Lil Wayne Debuts 'Sorry 4 the Wait 2′ Mixtape, 'Used To' Featuring Drake
We were supposed to be listening to Lil Wayne‘s ‘Tha Carter V’ by now, but Cash Money label drama delayed its release. However, there’s still new music from Weezy in the meantime. ‘Sorry 4 the Wait 2′ has arrived on Tuesday (Jan. 20) as promised.
The new release follows the same formula of Lil Wayne’s recent mixtapes: New Wayne-isms over the most popular beats. The previously released cuts include ‘Fingers Hurting‘ (over ILOVEMAKONNEN’s ‘Maneuvering’) and a remix of Future’s ‘S—.’
Weezy’s also adds lyrics over O.T. Genasis’ ‘CoCo,’ Bobby Shmurda’s ‘Hot N—-’ and Rae Sremmurd’s ‘No Type,’ among others. Young Money star Drake shows up on the original song ‘Used To,’ which you can listen to below, and Christina Milian, his rumored new girlfriend, lends her vocals to ‘Drunk in Love.’ Let’s see what the BeyHive has to say about that.
Download ‘Sorry 4 the Wait 2,’ which has a cover that alludes to Lil Wayne’s battle with Cash Money, below. There’s still no word on ‘Tha Carter V’ release date.

Joey Bada$$' 'B4.Da.$$' Is Now Available for Streaming
Three years after he became the favorite newcomer of “real rap” fans with ’1999,’ Joey Bada$$ has finally dropped his debut album. ‘B4.Da.$$’ just hit the digital shelves and it’s also available for streaming.
The debut is mostly a solo affair with just five features out of the 15 tracks. The more notable ones are Raury, BJ the Chicago Kid and Chronixx, a dancehall artist who assists Joey in sticking to his Jamaican roots.
‘B4.Da.$$’ also drops the same day as the rapper’s 20th birthday. To mark the occasion, it makes sense that the project is laced with ’90s beats with an uptempo style.
“I feel like the music I produced before wasn’t really like party,” said frequent collaborator Chuck Strangers, who’s part of a producer lineup that includes DJ Premier, Hit-Boy and Kirk Knight. “You couldn’t really party to it. Or you could, but not like dance and s—. So I always wanted to go to a party and hear my own music and s—.”
Check out if ‘B4.Da.$$’ lives up to the hype below.

Mita Sneaker x Asics Gel Lyte III '25th Anniversary'
Leave it to mita to go all out for their 25th anniversary with a commemorative shoe. The Japanese retailer pulled in Asics to craft a pair that can push any young adult past their quarter-life crisis.
Striking white stitches hold two shades of blue suede together and flashes of red hit the ankle and outsole. The sockliner gets a slightly quilted feel that is echoed a bit in the use of white mesh on the medial side panel as well. The look is finished off with a chain link insole that should be recognizable to anyone who has ever been to their website.
These will be available at mita on Jan. 24 and are limited to only 1,990 pairs. If you don’t get the significance of that amount here’s a hint: 2015 minus 25 equals…

D'Angelo to Perform on 'Saturday Night Live'
In the weeks following the release of ‘Black Messiah,’ it wasn’t surprising for fans to think D’Angelo could possibly spend the next few years in recluse before following up this album with another (which is fine considering ‘Black Messiah’ is superb). However, that’s not the case. Before rocking Harlem, N.Y.’s Apollo Theater next month, D’Angelo and the Vanguard will play ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Jan. 31.
This comes a few months after Prince, who’s known as one of D’Angelo’s biggest inspirations, performed a three-song medley on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ After he takes the stage there and at the Apollo, the crooner will embark on the month-long Second Coming tour over in Europe.
The Jan. 31 episode of ‘SNL’ will be hosted by actor J.K. Simmons, who came into recent prominence with his Golden Globe Award-winning performance in ‘Whiplash.’ Simmons is welcomed, but even he must know that D’Angelo is going to make more headlines the following Sunday morning.

