Young Thug's label status has been a mystery for a while. After co-signs from Future, Gucci Mane, and Birdman's Rich Gang, the rapper claimed each alleged signing.
Buzzfeed did a little digging into the "Stoner" rapper's history with labels and uncovered that the 22-year-old was signed to Atlantic records and was later trapped after receiving a $15,000 advance from a $30,000 record deal. Multiple sources say that the label picked up Thug during the height of the "Stoner" release and even placed former label mate Wale on the remix to generate more buzz for the rapper.
Sources also claim that Young Thug felt like he was ripped off in his deal and tried to find other advisers to help him get out of it. Other details that link Thug to Atlantic was his contract with Gucci Mane's 1017 Brick Squad that he allegedly signed in March 2013. Soon after, the rapper signed another deal with an imprint under Atlantic while Gucci was sent to prison in September 2013.
The imprint, Atlantic Partners Group believed that Thug would be hard to sell, but signed him because of the buzz he built in Atlanta. The '360 deal' meant that the label has full control and ownership of an artist's name, merchandise and income from performances.
Now that the "Danny Glover" rapper has somewhat ended (sources say he is in "limbo") his partnership wit Atlantic and APG, photos surfaced of the rapper hanging with Birdman with the likeliness that he is now a part of Birdman's Rich Gang label.
