Veteran rapper Trina is looking to make 2015 a comeback year of sorts and has returned with a brand new single, “Real One.”
Featuring guest vocals and production from Rico Love, the Diamond Princess’ latest offering is a pretty good way to reignite her buzz. Even though she’s been away from the scene for a while, dropping her last album, Amazin’ in 2010, and having since split from her longtime record label, Slip-N-Slide Records, Trina sounds fully rejuvenated and out to reclaim her place among the top female rappers in the game.
“All she ever wanted was a real one, but they’re so hard to find / A big future, she just wanna build one, but all she gets is waste of time,” croons Rico Love at the beginning of the record before Trina swoops in for the kill.
Attacking the track with the same sassy ferocity that made her a star initially, she’s hitting on all cylinders from the start. “I keep yelling f— boy this and f— boy that / I should’a never let the f— boy tap / Gotta blame myself, I should’a been gone / You’s a new a– n—–, I been one,” she rhymes, stunting on all the weak dudes from her past.
If you let us tell it, “Real One” could be the record to put Trina back in the running for the title of the baddest bitch in rap if she keeps churning out tracks like this. Keep an eye out for the Miami representative’s upcoming album, slated to drop later this year.