LeToya Luckett vs. Rico Love – The Boombox Battle
Congratulations to Fetty Wap, who not only won last week’s The Boombox Battle with an overwhelming 74 percent of the fan vote against Lil Wayne, but he also becomes the next artist to enter The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame.
With Fetty’s induction into the Hall of Fame, we now have two new artists and songs for this week. Since we’ve been on a hip-hop kick as of late, now R&B deserves it’s time to shine.
First up, we have singer LeToya Luckett. Her latest track, ‘Together,’ is more than just a well-crafted ballad. Inspired by the recent protests and demonstrations throughout the U.S., she sings about change and looking for peace. The piano-driven mid-tempo tune is filled with emotion, not one of despair but inspiration to rally and make the world a better place.
“This song speaks to me in so many ways. I hope it provokes change in you in a time where we’re in need of unity, there is division. In a time where we need peace, I feel as if we are taking a step back from all that we have already accomplished in our history. People spend more time spreading hate and breaking others down instead of acting out of love and building each other up. How dare I not use my voice to encourage change,” she says about the track on her Facebook page.
Competing against LeToya is Rico Love with his new effort, ‘Somebody Else.’ Unlike his opponent’s torch song, this one is about getting over a broken heart. The track, off his upcoming debut album, ‘Turn the Lights On,’ due May 19 via Division1/Interscope Records, hits home for anyone who’s trying to move on but can’t seem to forget about the love that they lost.
“When I see your face I start to break / I love you babe, it’s hard to keep staying strong / ‘Cause it’s take strength to keep from crying, wish I knew how to not hold on,” he sings.
Who will win the battle this week? Will LeToya’s rally song inspire fans to vote? Or will Rico Love’s introspective track get him the votes? Now it’s your turn to decide. Go vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember, you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., Jan. 27, at 10AM ET.

Pharrell Covers GQ Magazine as One of the Year's Most Influential Music Makers
Pharrell‘s reign continues. The multitalented producer and artist covers the new issue of GQ as one of the most influential music makers in the game.
In the interview, Pharrell brings GQ along to experience a typical, busy day in his life, from the recording studio to taping ‘The Voice.’ He opens up about his inspirations, working on a new record with Big Sean (which he describes as, “haaaaard. It’s like ghost-of-Shaka-Zulu hard!”) and why he chooses to surround himself with women, unlike many hip-hop heads.
“I am a sensitive person, so I want to be with sensitive people,” he says, explaining why he surrounds himself with women — including his two assistants, art director and choreographer. “Women have a way of expressing themselves that I can relate to more honestly. They’re pretty magical, the women that are here. They sense things before it happens.”
Other artists spotlighted in the issue include Rick Ross, Drake, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Nas and Iggy Azalea. The issue is available nationally on Jan. 27.

J. Cole Rides With Dale Earnhardt Jr. for ESPN The Magazine Cover
Get in the driver’s seat with J. Cole. The rapper covers the new issue of ESPN The Magazine with race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.
In the magazine, the two stars unite for a joint interview, despite the fact that they had never met before. Previously, Cole shouted out Earnhardt Jr. during ‘Note to Self,’ the closing number on his third album, ’2014 Forest Hills Drive.’ “Man look, y’all really wanna know who did it? I’ma tell y’all who did this s— man. Man, Dale Earnhardt Jr. dog. I’m not gonna forget that s— you told me yo… That s— you said to me changed my life.” The two also bonded over the rapper’s 2013 song ‘Power Trip’ featuring Miguel.
J. Cole explains why he decided to throw out the NASCAR driver’s name, which shocked many rap fans who wanted to more to the story.
“There was an interview Dale Jr. did that asked him what he plays before races, and he said ‘J. Cole ‘Power Trip,’ which freaked me out! What is Dale Earnhardt Jr. doing playing my s—? How did he even find out about it? You don’t think somebody on that level would ever hear your stuff. From there, I never forgot. I was always like, ‘Yo, I ride with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’ So when I was picking a name, I chose his.”
The North Carolina native reveals that after he made the mention, it became bigger than he expected. “And it worked out crazy. Everywhere I go now — the airport, the store — people say, ‘Yo, Cole, I love that album, bro, it’s a classic!” And Dale Earnhardt Jr., it’s the first thing they bring up! It’s already a thing in hip-hop, already an inside joke that’s going to live forever.”
Dale explains how J. Cole’s song became a staple on his race day playlist. “‘Power Trip’ was coming up on my Pandora station a lot. I found out Cole was from North Carolina, and when you like a guy’s music and you find out he’s from where you’re from, you tend to start to follow him. I heard he had a new album, and it started popping up on my Twitter timeline that there was this shoutout,” adds Dale. “I was like, “Oh s—, what’s happening here?” So I went and listened to it, and it was funny as hell! So I tweeted to him, “Man, that s—’s funny!” And he retweeted it and thought it was cool.
Cole and Earnhardt seem like fast buddies. Check out the full interview on newsstands Feb. 2.

Beyonce Shows Up as a Background Singer in Rare Hip-Hop Video
It’s hard to believe that Beyonce was once a background singer — but it’s true. Need proof? Well, there’s a rare music video from the 1990s that features a very young Bey singing for rapper Lil’ O.
The throwback music video, which was spotted by Cosmopolitan.com, is for Lil’ O’s song ‘Can’t Stop.’ The visual, which takes place in Beyonce’s hometown of Houston, Texas, oozes with old-school rap cliches including a house party, shooting pool and O riding around in a luxury sedan. Beyonce shows up with some of the original members of Destiny’s Child (in matching outfits, of course).
Who is Lil’ O and how did he get Beyonce in his video? He’s not a household name but the H-Town rapper does have several albums and mixtapes under his belt. The Loose Ends-sampled track ‘Can’t Stop’ was a big local hit in 1997.
The following year, Destiny’s Child would break into the mainstream with their self-titled debut album and the rest, they say, is musical history.

