they would've stayed popular through the late 90s.

Oh, except for the title cut "Days Of Sin." That totally sounds like a Wu spin-off group cut. Certainly the ODB-vocal sample in the background brings it home, but it totally sounds like a Wu-song anyway. The instrumental sounds like classic Wu, and I think they've even subtly shifted their delivery style to be a bit more Wu-like on this one. Oh, and "Assed Out" sounds like Homicide is channeling a little Meth. And that's not a criticism at all, they really capture everything that was great about vintage Wu without any of what bogs down modern Wu.

That includes brevity, which gives this EP a tighter feel. I mean, the three songs on side A combined are less than 10 minutes, and side B isn't much longer. They're in and out pretty fast, leaving you wanting more. If they could've cut Better Tomorrow down to this length, they might've had something there. Just sayin'.

So, like all Heavy Jewelz releases, this is a limited pressing, with 100 copies on white (white) vinyl, 100 on black, and 75 on a black and white split. It comes in a really awesome, black on black embossed cover, with raised letters. It looks very cool in person but unfortunately doesn't scan or photograph that well (look really closely at the picture above, though, and you can spot it). It also has something we rarely see even with these fancier limited runs, an inner sleeve with full, double0-sided artwork. Anybody who sees one of these in person is going to be impressed.

Still, if you're more of a CD/ cassette person, I have to point out that Cross Market has your back. They've released Days of Sin on both formats with an extra, seventh bonus track called "Who Wanna Do What," and it's another banger. Fortunately, Cross Market's prices are quite reasonable, so you could cop the vinyl EP and pick up a CD or cassette on the side just for the bonus track without feeling hard done by. Recommended if you like that raw, early 90's east coast street sound... and who doesn't?

Jamie Foxx and Chris Brown Perform 'You Changed Me' at 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards [VIDEO]

Jamie Foxx wasn’t that great of a host at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards. The jokes were stale and the scriptwriting was pretty generic in every award presentation or monologue that took place during the show. However, the night wasn’t a complete loss for Foxx, though; he did put on a solid performance of “You Changed Me” with Chris Brown.

The actor-turned-singer started off with some piano balladry, showing that his singing pipes were still intact despite sticking with his acting career as of late. The tempo turned up within a few seconds. The crowd was rocking with the fedora-wearing host before a lip-synching Brown kept up the excitement. It was a high point, albeit not near as high as Rihanna coming through in a chopper.

After focusing on acting for the past few years, Foxx is getting ready to release a new album (currently untitled) on May 19.

2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards Red Carpet

The 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards went down on Sunday (March 29) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and as expected, your favorite music stars stepped onto the red carpet in their finest digs.

While it may not feel quite like spring across the country, artists including Chris Brown and Zendaya, among others, embraced the warm California weather and the new season with the latest trend: bright, bold colors.

Both Chris and Zendaya’s stylists were on the same level as the stars showcase bright pink and green looks. Breezy rocked jeans, kicks and a leather jacket with hot pink sleeves and mint green design across the front.

Meanwhile, the Shake It Up Disney starlet shined in her own hot pink and green shoulder-baring cut out number, complete with a black-and-white embellished skirt and radiant pink pumps.

Green was the big color of the evening and even Rihanna took note, showing up onstage in an eye-popping green fur coat and matching thigh-high boots for a performance of her new single, “Bitch Better Have My Money.”

But while some artists opted to rock some of the season’s most vibrant hues, Iggy Azalea, who tied Sam Smith with five nominations apiece at the awards show, kept it fun and sexy in black and white. She looked amazing in summer-inspired attire, sporting a must-have crocheted mesh top, which she paired with black-and-white white pants and black stiletto-heeled sandals.

Snoop Dogg and Charlie Wilson Perform 'Peaches N Cream' at 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards [VIDEO]

Veteran rapper Snoop Dogg has been on the old-school tip as of late, so it only makes sense that he connects with legendary soulster Charlie Wilson for a performance of “Peaches N Cream” at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday (March 29).

