Nicky Da B, New Orleans Bounce Star, Dies at 24

New Orleans bounce star Nicky Da B passed away from an undisclosed illness on Tuesday (Sept. 2), according to his manager Rusty Lazer. He was 24.


Born Nickesse Toney, the rapper is best known for the energetic 2011 club song ‘Drop It Hot Potato Style’ and the Diplo-produced track ‘Express Yourself.’


Fellow Bounce artist Big Freedia told NOLA.com that Nicky Da B will be sorely missed in the Bounce community.


“He was definitely loved by many, all his fans, colleagues, family and friends,” he said “We’re saddened by his loss. The bounce community will miss him. He was a phenomenal new sound for us, and he would have been going places.”


Rusty Lazer went on Facebook on Tuesday to reflect on his dear friend. He wrote:
