Thanks to the media, Solange Knowles was surprised to find out that she owed back taxes in California from 2010 to 2012. The Internal Revenue Service hit the R&B singer with a $55,000 tax lien, but her rep says that it will get resolved shortly.
“The lien is in process of being removed as there was simply confusion on whether Solange was a California resident. We expect this to come to a swift close,” her rep says.
The IRS filed the lien three days after she wed her longtime boyfriend, Alan Ferguson. Solange appeared to be baffled by the news according to her Twitter response.
“Well thanks for letting me know , lol. S—. (Pronounced *She-it),” she tweeted on Sunday (Dec. 28).
An insider close to the singer told E! News that the tax lien is not a big deal and will be addressed.
“Solange wasn’t too worried,” said the source. “She’s on top of stuff and has always been financially responsible.”
We’re quite sure this was simply a misunderstanding and will get handled quickly since Solange is a savvy business woman — she owns a record label and is a designer for Puma, to name a few.
