In a bizarre twist of events, a rising San Antonio, Texas rapper has allegedly died at the hands of a fellow artist. Hooligan Boyz rhymer Miguel Silva (aka M.I.G.) was killed last Saturday (Feb. 1) after he got into a fist fight with a group member.
According to KENS5.com, the Hooligan Boyz performed a show in Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday (Jan. 31). After the performacne, the trio went to an Embassy Suites hotel in the area. Then police received a call early Saturday morning that one of the three band members was unconscious.
When officers arrived, they discovered Silva unconscious on the hotel floor and immediately performed CPR, but it was too late.
Hooligan Boyz member Christopher Garza was arrested and charged with the murder of Silva. Authorities have not revealed the reason why the two members were fighting in the first place.
On Tuesday (Feb. 5), a judge denied Garza’s request for bail and will remain in custody at the Neuces County Jail in Corpus Christi.
Friends and family are grieving over the loss of Silva, who was well-respected in his San Antonio hometown.
“You might see all these tats and all that say ‘Hooligans’ or say ‘Say-Town,’ but he just wanted to represent who he was and [represent] San Antonio,” said Steven Silva, Miguel’s cousin.
Although Steven forgives Garza, he added that he must be held accountable for his actions.
“I forgive you Chris…I really do forgive you, man, but I don’t think you had to exceed that limit… you didn’t have to push it that far,” he told KENS5.com.
To help with Miguel Silva’s funeral costs, the family has set up a memorial fund. A special tribute concert is being held tonight (Feb. 5) in Miguel Silva’s honor in San Antonio.
We send our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Silva family.
