Akron, Ohio’s golden boy may have returned to bring some glory back to his city but the real testament to his hometown dedication has been his sneakers. LeBron James’ latest Nike colorway is a well-done tribute to Akron’s history as one of the world’s top rubber manufacturers.
Bounce has a preview of the Nike LeBron 12 EXT Rubber City, which is a jarring shoe at first look. The sneaker’s upper is covered in knobby treads, much like that of a dirt bike tire. In another fun twist, the foam portions of the upper are covered in suede for a texturally rich look, making it more than just a black shoe. The iced outsole is the perfect finishing touch for a very tough take on LeBron’s 12th signature sneaker.
Details regarding this sneaker’s release are pretty light for now, but it’s believed that they could drop over in Asia first. Either way, they are set for a March 21 release date so you should start tracking down a pair now.
