Maggie Q and Mekhi Phifer sat down with VladTV to discuss their film "Divergent," its strong female leads, and how the temptation to join a certain group in the film can parallel our need to join certain groups in our own lives.
Maggie Q acknowledged her love for lead character Tris and how vulnerable she is, saying that a character (or person for that matter) who exudes confidence at all times doesn't necessarily mean they're strong.
Mekhi feels that the divisive nature of the Sci-Fi film directly reflects our culture, and she compares it to teens being forced to make lifelong decisions based on little knowledge, with kids seeing the flash and wealth of the streets and choosing that path, not knowing that it may not be as glamorous as it appears.
