Last week, Kendrick Lamar announced that he will drop his second album, tentatively called [Untitled], on March 23 with little information to go on. But now we get to see what could possibly be the album cover.
On Wednesday (March 11), Lamar shared the provocative photo on his Instagram page. The black-and-white image features a group of black men posing in front of the White House holding cash, babies and champagne. There’s also a white man with X’s over his eyes holding a gravel and is lying on the ground.
No word on what the photo represents but a cryptic message with the pic, reads, “‘Don’t all dogs go to heaven? Don’t Gangsta’s boogie? Do owl shit stank? Lions, Tigers & Bears. But TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY. Its the American dream nigga….’ – lil Homie.”
The words “To Pimp a Butterfly” is in all caps, which further suggest that this could be the album title as well. Again, there’s no real definitive information on the Compton rhymer’s upcoming release from either Lamar or his record label, Top Dawg Entertainment.
If the iTunes listing holds up, we have roughly two weeks before we can hear and see what Lamar is bringing to the rap game. As it stands now, the 16-track project is expected to hit stores on March 23. To listen to his latest single, “The Blacker the Berry,” click here.
