It looks like we won’t be seeing Vybz Kartel hitting stages anytime soon as the dancehall star has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of promoter Clive “Lizard” Williams.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Kartel, Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John all received a life sentence. The men are all eligible for parole but at different times. While Campbell and Jones are eligible for parole in 25 years, St. John needs to serve 30 before he’s eligible. Unfortunately, Vybz, needs to wait even longer and must serve 35 years before he can receive parole eligibility.
Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, was found guilty last month for the 2011 crime. The ‘Clarks’ reggae singer has been in jail for almost three years waiting to find out his fate. However, after a 65-day trial in Jamaica, a jury voted 10-1 and found Kartel, along with the three other men, guilty on March 13.
Vybz Kartel’s camp plans to file for appeal.