Amber Rose Responds to Haters by Posting More Sexy Photos: 'Kiss My MILFY Ass'
Amber Rose broke the Internet over the weekend when she shared sexy photos of herself wearing a string bikini that left little to the imagination. Unfortunately, the pictures also brought on a lot of backlash from critics.
Some felt the 31-year-old model’s exposure on the ‘Gram was unbecoming of a mother. Rose addressed the haters directly by posting another sizzling hot bikini photo and writing in the caption, “Omg ur a Mother put some clothes on……Kiss my MILFY ass bitches.”
The bodacious mom also posted a picture of herself in a huge shower area cupping her breast and bowing her head as if she was praying. “I appreciate u,” she wrote.
Then Rose kicked it up a notch by posting a 15-second video of her backside. In the clip, the model struts her stuff in a mesh lime green-colored coverup. And yes, we are green with envy, all puns intended.
In the midst of the backlash, Rose had one major supporter in her corner: talk show diva Wendy Williams. On her daytime program she praised the blonde-haired beauty for her fearlessness. “I mean, you cannot hate on her,” she said.
We have to agree. You go girl.

Fetty Wap Enters The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame
Fetty Wap may have gone up against some heavy hitters during his run in The Boombox Battle, but the New Jersey rapper has come out on top in the end. The RGF head honcho is the latest artist to be inducted into The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame — proving that a great song can get you to the top no matter how long you’ve been in the hip-hop game.
Hailing from Paterson, N.J., Fetty Wap’s ‘Trap Queen’ has been blowing up on the internet in many ways. With over 4 million listens on Soundcloud and more than 2.2 million views of the track’s video, the song has put Fetty on everyone’s radar and even landed him a deal with Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment.
The mid-tempo tune showcases Fetty’s sing-song rapping approach and his songwriting skills, which feature him loving his girl, money and the bando.
“I’m like, ‘Hey, what’s up, hello’ / Seen yo pretty ass soon as you came in that door / I just wanna chill, got a sack for us to roll / Married to the money, introduced her to my stove / Showed her how to whip it, now she remixin’ for low / She my trap queen, let her hit the bando / We be countin’ up, watch how far them bands go,” he delivers on the first verse.
The rhymer started off the battle competition by going against Fabolous, who at the time was on his own successful and undefeated run. But even though ‘Lituation’ was popular for a number of weeks, Fetty Wap’s ‘Trap Queen’ won over the fans and took almost 88 percent of the votes that week. Fetty then beat out J. Cole, Dipset and finally Lil Wayne.
Fetty Wap joins Chris Brown, Tinashe, Michael Jackson, Trey Songz, Lil Durk and T-Pain in The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame.

Majid Jordan's 'Forever' Video Highlights the Art of Dance
It’s been several months since Majid Jordan dropped their ‘A Place Like This’ EP but that doesn’t mean they still can’t provide us with some cool visuals for our enjoyment. The singing-production duo just released a video for their stripped-down banger, ‘Forever.’
Like Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ video, the premise is pretty simple. A guy dances around different parts of a city from sun up to sun down. But unlike the ‘Happy’ visuals, there aren’t a bunch of folks dancing, just one dude popping, locking and breakdancing all over a beautiful Toronto.
Production company Common Good does a wonderful job of capturing the city’s essence as the male lead moves and grooves inside a cathedral, a subway car, a giant library and what looks to be a dollar store. By the reaction of some of the customers, it’s easy to tell the performances weren’t staged and a bit of guerrilla filmmaking was used.
All of the dancing matches the upbeat energy of the song, which makes the video entertaining to watch. We must also mention that Majid Jordan doesn’t appear in the clip at all.
The ‘Forever’ video follows their previous video for ‘Her,’ which the group dropped last month.

Air Jordan 7 Retro 'French Blue'
Last year, we gave you a sneak peek of Nike‘s remastered version of the Air Jordan 7 Retro ‘French Blue.’ Well, it’s arriving in stores this weekend. So here’s another eyeful of the crispy, new sneaker and it does not disappoint.
The white tumbled leather used on the upper is absolutely glowing, which makes the hits of white on the outsole almost luminescent. The french blue accents mesh well with the hits of university blue that are in the mix and flint grey blends in for a nice added touch.
These are going to run you $190 a pair, but remember, the quality on this drop is supposed to be exponentially upped. Look for the Air Jordan 7 Retro ‘French Blue’ at select Nike retailers on Jan. 24.
