Houston Mayor Honors Rapper With 'Slim Thug Day' (@slimthugga)

Houston rapper Slim Thug was given a huge gift by his city yesterday (February 25) by making the date into a holiday called 'Slim Thug Day.'

According to Revolt Tv, the holiday came about when Slim sat down with Don Lemon in January to discuss the themes behind the word "thug."

Slim told Lemon that his name prevented him from possible sponsor ships because of the undertones that come with it and that his huge community service efforts will never get him a holiday because of his name. Shortly after the segment, Houston mayor Annise Parker began working on the holiday.

As he celebrated with family and fans yesterday, the rapper gave a special message to children about never giving up on their dreams.

"You can live your dreams if you work hard enough and stay dedicated. Believe in yourself and you can do whatever you want to do."

Trey Songz had some tough love to send to Gucci Mane this week.

The "Nana" singer was stopped by TMZ this week and asked him about Gucci's latest arrest. The former collaborator of the rapper thinks that it's time for Gucci to clean up his act.

"Gucci has been locked up so many times but the next time, he's done for sure," he said. "I love you Gucci, but you can't keep getting locked up, that's not rich ni**a shit."

He also mentioned that Gucci needs to leave the trap world behind him when he returns home. "Rich ni**as don't keep getting locked up, that's trap ni**a shit and you can't be a trap ni**a forever."

On last night's episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim went to see a surgeon about her "wrinkly hands." When she was informed that laser surgery can also reduce stretchmarks, Kim decided to get the procedure done on her breasts.

In the past the reality star has denied plastic surgery on her body, but has admitted to a few botox injections.

During his 'Would You Like A Tour' stop in Paris, Rihanna made a special appearance for their hit "Take Care."

As the two shared serious chemistry on stage, fans were loving it as RiRi did a slew of slow winds in front of the rapper.

Rihanna also performed her hit "Pour It Up" while Drake played her hype man and danced next to her. Shortly after the show, the two headed out to dinner in the City of Love, and headed back to the Hyatt Hotel where Drake was staying.

Teedra Moses Debuts 'All I Ever Wanted'

R&B singer Teedra Moses makes a grand return with a new song that flips Camp Lo’s ‘Luchini’ into a stern women’s anthem called ‘All I Ever Wanted.’

Produced by Thaddeus Dixon, the song uses the horn-sampled beat produced by legendary beatmaker Ski Beatz. Moses tells her inattentive ex-lover that money can buy her heart on the track.

“All I ever wanted was your love / But you give me your money / When I gave you my heart,” she sings, later adding, ‘F— your money, ’cause money can buy my heart.”

‘All I Ever Wanted’ is from Moses’ upcoming EP, ‘Cognac & Conversations.’ The collection is executive produced by Mayback Music Group honcho Rick Ross and singer-songwriter Raphael Saddiq.

“As always, I’m speaking from my heart,” says Moses about the project via VIBE. “I purposely incorporated a ‘90s feel to the sound because it’s what I’m nostalgically drawn to right now. It allows me to relive a time when I was in love and things seemed simpler.”

The 37-year-old artist says the album will cover a myriad of relationship topics that should connect with her fans.

“This project is — as always — driven by the music,” she says. “I intend to comfort the listener with words and melodies that they can relate to their life.”

For those not familiar with the Bronner Brothers Hair Show (check out the fascinating 2009 Chris Rock documentary "Good Hair"), it's an annual event held in Atlanta where hair professionals and students gather to learn about the latest in products and techniques. The most popular attraction, however, has to be the over-the-top hairstyles on display at the four-day event.

Much like a fashion show features couture that's more concept than clothing, the Bronner Brothers convention is full of hair enthusiasts rocking extremely impractical, but super impressive, hairdos.

Jesse Boykins III Dances Up a Storm in 'Plain' Lyric Video

We all know that Jesse Boykins III has some soulful pipes, but he’s also an incredibly nimble dancer as well. In the lyric video for his new single, ‘Plain,’ the singer displays his fancy footwork.

The simple love song, with its melodic keyboards and infectious beat, is from Boykins’ upcoming album ‘Love Apparatus.’

In the video, directed by Harrison Boyce, we see the crooner dancing to the rhythm of the beat in various snowy locations in New York. While he’s doing the jitterbug and ballet moves, typographic lyrics from ‘Plain’ are printed on the left of the screen.

As for his album, the ‘Our Party’ singer describes his sound as “world soul.”

“The concept of world soul, just came from my travels across the globe, but also how I view soul music as a whole,” he told the Grio. “Soul music comes from the heart and it’s honest.”

“It’s all about connecting with your audience,” he adds. “When you’re able to sing about love and culture on a different level, it becomes powerful.”

