Pharrell‘s reign continues. The multitalented producer and artist covers the new issue of GQ as one of the most influential music makers in the game.
In the interview, Pharrell brings GQ along to experience a typical, busy day in his life, from the recording studio to taping ‘The Voice.’ He opens up about his inspirations, working on a new record with Big Sean (which he describes as, “haaaaard. It’s like ghost-of-Shaka-Zulu hard!”) and why he chooses to surround himself with women, unlike many hip-hop heads.
“I am a sensitive person, so I want to be with sensitive people,” he says, explaining why he surrounds himself with women — including his two assistants, art director and choreographer. “Women have a way of expressing themselves that I can relate to more honestly. They’re pretty magical, the women that are here. They sense things before it happens.”
Other artists spotlighted in the issue include Rick Ross, Drake, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Nas and Iggy Azalea. The issue is available nationally on Jan. 27.
