Chris Brown takes the win in this week’s Boombox Battle against August Alsina. With more than 72 percent of the votes, Team Breezy helped the singer come out on top.
The ‘X’ creator’s new song, ‘Autumn Leaves,’ features Kendrick Lamar, who speeds through his verse in a breathy and lighter voice. Brown sings about a relationship that isn’t working out. Using natural metaphors in his lyrics, he sounds emotional over the synthy R&B melody.
“I’ve been bleeding in your silence / I feel safer in your violence / I hold on like leaves and fall to what is left / Before I sleep I talk to God / He must be mad with me, it’s coming / I’m confused who’ll I’ll spend my forever with,” Chris sings on the second verse.
This week, Eric Bellinger‘s ‘Awkward’ goes up against Brown. Featuring Game on the track, the singer tells a former flame that she just needs to move on with her life. Not only does he tell her that things are awkward, he pushes her to stop contacting his friends and family.
“Yeah, why you still texting my mama? / You can let it go, she ain’t calling back / Why you still tryna start drama? / We ain’t even together, where they do that at,” he sings in the first verse.
Who will win this week? Will it be Chris Brown’s song about a relationship that’s falling apart? Or Eric Bellinger’s track telling his ex to stop blowing up his phone? Only you can decide. Vote for your favorite artist’s song once per hour until the polls shut down on Tues., Sept. 30, at 10AM ET.
