While most fans assume the whole A$AP Mob crew hails from Harlem, A$AP Ant is actually from the DMV, Baltimore to be exact. The young rapper chopped it up with VladTV about growing up in the dangerous city, the worst thing he's ever witnessed there, and how the real Baltimore compares to the hit HBO series, "The Wire."
Ant admits that his city has a history of being run down with abandon buildings and boarded up homes, however they're currently in the process of rebuilding the community. He also combats the commonly held belief that all young people do in the city is sell drugs, when they are actually very talented musicians, artists, clothing designers and more who come from the area.
When asked how growing up in the city compared to the HBO series "The Wire" Ant says the city is ten times worse than the portrayal the rest of the country has become familiar with. He started hanging with the older crowd when he was only 13-years-old and ran the streets with them. While he never sold hard drugs, he was around the lifestyle from a very young age.
