Common Celebrates Veteran's Day With 'This War We Fight' Poem [VIDEO]
Common appreciates a good soldier and in honor of Veteran’s Day, he releases a poem he wrote called ‘This War We Fight,’ in which he thanks those in the armed forces for protecting our country.
“This war we fight, it goes through the night, ’til the mourning of fallen soldiers / Standing angels we stand upon their shoulders, about cold war they told us / Peace, be still, peace is not far away / It’s not far from where we are today / This war we fight with the might of the all-mighty / So even on dark days this light will guide me,” he recites.
The rapper performed the spoken word piece at the White House’s Veteran’s Day celebration. The clip finds the well-respected artist looking out of the window at the Washington Monument, as he stands in a dark room with his back turned to the camera.
There’s no thumping track in the background or hook of any kind, it’s just Common reciting the words over floating keyboard sounds, which makes it easy to hone in on what he’s saying.
You’ve got to give it up to the ‘Nobody’s Smiling’ creator for taking time out of his busy schedule to thank those in uniform.

T-Pain Addresses Public Reaction of His Ability to Sing Without Auto-Tune [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]
When NPR calls, T-Pain answers. Last month, the rappa-ternt-sanga took part in the lauded media organization’s Tiny Desk Concert, singing some of his hit songs like ‘Buy U a Drank’ and ‘Up Down (Do This All Day)’ without using Auto-Tune. The public was shocked that he’s actually a remarkable singer when stripped of the vocal-enhancing device. So shocked that the YouTube video of his NPR performance has more than 6 million views.
T-Pain, who just turned 30, is surprised with the public’s reaction. “The video took off pretty crazy,” he tells The Boombox. “It’s so weird because [singing without Auto-Tune] it’s so normal to me. I know I can sing. I kinda gave up on tryna prove it.”
The singer was clueless as to what the Tiny Desk Concert entailed when NPR initially reached out, but he was open to the experience. “NPR’s a big outlet, I’m gonna go. I’m gonna go do whatever they need me to. I didn’t really know what it was until I got there.”
YouTube comments on his Auto-Tune-free performance range from sheer disbelief he can carry a tune to the knowledgeable fans criticizing those in awe. “Not only has this video made me discover a new voice that I absolutely love, it’s also made me aware that T-Pain is nothing, as a person, like what I expected. This guy’s clearly got soul, knows his music and isn’t some plastic gangster. He seems pretty straight up and cool. Well done man, do more of this,” writes Tyler Cole, while Victoria Flamel also shared her shock over hearing his natural singing voice. “What!? T-Pain is a great singer!? My life has been a lie!” T-Pain supporter Glindon Owens — a “real fan” — is well-aware of his history as a singer with skills: “If you were a real fan then you would have already known he was a good singer.”
While he appreciates the opinions — both good and bad — T-Pain is more concerned with the fact Auto-Tune gets a bad rap. “It sucks that just because it’s been popularized to hate Auto-Tune that people just hate Auto-Tune and they automatically think it’s a bad thing,” the Florida native shares. Thanks, Jay Z.

The Hundreds x Reebok Pump AXT
While Reebok‘s main focus seems to be on celebrating the Reebok Pump’s 25th anniversary some brands have opted to big up other pumped up silhouettes. Like The Hundreds who recently unveiled their take on the Reebok Pump AXT and its a black a blue banger.
The body of the sneaker is dressed in black suede with tonal accents blending in perfectly but this only further pronounces the hits of blue branding that pop up. An embroidered hit on the heel is met by a combined basketball bomb pump logo on the tongue while a grey outsole finishes up the job.
This explosive collaboration is set for the coming weeks but no date has been set however, chances are that you can pick them up at The Hundreds.

Air Jordan 6 Retro 'Black Infrared'
Black Friday is always an excuse to spend a little money but the standing dilemma is always what exactly is worth the bread. Well if sneakers are your thing Nike is using that day to drop an undeniable doorbuster in the form of the Air Jordan 6 ‘Black Infrared’.
While several of his silhouettes are celebrated pretty regularly this particular pair and colorway are absolute must haves. Black nubuck is used on this pair which does much to duplicate that OG durabuck feel while infrared accents fall onto the outsole. Mix in the 3M paneling beneath the perforations and you’ve the recipe for an instant classic.
It’s safe to say that these won’t last long at Nike retailers when they drop on Nov. 28 so don’t go too hard on the turkey the day before to avoid the coma that the tryptophan may induce. In other words don’t sleep!

Lil Durk Enters The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame
With four consecutive wins under his belt, Lil Durk is the latest artist to be inducted in The Boombox Hall of Fame.
Durk’s version of Dej Loaf’s ‘Try Me’ became the song that made him unstoppable during his time in the battle. Rapping over Dej’s ‘Try Me’ beat, the rapper doesn’t hold back on his words. However, his take on the track finds him repping his crew and celebrating his signing to Def Jam and French Montana’s Coke Boys imprint.
“Bitch I’m from Chicago where we gon’ ace s— / If we catch a homie we don’t say s— / Let them rappers know we ain’t who to play with / I can’t eat her, I just freak her / Pass it to my n—-s like I’m blowing reefer / 30 old jam is like Aquafina / Free my n—- Jam that lil boy a deemer / And since I got my deal, I feel important / I live what I rap and just record it,” Durk rhymes.
What made his first victory in The Boombox Battle most interesting is the fact that fans liked his version of the track opposed to Dej’s original song. He then beat T.I.’s ‘About the Money,’ conquered over the Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan’s collaboration ‘Lifestyle’ and finally took the crown by taking over 82 percent of the fan vote against Bobby Shmurda’s ‘Bobby Bitch.’
In each round, Durk proved that his track was better than the others, which is why we’re pleased to welcome him to the Hall of Fame club.
Lil Durk joins Chris Brown, Tinashe, Michael Jackson and Trey Songz in The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame.

Tiffany Evans Calls It Quits on 'Baby Don't Go'
Tiffany Evans is done with her relationship. So what does she do to move on? The 22-year-old songstress sings about it.
On her new track, ‘Baby Don’t Go,’ she recounts all the issues she has with her ex and in retrospect, looks back at why things didn’t work. Although the title of the ballad hints at a sad affair, Evans sounds resilient as she contemplates walking away even though he doesn’t want her to go.
“It’s only so much I can take / All these years and your mistakes / You could’ve been replaced, yeah / But I forgave you through the heartache / Then I had to find out the hard way / Where you’re heads at / Where you been out / If it’s over now, I promise this time I won’t be back!” she sings.
Penned by Evans, the song showcases just one of the themes that will be explored on her forthcoming record.
“We all go through ups and downs in our relationships no matter who we are,” she says in a statement. “‘Baby Don’t Go’ is just a real and raw song from the heart about a situation I experienced. It’s part of a bigger story that I plan to tell on my next project.”
‘Baby Don’t Go,’ produced by Ryan “Top Secret” Anderson, is the first single off her upcoming EP, which is set to release in early 2015 via her indie label, Live Love Entertainment.
