Waka Flocka Flame Cancels Show at University of Oklahoma Following Racist SAE Fraternity Video

Waka Flocka Flame has canceled his scheduled concert performance at the University of Oklahoma due to a video that surfaced online of the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) singing a racist chant.

The nine-second video was uploaded by an anonymous user on YouTube and it features a group of people singing, “You can hang him from a tree, but he can never sign with me / There will never be a n—– in SAE.”

The offensive clip prompted the national headquarters of Sigma Alpha Epsilon to close the University of Oklahoma chapter indefinitely. In addition, all of the SAE members were suspended.

SAE, the largest fraternity in North America, was founded in the Antebellum South. “We apologize for the unacceptable and racist behavior of the individuals in the video, and we are disgusted that any member would act in such a way,” said SAE’s national office (via Huffington Post).

Waka, who performed for SAE last year, was expected to headline a show at the university in April. The Atlanta rhymer went on Instagram to voice his disgust over the racist video, as well as cancel his upcoming concert at UO.

When I first started doing shows it was all hood spots and all black people. Then I had mainstream success and did soe EDM and it was all white people at my shows for awhile. Now it’s white, black and brown people at my shows. All races partying having a goood time and enjoying themselves together peacefully. That’s what Waka Flocka is all about. For that reason I must say I’m disgusted and disappointed in the actions of the SAE fraternity at University of Oklahoma and I will be canceling my scheduled performance for them next month. Racism is something I will not tolerate.

And in the caption, Waka wrote:

SMFH.. I know for a fact the whole school and SAE don’t agree with those kids actions so know that I’m not madd at the whole #SAE just those disgusting kids!!!!!! #WFF We can’t change history but we damn sure can create our own future #DeathToRacism”

Props to Waka Flocka Flame for canceling his show and sending a message to SAE that racism has no place on a college campus. We must all go hard in the paint to fight racism in America.
