Nas Completes Final Def Jam Album
Rapper Nas dropped some major news in regards to his future at Def Jam. On ScHoolboy Q’s ‘Studio (Remix),’ the Queens native announced that he has completed his final album on the historic rap label.
“Finished up my new album / Single about to be dropping / Last album on Def Jam and I got so many options,” he raps on the remix, which also features singer BJ the Chicago Kid.
This will be Nas’ 11th album of his career, which is a milestone in itself. The collection will follow behind the rapper’s ‘Illmatic XX‘ retrospective in celebration the album’s 20th anniversary. Prior to that, Nas released 2012 ‘Life Is Good,’ which garnered critical acclaimed.
No word on when Nas will release the album.
In the meantime, Nas is keeping himself busy with his recently launched Mass Appeal Records. Rappers Fashawn, Bishop Nehru and Boldy James are among the artists on the label’s roster.
You can catch Nas next month performing on the Time Is Illmatic tour. The month-long trek kicks off on Oct. 2 in Rochester, N.Y., and ends on Oct. 19 in Oakland, Calif. Before each show on the tour, Nas will screen the documentary of the same name and then perform ‘Illmatic’ in its entirety.

Pharrell Calls Out President Obama for Response to Michael Brown Shooting [VIDEO]
After numerous comments from singers, rappers and other entertainers on the Michael Brown shooting that took place in Ferguson, Mo., last month, Pharrell has now weighed in.
Sitting down with CNN’s Don Lemon — who’s been covering the protests from the very beginning — the ‘Come Get It Bae’ singer says he’s not only disappointed with how the media has covered things, but also by the government response (or lack thereof). Pharrell thinks President Obama needs to visit Ferguson to get things in order.
“What did I think of Ferguson? I’m disappointed in the way it was handled from the government side,” Pharrell states. “I think that officer should be punished because that was excessive force.”
“I was disappointed that while we had so much peaceful protesting going on, what the media chose to cover most of all and highlight was the random few people who threw Molotov cocktails, the random people who had guns…,” he continues. “We got to spend more time on the people that were doing non-violent protesting, which is allowed in this country. That’s why I feel like the President needs to come down there. This is a deeper laceration in this country. If you think this is gonna blow over, this is going to be the longest hangover in race relations ever.”
The Virginia Beach, Va., native also points a finger at those who say that young black kids cause problems for themselves by the way they dress. Wearing your jeans below your waist isn’t a black or white thing, according to Pharrell; it’s a generational thing, so older folks should cut kids some slack.
“Who is the man that tells me how I can wear my pants?” he asks. “Can’t nobody tell me how I can wear my pants. I’m a human being. There’s so many issues that keep being lumped sum into the same issues. Wearing your jeans on your butt, or below your waistline has nothing to do with being black… Regardless to what that child wears, he did not deserve to be shot down like that.”

ScHoolboy Q Recruits Nas for 'Studio' Remix
Often times you’re able to tell the popularity of a new artist based on the features he or she is able to score, which is the case with ScHoolboy Q and his remix to ‘Studio.’ The West Coast native taps Nas for the new version.
The Queensbridge legend opens up the cut and doesn’t waste any time with updating fans on both his professional and personal life.
“Finished up my new album, single ’bout to be dropping / Last album on Def Jam and now I got so many options…. P—- stock going up, I think it’s all of these checks / I think it’s ’cause you love yourself a smooth thug dude from the ‘jects,” he spits.
Q keeps his lyrics the same as the original, which is kind of a disappointment, but with God’s Son setting the track off with a tight verse as usual, it makes up for it completely.

One day after his birthday (Sept. 8) and just a couple of weeks after his album scored the No. 1 spot on Billboard, Wiz Khalifa made his way over to ‘Conan’ to perform his recent hit, ‘Stayin Out All Night.’
Dressed in ripped jeans and a long O.J. Simpson T-shirt that read “not guilty,” the rapper performed the entire song with the microphone still in the mic stand, almost like a front-man of a rock group, which looked pretty cool.
Vocally, Wiz was solid, as he did a great job of going back and forth between rapping and singing, and considering there’s no lip-syncing on most late-night shows, his crooning was impressive.
Just two days ago, the 27-year-old posted a photo of him and his son, Sebastian, on Instagram with the caption, “Best gift ever.” Looks like his boy was the perfect birthday present this year.
