Three years after he became the favorite newcomer of “real rap” fans with ’1999,’ Joey Bada$$ has finally dropped his debut album. ‘B4.Da.$$’ just hit the digital shelves and it’s also available for streaming.

The debut is mostly a solo affair with just five features out of the 15 tracks. The more notable ones are Raury, BJ the Chicago Kid and Chronixx, a dancehall artist who assists Joey in sticking to his Jamaican roots.

‘B4.Da.$$’ also drops the same day as the rapper’s 20th birthday. To mark the occasion, it makes sense that the project is laced with ’90s beats with an uptempo style.

“I feel like the music I produced before wasn’t really like party,” said frequent collaborator Chuck Strangers, who’s part of a producer lineup that includes DJ Premier, Hit-Boy and Kirk Knight. “You couldn’t really party to it. Or you could, but not like dance and s—. So I always wanted to go to a party and hear my own music and s—.”

Check out if ‘B4.Da.$$’ lives up to the hype below.
