After dominating the Billboard charts upon each release, and arguably making the most inventive, yet palatable hip-hop since artists like OutKast, there’s a chance that Kanye West will retire from music permanently.
Based on a source obtained by Richard Johnson, who pens New York Post’s Page Six column, the multi-talented rapper and producer will replace music with fashion.
“After his next [collaborative album] with Paul McCartney comes out, he’s going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing,” said the source.
West’s love for fashion has been well-documented. Between trying his best to remain fashion-forward and ranting about his struggle to enter the high-end design industry, it’s safe to say that most people know that Kanye’s passion for creating is intense.
And considering he’s made a ton of money with Nike after releasing his own shoe, and then making millions through his deal with Adidas, it’s not that far-fetched to think that the MC would set his sights solely on fashion.
Plus, the source says ‘The College Dropout’ creator has been too busy to focus on clothing design in the way that he wants, which may also contribute to his desire to leave his lyrics and performing behind.
“He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn’t had enough time to work on it,” the source revealed.
