Alicia Keys is all about peace, love and a baby bump? The R&B songstress posted a nude photo of her naked self and her pregnant belly on Instagram on Saturday (Sept. 20).
The soon-to-be mom had her baby bump painted with a peace sign to help raise awareness of the #WeAreHere movement, a charitable campaign to push for stricter gun laws, criminal justice reform, gay rights and global health and education initiatives.
Keys hopes that her followers — 20 million on Twitter and 35 million on Facebook — will galvanize and spark a movement for peace and justice worldwide. She feels the provocative yet beautiful image should peak readers’ interest in the campaign.
“I want to gather an army,” Keys told the New York Times. “It’s time to get people’s attention. People won’t be able to ignore this visual.”
Keys wants her fans to support 12 specific charity groups for her campaign: All Out, CARE, Equal Justice Initiative, the Future Project, Girl Rising, Keep a Child Alive, Moms Rising, Oxfam, Partners in Health, the Trevor Project, the Trayvon Martin Foundation and War Child.
The 33-year-old singer-songwriter is also donating $1 million of her own money between these organizations to get the movement started.
“It’s you and me on a mission to create a kinder and more peaceful world. The #WeAreHere Movement begins today,” she wrote in the picture’s caption.
