The-Dream turned himself in to New York City police Wednesday morning (May 7) for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
According to TMZ, the R&B singer walked into a New York City police department around 8:30AM ET to answer to the charges made against him by ex-girlfriend Lydia Nam.
Dream has been charged with assault, as well as strangulation, which are both felonies. He was also charged with three misdemeanors: reckless endangerment, assault and child endangerment since Nam was pregnant with his child at the time of the alleged incident in 2013.
Last week, The Boombox reported that the NYPD was investigating The-Dream for hitting, kicking and choking Nam in 2013. The charges are emerging now because she didn’t notify authorities until seven months later. This isn’t the first time police were called to deal with a violent situation involving the two. A previous fight between the couple in their California home ended with Nam deciding not to press charges.
The ‘Black’ singer is still in custody. As of now, there’s no word on The-Dream’s bail and he’s yet to comment about any of the accusations.