Jesse Boykins III’s new album, ‘Love Apparatus,’ is schedule to arrive in stores on April 22.

‘Partition,’ one of Beyonce‘s raciest tracks, serves as the third single off her self-titled album. The borderline NSFW video is now available for viewing as well.

The visual showcases a raw and artful portrayal of Beyonce’s sense of sexual freedom, which is an ongoing theme throughout the album. The song’s appeal isn’t only thematic because there’s a lot of eye candy to be seen here.

The Jake Nava-directed effort, shot at the Crazy Horse Parisian cabaret club, features Beyonce performing and showing off all of her best bodily features. She’s still got it, but it’s not long before you realize who “it” is for. Jay Z plays the lone private show attendee in the clip.

Teen Tapes Failed Suicide Attempt After Taking Father's Pills

Facebook user Nala Morrison posted an alarming video online over the weekend after her relationship with her boyfriend went astray.

After moving from New Jersey to Missouri to live with her father, the straight A student says that her relationship with her boyfriend Marquis began to dwindle.

Nala also explains her abusive past, and why she wanted to kill herself for the lack love she receives from her family. On top of her relationship issues, she says being dark skinned has damaged her self esteem. Towards the end of the video, she takes six bottles of her father's pills.

With Nala announcing her boyfriend's number in the video, he found out about the attempt and her father managed to save her in the nick of time.

Her boyfriend Marquis took to his page to announce that Nala survived the suicide attempt and is currently in the hospital. He says that they are still together and he 'loves her very much.'

Kid Cudi's 'Satellite Flight' Hits iTunes in Surprise Release (@ducidni)

Kid Cudi took a page out of the Beyonce playbook and dropped his latest project, "Kid Cudi Presents Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon," on iTunes with very little warning.

The Cleveland rapper gave his fans a little notice a couple of hours before the album's midnight release when he tweeted, "Time to make the world stand still," followed by "1 hour til launch...BOARDING!," and finally "The date says April 29 2014 but that's a glitch. Or is it :) ALBUM AVAILABLE NOW." In the final tweet, Cudi included a link to the album on iTunes.

The album will only be available in its entirety for one week as a full album purchase.

Brand Nubian rapper Lord Jamar explains why he doesn't feel that Macklemore deserved four Grammys, claiming he doesn't know any "real" hip-hop fans that own Macklemore's album. When asked about Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q supporting Macklemore, Lord Jamar says "of course" they support it, because they've collaborated with the Seattle rapper. On the flip side, Jamar says that Eminem deserved his Grammys, because "he came up worshipping black emcees" and "did the study" of the hip-hop culture.

When Vlad brings up meeting Macklemore before the Grammys and speaking to him about Lord Jamar's past interviews, it was revealed that the "Same Love" rapper agrees with Lord Jamar on most points, but added that the Brand Nubian rapper's comments about gays invalidate his other statements. While Jamar doesn't understand Macklemore's statement, he points out that Macklemore is able to convey the same message that he brings in his "White Privilege" song, but Jamar believes that white people take offense when he says it.

Lord Jamar speaks more about the Grammys, specifically the gay marriage ceremony during the awards show, calling it an "opportunistic move." He adds that Macklemore posting his post-Grammys text to Kendrick was "wrong," because it came from "white guilt," not a sincere message.

Kid Cudi Releases 'Satellite Flight' Album Without Warning

Rapper Kid Cudi pulled somewhat of a Beyonce and released his new project ‘Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon’ early Tuesday morning (Feb. 25). Initially, the LP was due in April but the Cudder changed his mind.

The 10-track collection, which is available on iTunes now, features only one guest appearance from singer-songwriter Raphael Saadiq. Much of the music sounds like it was recorded in outer space. There’s lots of eerie synths, computer blips and bombastic orchestral productions (listen to ‘Return of the Moon Man’) on the album.

On the ethereal ‘Too Bad I Have to Destroy You Now,’ Cudi says he’s rejuvenated and is in a positive space (no pun intended).

“Pardon my wizard talk / But I’m elevated / No drink, no trees, I’m levitated / I got my own infirm, baby / I’m taking care of nobody but my daughter and my mom,” he raps.

After releasing the album, Cudi went on Twitter to get a consensus on everyone’s thoughts about his new music. So far, his fans are elated and expressed their gratitude on the rapper’s timeline.

Usher Gives Pharrell Some Competition With Coonskin Hat

The hat wars are on. As Pharrell‘s famous Vivienne Westwood “mountain” hat continues to gain bids on eBay (the highest bid is at $14,500), Usher is on a mission to up the crazy hat game. The singer was recently spotted proudly wearing a furry, coonskin cap.

“Hats off to U. #howurockit,” Usher shared on Instagram as the caption to a photo of himself wearing the new accessory. Selfies are obviously in season.
