John Legend and Common's 'Glory' Wins Best Original Song at 2015 Oscars [VIDEO]
After John Legend and Common‘s powerful rendition of “Glory,” there was no way they weren’t going to win for Best Original Song. As expected, they duo nabbed the coveted honor at the 87th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 22).
The pair dedicated the Oscars to the strives of the Civil Rights Movement, which is the basis of their Oscar-nominated film, Selma.
Common was as poetic as ever with his moving speech. “This bridge was built on hope, welded by compassion and elevated by love of all human beings,” he said. “This is for the kid from the South Side of Chicago to those in France standing up for freedom of expression to those in Hong Kong protesting for democracy.”
Legend added on to Common’s speech with some insightful words of his own. “Nina Simone said it’s an artist duty to reflect the times we’re in,” he said. “Selma is now because the struggle for justice is right now. We live in the most incarcerated country in the world. There are more black men under correctional control today than there were in slavery in 1850.”
Octavia Spencer also gave an interesting tidbit as she introduced Legend and Common before their performance. Fourty-seven years ago, the Academy Awards were postponed because of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. This year proved the story of his struggles are still very present in American consciousness.
Congrats to John Legend and Common on their well-deserved Oscar win for Best Original Song.

John Legend and Common Perform 'Glory' at 2015 Oscars [VIDEO]
Rapper Common and John Legend performed their inspirational song “Glory” at 87th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 22). The collaborative tune is from the Oprah Winfrey-produced film, Selma, which is up for two awards: Best Original Song and Best Picture.
The dynamic duo gave a powerful rendition of “Glory” standing in front of replica of the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge where the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights march began. Common and Legend were also flanked by the people who symbolically walked across it.
Legend did a phenomenal job singing the powerful lyric and pride seeped through Common’s performance of the song.
The pair’s performance was so enthralling that it touched multiple members of the audience. Actor David Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, was seen with tears streaming down his face.
In more glorious news, “Glory” won the Oscar for Best Original Song a few moments after Common and Legend performed.
Jennifer Hudson Performs 'I Can't Let Go' at the 2015 Oscars [VIDEO]
Last year we lost some of entertainment’s finest artists, including Maya Angelou, Ruby Dee, Robin Williams and many others. At the 87th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 22), Jennifer Hudson graced the stage to sing a tribute and honor all those we lost last year.
During the “In Memoriam” montage, J.Hud performed “I Can’t Let Go,” which is an original song from NBC’s short-lived musical TV series Smash. People forget that Hudson is one of the best live singers in popular music, and she often gives a reminder in her multiple award show appearances.
This time, Hudson, who is an Oscar winner herself, did a powerful rendition of “I Can’t Let Go.” Before she performed the song, the 33-year-old songbird told the audience, “This is for all the people who shared their talents and lives with us — we are forever changed.”
Again, it makes sense why the Oscar producers would pick Jennifer Hudson for this touching tribute to Hollywood’s greats who left this earth. Watch the video above to see for yourself.

Tinashe Grabs Iggy Azalea for Bouncy 'All Hands on Deck' Remix
Soundcloud R&B princess Tinashe made a big splash last year with “2 On” featuring ScHoolboy Q and “Pretend” with A$AP Rocky. For her third single, “All Hands on Deck,” the 22-year-old singer taps Aussie rhymer Iggy Azalea for the remix.
On the Stargate and Cashmere Cat-produced song, Tinashe sings of kicking a beau to the curb after he broke her heart.
“Wasted heart / You took the last bit of love I ever had / You took a good girl and turn me oh so bad / Kiss the old me goodbye she’s dead and gone, dead and gone,” she sings over finger snaps, synths stabs and a subtle beat.
Azalea, who recently quit social media, adds a little swagger to the track boasting about how much paper she collecting from coast to coast.
“I did it all, seen it all, twice / Now I got to get the money / Early morning, late nights,” adding, “Far as fashion and this rappin’, I’m who run it now / Walkthroughs cost a hundred thou / Yo, I’m Iggy, ow.”
Overall, the song is perfect for the clubs and should do well on radio.
In addition, the collaboration comes at a good time as Tinashe will hit the road with Iggy Azalea on the Great Escape Tour. The 24-city trek, kicks off April 14 in Fresno, Calif., and wraps up on May 24 in Austin, TX.

Nike SB Dunk Low 'Dorothy'
Occasionally, a sneaker theme comes along that is so compelling that it is flat out cinematic. Nike offers up a colorful SB Dunk sneaker that perfectly channels one of the lead characters in the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Dorothy” is an obvious nod to the most prominent figure in the children’s fairy tale. The shoe boasts a gingham print in its lining with bits of white and red colors as well. The connection gets even deeper when you factor in the gradation that happens from the toe box to heel, which represents the film being colorized over the years. There’s also a yellow brick road insole.
These sneakers are set to hit stores sometime in the spring but they are already landing in Japanese retailers like Instant Skateboard. Hopefully, Nike will honored the rest of the Oz characters with colorful kicks as well.

Wiz Khalifa Goes on Emotional Twitter Rant Championing Father's Rights
Rapper Wiz Khalifa was supposed to celebrate his son Sebastian Taylor Thomaz’s second birthday on Saturday (Feb. 21) but was denied to do so by his ex-wife Amber Rose. Wizzy went on Twitter to show the birthday party he had thrown for his son but revealed that he wasn’t present.
The Taylor Gang leader then went on an emotional Twitter rant about the difficulty of being a father to his son. His tweets seem to allude that Rose is denying him his rights to be a father.
“I’ve never voiced my true unhappiness out of fear of the person I was with and what she would do to make me more unhappy of anyone knew,” he tweeted. “I know a lot of people have that same fear and I’m just like you.”
“We need to talk to each more and empower each other to peruse our own happiness because the illusion is strong,” he added. “I’m even at a point where I feel I have no other options and i just need some help.”
The “We Dem Boyz” rapper goes on to champion father’s rights, stating, “Standing up for all fathers who need, deserve, or can’t find help,” adding, “As a man, and a dad you’ll feel like, ‘I got this.’ But who got us?”
Wiz also shared a shocking revelation. “Anyone who really knows me knows that I never cheated on Amber,” he wrote.
Rose would probably disagree with that statement, but we digress.
Wiz’s latest rant comes after he accused his ex-wife of being a bad parent. The rapper alleges that she keeps her house filthy and doesn’t attend to the child needs.
Meanwhile, Amber Rose celebrated Bash’s 2nd birthday and posted two adorable videos of the toddler on Instagram.