The duo’s performance was just as colorful as the gentlemen’s personalities. Snoop, dressed entirely in black and rocking his cool shades, rapped his player-istic rhymes while Wilson sang lush coos behind him. You also got the Egyptian imagery and peaches backing them up on the video screen. In addition, a bodacious dancer was shaking and twisting her body in between them. At one point, we can see Taylor Swift enjoying Snoop’s performance.

“Peaches N Cream” is a new track off Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album Bush, which is entirely produced by Pharrell Williams. Uncle Snoop’s thirteenth album is scheduled to drop on May 12.

Sam Smith Delivers Tender Performance of 'Lay Me Down' at 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards [VIDEO]

Soul crooner Sam Smith won a slew of trophies at the Grammy Awards back in February. The “Stay With Me” singer continues his winning streak at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday (March 29).

Smith took home the trophy for Best New Artist. He wasn’t at the ceremony to personally receive the award, but it wasn’t too huge of a loss. The British singer, who’s now a bit scruffier and slimmer, gave a performance of “Lay Me Down” after his charming acceptance speech. He was just about as tender as you’d expect as he hit the high notes just right while wearing his dapper blue suit.

Overall, it was a great performance and a great consolation prize for fans who may have been disappointed that he didn’t show up to receive his iHeart Award.

Rihanna Debuts 'Bitch Better Have My Money' at 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards [VIDEO]

You want to know why 2015 is much better than last year? Because Rihanna came through in a helicopter wearing a green fur coat at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday (March 29).

Taraji P. Henson introduced RiRi as a boss, and she more than lived up to the billing in her debut performance of “Bitch Betta Have My Money.” It was something like Missy Elliott’s “She’s a Bitch” and The Fugees’ “Ready or Not” in miniature. Rihanna owned the stage with her green fur coat with dancers dressed in all black behind her. There was also that huge helicopter perched onstage.

The performance is prelude though because “Bitch Betta Have My Money” should do some damage on the music charts and clubs once it has time to gain traction on the radio.

Jennifer Hudson and Iggy Azalea Perform 'Trouble' at 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards [VIDEO]

Wanted to see Iggy Azalea invoking “Jailhouse Rock“? Well, the Aussie rapper and Jennifer Hudson recreated a jailhouse scenario for their performance of “Trouble” at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday night (March 29).

The femme fatale duo kicked off the ceremonies with a prison set up complete with male and female dancers dressed as prisoners. Azalea and Hudson pretty much retained the roles they played in the song’s packaging and video. The “Fancy” rapper plays the bad influence while “It’s Your World” singer plays the cop who isn’t too great at her job.

The opening performance was followed by chained up Nick Jonas performing his latest single “Chains” and an awkward “CoCo” joke from the night’s host Jamie Foxx.

Overall, the iHeartRadio Music Awards is off to an exciting start.

Destiny's Child Reunites, Performs "Say Yes" at 2015 Stellar Gospel Music Awards [VIDEO]

After two years without performing together, Destiny’s Child reunited once again for a special performance at the 2015 Stellar Gospel Music Awards in Las Vegas on Saturday (March 28).

The singing trio of Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce graced the stage to sing the inspirational anthem, “Say Yes,” which is from Williams’ latest album, Journey to Freedom.

The R&B trifecta briefly sang a gospel hymn before they erupted into “Say Yes,” which is actually a reflip of the Nigerian gospel song, “When Jesus Say Yes.” The ladies matched perfectly in white with Queen Bey added a little flair with her ripped denim jeans and gold high heels.

DC’s reunion comes more than two years after they performed at the Super Bowl halftime show where they performed “Independent Women: Part 1″ and “Single Ladies.”

“The presence of the Lord was definitely at the Stellar Awards last night! I was so happy to have my sisters Kelly Rowland and Beyonce join me on stage to perform “Say Yes” for an amazing crowd,” Williams writes on Instagram. “I really hope that this performance touches and heals someone. Nothing like old times! The Stellar Awards air next Sunday on TVOne!”

And if their performance wasn’t exciting enough, Williams was also a big winner of the night as well. The songbird took home a trophy for Best Music Video for “Say Yes.”

You will able to catch Destiny’s Child’s stellar performance when TV One airs the 2015 Stellar Gospel Music Awards on April 5 at 8PM ET.
