The old adage that rappers want to be ball players and ball players want to be rappers rings true. Shaq, Kobe, Allen Iverson, Chris Webber and a long line of NBA players have tried their hand at rapping to varying degrees of success. You can now add Lance Stephenson to that club.
The current Charlotte Hornets player and former member of the Indiana Pacers produced tons of memes this summer after awkwardly blowing in LeBron James’ ear during the NBA playoffs. Now, Stephenson’s got the Internet’s attention yet again as he jumps on the Bobby Shmurda bandwagon with his own freestyle over the Brooklyn rapper’s breakthrough track ‘Hot N—-.’
Stephenson raps, “I been balling hard since like the 5th grade / Watching A.I. getting 40 with the French braids / Love Indiana, I’ma miss ‘em, good days / Charlotte Hornet, MJ, that’s the new wave / Shorty like the way that I ball out / I been getting money till I fall out / Superman then I tell her crawl out / Shorty like the way that I force out.”
It’s a decent effort by Stephenson, but it’s probably best for this to remain a one-time deal.
